(Here's some extra XP heading your guy's way! This was actually really fun to right. Never written from the POV of Legend before but it was an interesting experiment. Timeline might be a little screwy at parts though.)
Light the Way
(May 20, 1988)
Their first debut.
Los Angeles was under siege. The National Guard filled the once busy streets with armored cars and tanks, soldiers flooding houses and apartments, trying to find a better vantage point. Their faces were full of fear. They weren't prepared for this.
In the distance, a gallery of lights rose over the horizon and the sound of guns and cannons soon followed. The lights flashed once and the sounds ceased.
Thrasher, Kaleidoscope, Nova, Titan, and Mongler. The Horsemen.
They weren't the first villain team. It would be impossible to pin that down. But they were the most dangerous on record. A group based on the belief that those with powers were chosen by god, and that the time of reckoning was upon the world.
Mongler only joined for revenge against Alexandria, hoping the extra firepower would be enough.
They are in for a shock.
Legend floated in the air, arms crossed. Alexandria and Hero to his right, Eidolon to his left. Below them stood the Horsemen in their mechanical armor, riding dark black robotic horses. Their hooves, Legend noticed, had some sort of repulsors beneath them.
"They don't look happy to see us." Noted Hero.
"Gee," Alexandria deadpanned, "I wonder why? Me and Mongler left on such good terms too."
Eidolon snorted, but Legend kept his eye on the villains, mentally going over their respective powers. Any object that Thrasher touched "came alive" so to speak: streets would rise up and entangle heroes in tentacles, buildings twist to slam themselves into their targets in a stunning display of physic breaking, cars literally leaping to attack.
Kaleidoscope created a multicolored cloud, with each color having an exotic effect. Reports indicated that he had no control over what color he used. Nova was a living flame, capable of firing thin streams of plasma capable of slicing through buses and judging by the surrounding wreckage, more than a few tanks.
Titan was the genius and their leader, as he so loved to claim, building their advanced armor and robot horses. No other powers had been noted from him. Hero had been less than impressed.
"Crappy materials," he noted as they watched video footage of their prior attacks, "and very shoddy workmanship. Like the guy can't decide what the hell he wants out of it."
Shoddy workmanship or not, the armor had been seen tanking more than it's share of rpg's by the Guardsmen. Nothing to be nervous about, but it didn't hurt to take note.
Mongler was the only one without armor, somehow reclaiming his previous costume of metal panther mask. His body was surrounded by blue light and the light was moving, almost like it was alive. He could use the light like a super-powered chainsaw, ripping and tearing through pure concrete and steel. In a pinch, he could also fire short ranged "bursts" of energy, capable of leaving a bloody smear on whoever it came in contact with.
Bullets had no effect, destroyed as they touch the light. Alexandria's fist had no such problems last time.
Eidolon turned to Legend, "Do we strike first? Or do we go with the surrender or be destroyed route?"
Legend raised an eyebrow, "Heroes don't say that."
"You're thinking of Alien Invasion movies man," Hero chuckled, sonic pistol twirling in his hands.
"Hm, I don't know. Blake Thorburn often offered declarations of surrender to the villains." chimed in Alexandria.
"Didn't he end up as a tree? Not the best example I think."
"Hush," Legend spoke not unkindly, ignoring Alexandria's frown at a smirking Hero, "They look like they are going to speak."
The Horsemen had organized themselves, Titan at the front while the others distanced themselves at the back, their horses not touching the ground. Mongler stood off to the side, glaring at Alexandria.
"Legend!" Shouted Titan, his voice confident and mechanical. Legend could see his grip on his pole-arm tighten, "We have no quarrel with you young hero! Same goes for the rest of you men! We are merely here to help repay the debt that our newest Rider has with Alexandria!"
"So they attack the entire city?" Eidolon sounded confused, "Are they insane?"
"Probably." Murmured Legend. To Titan he spoke, "We don't have to end this with violence! Drop your weapons and remove everything but your helmets! You are endangering dozens of civilian lives and law enforcement officers-"
"Alexandria!" Bellowed Mongler, cutting off the rest of Legend's speech, "You bitch! You'll pay for what you did to me and Strongarm!"
Legend glanced at Alexandria.
She looked just as confused as him, "I flicked his chest with my finger. He had one cracked rib, at most. I punched Mongler, but he was out like a light, not even a broken jaw."
"You humiliated us!"
"Is he that pissed over losing to a teenage girl?" Hero asked bemusedly. Alexandria only shrugged.
Something must have set him off, because Mongler let out an inhumane roar, and his horse was off and flying towards the heroes. Legend noted the surprised reactions the other Horsemen had before they followed suit. Mongler was still screaming in rage.
"Remember how we planned this," he glanced at Hero and Alexandria, then to Eidolon, "Good luck everyone."

(August 2, 2000)
"Remind me why I chose to be team leader again?"
Hero looked up from his workshop, pieces of what looked like a battery before him, and smiled, "Because I declined."
"Right." Legend paused for a moment, pen roving over the documents, "Remind me to dock your pay later."
"Heh, I'll just ask Director Brown to challenge it."
"Yes, well, if anyone could it would be you."
Hero took on an neutral expression, "Not sure I know what you are talking about."
Legend just gave him the look. Hero promptly turned away and restarted his Tinkering. Legend sighed and shook his head.
One of these days I'll get him to admit somethings up with the two of them.
Eidolon took that moment to walk in with Alexandria, Doormaker's portal winking shut behind them, "Hero, never, ever, leave me alone in Chicago again. I don't think I can handle that much Mouse Protector by myself. If I hear another mouse pun or innuendo it'll be way too soon."
The Tinker just chuckled, "You still owe me two favors."
"I'm glad Chevalier is fitting in," Alexandria chimed in as she picked up a piece of tech form Hero's desk, ignoring his squawk of indignation, "There's a bright future for that boy, I'm sure of it. Same with that little protege of yours Andy. Colin wasn't it?"
Hero growled, annoyed, "Yes, he has quite... the.. drive- Stop moving!"
Legend watched in amusement as Hero tried in vain to get back the tech in her hands while Alexandria calmly side-stepped every attempt. Eidolon gave him a knowing look and found his seat nearby, releasing an audible groan of pleasure as he relaxed.
It's the moments like this, Legend thought, paperwork forgotten for the time being, the moments when we aren't on the job that we are the closest.
He only hoped his eventual family would be this close whenever it happened.
Hero had "pinned" Alexandria's arms above her head and was panting exhaustively, glaring down at the shorter heroine. She just smiled ruefully.
"Finally... got you..." He panted, easily taking the piece out of her hand.
Her smile rose just a bit, "Indeed you did." She shuffled a bit, "You can let go now."
Hero blinked rapidly, turning to look at Legend. Legend was looking everywhere except at them, a goofy smile on his face, while Eidolon didn't even try to hide his amusement.
Hero looked back to a still smiling Alexandria and jumped back like he touch hot metal. He looked around awkwardly, but when no words came he simply walked back to his desk, trying and failing to not look like a deer in headlights.
Alexandria practically radiated victory.
Legend went back to his paper work and his smile grew as a small hum left Alexandria's lips.

(Now)
Drones were shot out of the sky, vaporized before he even knew he was there. The few Bird-Drones that had avoided the initial onslaught charged him, red laser blasts firing at the attacker like machine guns.
Legend let them, feeling the energy bouncing off of his form while simultaneously healing any injuries he may have gotten. They felt like nothing more than a little mild heat.
With a wave of his hand, blue lasers shot forth, bending in odd angles and striking the avian menaces, flash freezing them in seconds. He watched as they fell harmlessly from the sky and onto the near empty streets.
The crowd of people below paused in their advancement as he battled the cyborgs. He gave them a nod and they began to move.
A minute didn't even pass before another problem made it's entrance. The wall of an apparently abandoned building exploded outwards, sending debris into the crowd, though nothing substantial hit anyone. The monster that ran out from it however, looked like it was most certainly willing to hurt someone.
It looked like a blend between a lizard and a tiger, it's body criss-crossed with scars and mechanical applications. The monster let out a roar that sent the crowd scrambling back, parents putting their children behind them.
Legend didn't even move a hand before a black blur slammed into the monster. The blow sent it tumbling, blood and metal flying everywhere, and when it landed it carved a gap into asphalt as it's bodydug deep into the street.
A second passed by and the monster remained unmoving.
He gave the nod and the crowd started forward again, much more cautiously this time and making sure to go around the crater and corpse. Alexandria floated up beside him, a deep frown etched upon her face. Blood from the creature soaked her shoulder, but it blended in with the dark costume.
She was right about the blood and her costume. You could barely see it.
Alexandria nodded to Legend and a ghost of a smile passed through her expression before being replaced by her stern look, "Legend. Sorry I was late, I needed to verify some more acquisitions for our officers."
"You're updated on the situation then?"
"As much as I can be when the Nine are amok." She practically spat the name, "Always popping up when we need them least."
Legend nodded in agreement, floating above the still moving crowd while Alexandria followed. The shelter wasn't more than a few minutes away. He and Alexandria would be able carry ten at a time, but they didn't have the space to carry too many at once and they'd have to fly at a painstakingly slow space for passenger safety. With the 80 or so unarmed civilians and murderous machines on the prowl, that was a game of Roulette he didn't want to play.
"Is there something else?" Alexandria questioned. Legend didn't even bother to look surprised. He knew she'd see something was wrong.
"The Siberian is a projection," He scanned the surrounding area as he whispered, "We've been fooled all along."
Alexandria paused in surprise, "Are you sure of this? I know it was a possibility, but nothing we've done has proved it."
"Weaver confirmed it. She's just an empty shell." Alexandria paused again before nodding. Weaver was of high standing within the Protectorate and her word was as good as gold, despite her mysterious nature.
"Do we have an idea of where her projector is?"
Was that a tinge of hope there? Anger?
He didn't blame her. He was still feeling the same way.
"Not yet. Weaver's performing checks whenever she can, but..." he shrugged, the message not having to be said.
Alexandria took a deep breath, "So it has a weakness then. Good."
Legend felt a twitch of a smile on his face, "Optimistic. Hero would be proud." He watched as the last of the civilians cleared the corpse and were making considerably faster head way towards the shelter, "We can't tell everyone. If the Siberian catches on-"
"Then she'll run. Or do something we aren't yet prepared for." She finished, "Understood then. Eidolon will have to be informed once he is finished with the Blasphemies."
"Don't forget the Doctor too." A small joke. Alexandria never forgot.
The barest of pauses, yet it was enough for him to wonder if she had heard him. He didn't get the chance to say anything as she spoke, "Of course. I'll tell her once I have the time."
Legend glanced back at her, but her attention was on the crowd below. He bit his lip but said nothing. Had there been another argument with the Doctor? He could understand that then. He'd had his fair share of arguments with the woman ever since Behemoth's rampage, hell, even Eidolon had given her a piece of his mind when the subject of Weaver or Behemoth came up.
A tentative subject that was.
Damn it Hero, why couldn't you have been the leader?
But he wasn't. By all rights he should have, but he turned down the position, delegating himself as an armorer of sorts. He had been the knot that tied everything together, that kept Alexandria's idea of the team strong.
Then the Siberian had killed him. Legend always felt he was to blame: he had been the one to allow the hostage, trying to keep the Siberian cornered. He should have known what a cornered cat was capable of. Alexandria was living proof of that.
Now they had the chance to repay the favor. Was it redemption he was seeking? Vengeance? Justice?
Whatever it is, I'm not doing it for myself. This is for Alexandria, for Eidolon, for the countless innocents slaughtered without a care... for Hero.
We are coming for you Siberian.
