Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 18: Ravaging Rapscallions Rapidly Regret Regular Rampages

I think we may have taught Wyld's shard how to make souls. Or at least given it a good start on that.

Fun omake idea: purely by accident, Scion hovers in just the wrong patch of sky for a moment too long and then gets yanked through the portal to Autocthon.
I did an Omake where Scion kind a sorta meets Autocthon.

Ziz was having none of that.

mhmhmh... I wonder... Panacea for Orichalcum!

All in all - inteligence first, and then hit and run tactics. Taking out S9 one by one. Most of all. they cannot be allowed to dictate terms of engagement. This is what allowed the group to survive that long.

I think this vote, that we can deploy our forces as we want them, is a manifestation of our godlike war scores.
In the past, communications are down and heroes/relief are scrambling from fire to fire.. but not this time..

Misc thoughts, PRT Officiers to the hospital since containment foam is probably one of the better tools against the Zombies.

Yep. But again, let's not assume, that Bonesaw is carrying the backpack all day long. I think it is safe bet, she is taking it 'backpack' off when she is working on next 'piece of art'.

It all boils to knowledge of S9 actions.

No we are NOT killing off our friends ESPECIALLY when they happen to be some of the few global teleporters in the world.

edit: ooh interesting idea that probably won't work ... tinker tech involves all sorts of exotic materials. Can the tinkers we have with us make a weapon that only impacts Bonesaw's tinkertech? As in, firing it through walls and it ghosts through them until it hits an S9 member and suddenly a bunch of stuff wired into their bodies fails. Or maybe Legend's bullshit lasers could do something like that

Lots of discussion... Very good. Here's what I think needs to happen, or should happen, as well as summing up a few things:

Crawler and Siberian: Marrow and Weaver (both for obvious reasons and they are decent counters to both of these)

Jack and Shatterbird: Narwhal (as she's good for both offence and defence which is important given shatterbird is there)

Bonesaw, Burnscar and Philharmonic: Wyld (plague counter), Kid Win (Bonesaw must be taken down ASAP), Weld (the perfect counter given that he can literally fuse his ears shut and is just outright immune otherwise)

Mannequin, Bakuda and Philanthropic: Willow (A fast nonlethal takedown of Bakuda? YES PLEASE)

The Hospital: Gallant (for zombie scanning in crowds)

This leaves us with: Slate, Maestro, Feral, Skein, Inquisition, Bulldozer, Gully, Legend, Alexandria, Clockblocker, Who/Suzy, Miss Milita, Chevalier, Bladedancer and Gust.

We know that: Legend and Alexandria prefer to fight Siberian, Wyld Hunt members are better together with other members, Hatchetface will appear randomly somewhere, Mannequin is a sneaky bastard who can most likely avoid tinker sensors, BOMBS EVERYWHERE, Who's power doesn't work against the drones, Bonesaw and Bakuda must be taken alive.

Who needs to go down soon: Bonesaw, Siberian, Bakuda and Jack. Jack can wait a bit, as he's likely to escape anyway.

So, now that I've establish at least the basics, let's see what situation needs what.

Crawler/Siberian: Distraction for Crawler and movers for finding the Siberian projector. Thinkers would speed this up. Stinkbomb removal or immunity.

Jack/Shatterbird: Power and defence. Power to punch through glass shields and defence to take glass rain and razor cuts. Something to hit a flyer too. Anti tinkerbomb capabilities.

Bonesaw/Burnscar/Philharmonic: Plague defence, fire suppression, sound suppression, non lethal takedown for bonesaw. Ability to move to keep up with Burnscar.

Mannequin/Bakuda/Philanthropic: Anti tinkerbomb capabilities, and lots of it. Something to counter flying bombs. Something to keep track of the sneaky bastard.

Hospital: Crowd control and zombie identification. PRT Officers with foam here would be ideal.

Backup forces: Someone who can react quickly to Hatchetface and take him prisoner for use against Crawler. Long range fighters are ideal for attacking outside his range (Legend and Gust come to mind).

Kid Win Note: I chose Kid Win to go to Bonesaw because Shatterbird might be able to remotely wreck the anchor before it's used. Slate MIGHT (key word there, might) be able to shield it, but I'd rather not take that chance and instead take a more certain use out of the anchor by using it on bonesaw.

I'm tired so, I'll let you guys look over this and hopefully this will help make choices easier for you. Goodnight.

i think relying on the Triumvirate to spot Manton is a bad plan. They don't (publicly) know it's Manton, and they're too important to send around looking into every van and abandoned house for a projector that only we as the readers know that they would recognize. it's impossible to justify giving them that task IC without knowing it's Manton first. Chevalier or anyone else who has a secondary power to detect other capes would be a better choice, but he most likely can't cover ground fast enough for that to work well, and it runs a risk of getting him killed if Manton spots him looking before he spots Manton and reports in.
Basically our strategies for Manton hunting are:
1) Let Legend and Alexandria spot him and turn him into collateral damage. Effectiveness high, and they are justified to be on site due to fighting Crawler and Siberian.
2) Use Weaver to search. This is slow to work, there's too many civilians to scan individually.
3) Use Chevalier to scan the crowd for parahumans, then tag revealed parahumans with a tranquilizer. Fast, but risky for Chevalier.

Hmm...I'm leaning to 3 now, especially if we can deploy Alexandria elsewhere as a result. Legend would still be the best counter for Crawler, especially with Weaver directing the form of the attacks. One way to defeat Crawler is to simply damage him such that his mutations render him helpless, and we have the stats to make such a plan.

No chance involved. We know for a fact that Slate's darkness works on the Scream, we've seen it demonstrated on screen.

For option 1, remember that Manton drives around in a sealed van and neither Alexandria nor Legend have Weaver's X-ray vision. They would literally have to to go looking into every car and building in the hopes that they spot someone fishy in order to spot Manton, without any prior meta knowledge that it's going to work. Would it really make sense IC for us to give two of the Triumvirate orders to go around and do that instead of actually fighting? Would it be IC for them to accept such a task while other capes and civilians are getting killed? Spotting Manton comes down purely to luck in that scenario.

Naw, we don't know that they know about Manton, but they would be spending their time trying to find him while we fight. However! Chevalier can see the shard 'glow' regardless, so I'm working it in.

Bonus, we already know in character that Chevalier knows, while I'm pretty sure it's not part of his PRT records.

Ok, I think we need to change how we're looking at this a bit. We have a lot of goals here, but we aren't likely to meet all of them. We need to pick what we focus on. This is not going to be over in a single day. We don't want to view these as just individual battles, but as different operations which connect to our overall campaign against the S9. We should determine what our goals are, which goals are important enough to warrant a stunt to increase the chance of success, and which goals can wait. Once we've determined what our goals are, then we distribute capes.

So, thinking on things, I think we should give up on rescuing the twins for today. That means Jack and Bonesaw will escape, but we need to be absolutely sure we can catch both at the same time to ensure both Uzu and Tatsu survive. As such, our objectives should be to kill or capture Jack's heavy hitters so as to deny him important resources.

Here's my thoughts:

* Docks Shelter
-- Targets: Large civilian population, Marrow, Weaver
-- Enemies: Crawler, Siberian, Drones, Stinkbomb
GOALS:
Strategic, Primary: Kill the Siberian
Strategic, Secondary: Kill Crawler
Tactical: Protect the civilians (requires both Weaver and Marrow to stay)

* Street King Castle
-- Targets: Overleague members, Street King members
-- Enemies: Jack Slash, Shatterbird, Drones, Bombs, Controlled!Tatsu
GOALS:
Strategic, Primary: Prevent casualties on our side, do not kill Tatsu
Strategic, Secondary: Kill/Capture Shatterbird

* Boulder Builder Mountain
-- Targets: Boulder Builders members, Geode, Xylophone
-- Enemies: Burnscar, Bonesaw, Zombies, Plagues, Drones, Controlled!Uzu, Controlled!Philharmonic
GOALS:
Strategic, Primary: Prevent parahuman casualties on our side, do not kill Uzu
Strategic, Secondary: Kill/Capture Burnscar, Rescue Philharmonic

* PRT Downtown HQ
-- Targets: Director Uriel, PRT leadership, Armsmaster, Dragonsuit
-- Enemies: Mannequin, Bakuda, Drones, Bombs, Controlled!Philanthropic
GOALS:
Strategic, Primary: Keep PRT leadership intact, Capture Bakuda (Stunt this)
Strategic, Secondary: Kill Mannequin, Rescue Philanthropic

* Philadelphia General Hospital
-- Targets: ~2,000 civilians
-- Enemies: Drones, Bombs, Zombies
GOALS:
Strategic, Primary: Prevent casualties on our side
Tactical: Protect civilians

I'm thinking we need to make it appear like we lost at least two of the battles here. Jack will certainly escalate things if we kick his ass too badly. If he thinks he came out of things roughly even, he shouldn't make things too much worse. In reality, we should aim to come out with minimal losses while at the same time denying Jack some of his more potent resources.

At the Docks, we need to end the Siberian. Manton's projection is too dangerous, and there isn't really a counter for it other than just staying out of reach. The Siberian has to go. Period.

At Street King Castle and Boulder Builder Mountain, I suggest we retreat rather than fight seriously. Get the groups being targeted out, maybe kill, capture, or injure Shatterbird and Burnscar, but make it look like we ran in terror to play to Jack's ego so he thinks he won those two battles. Again, in reality we get our guys out with minimal casualties so we can integrate the parahuman groups there into our forces. Holding those positions will also be untenable so long as Uzu and Tatsu have been there and the Nine have them, so we have no reason to try to hold them anyways.

At the PRT Downtown HQ, we need to capture Bakuda. We can't kill her because she's likely got a dead man's switch set up, but it should be possible to capture her.

Jack probably doesn't expect to win at the hospital. It's a distraction to keep our forces divided. Not much special we need to do here, just protect the civilians without losing any of our own.

Hatchet Face is the wild card here, and I think we should keep Legend in reserve to go deal with him wherever he shows up. Legend can fly extremely fast, and should be able to kill him from range.

I see where you are going with the exotic effects - dump Crawler in one. If we can find an unexploded exotic and catch him in it then instant as well as ongoing effects become available.

I'd say we start by killing Manton because the Siberian can just walk through any attempts to hold her off from her targets. So we need to hold her attention by forcing her to defend Jack or Bonesaw. We can only really press one of them because we only have one teleport blocker. Bonesaw is better at mass destruction so let's go for her.

Wyld Hunt have good powers for containing Bonesaw and controlled!Philharmonic. Kid Win has the teleport blocker. Willow has good synergy with Wyld and Bonesaw won't escape her pain sense while wearing a twin. They need a responsible adult - I'd go with Narwhal, the hunt answer to her, she has the prestige to get cooperation from the Boulders, she can protect her team and kill Burnscar and cripple Bonesaw on sight.

We want Legend as flying reserve. Gust as well, high enough that Shatterbird can't just chuck glass at him, looking out for her, smoke from Burnscar, Hatchet Face.

At the Docks: Who and many, many insects are searching for Manton. I'd say EOA invisible in person as well but we may need the anima to distract the Siberian so EOA directing the fight in person and concentrating on killing their drones with our drones + crossbow. Also look at Crawler with diagnostic vision. FPoP and Bladedancer are keeping Siberian's face full of knife. If Bulldozer is Hulk/Juggernaut level he can move Crawler about even if he can't really hurt him. He may need a supply of girders to use as implements depending on his own tankiness. Alexandria can likewise wrestle him and, when we find a suitable one, dump him in an exotic effect (worth a free action perhaps).

Once the Boulder Builder Mountain team have engaged, let Siberian overhear that the teleport blocker has worked and they have authorisation to maim or kill. That should get the Siberian running across town and maybe force Manton to move too which could give him away. Marrow and Kali stay on the Siberian so that the kids know when they need to get clear then try and flay Bonesaw. We start using our X ray vision to look for Manton too. The moment we ID him Legend glasses the fucker.

Chevalier and Miss Militia go to the Castle - send in enough heavy ordnance and Slash will have to skedaddle. Miss Militia does it by indirect fire because she can't tank and she's hoping to draw out Shatterbird for a kill shot.

[ ] Docks Shelter: Marrow, Weaver, Legend, Chevalier
-[ ] Stunt: Bolts of light leaving odd afterimages rain down upon Crawler as Vajra battles the giant parahuman, swinging around a pillar to pierce deeply into a joint with an earthshaking crunch. Crawler's mobility gradually eroded by his very own defense. The swarm reforms even as Siberian rips through yet another decoy, pointing the way to more stragglers for Chevalier to 'rescue'.

Good grief this vote is taking a lot of work.

I don't think we should assign Legend anywhere specific unless there's something that only he is suited for. He's fast enough that he can be a rapid responder to more than one location depending on if one place finishes faster than another.

One way to take down Crawler is to use damage he's not already resistant to, attacking in such a pattern to force his defensive adaptations to cripple him.

This requires either a source of damage he cannot become immune to(Sting, Alchemical bullshit), or someone with an infinite array of high damage possible attack modes(Eidolon, Legend), OR a ridiculously large number of well coordinated Blasters(or a properly applied Bakuda Barrage).

Legend is the only one available at the moment.

Weaver specifically noted that Panacea wasn't a good choice for conversion

Well yes, but if she changes a bit more and gets a suitable epic motivation;
"To give Motonic Souls to Everyone! (Including perfect teeth/digestion/sight and optionally chlorophyll bases biosynthesis)"

----

[] Weaver vs Siberian.
-- It's a game, you are playing. You get of sight to long, someone dies. You fly, someone dies. She wants to smell your fear. "Chevalier, in position at the Platt Memorial Bridge". So far no luck. You keep playing the most dangerous shell game.

-- By a breath you dodge the last swipe, when the Siberian suddenly vanishes. "Got him! He's shielded his car!" "What did you do?!" "Sudden giant insect!" You grin. "Dragon requesting pickup". Turnabout.

(Idea is to move from Philadelphia Navy Yard to Airport, there are very few roads there and only 2-3 bridges that have to be monitored)

Listen to some of you...'we should give up on getting Jack and/or Bonesaw, we should give up on rescuing the twins...'

Quitter talk, that's what it is.

And saying we shouldn't prioritize Jack when freaking LEGEND said we should prioritize taking the twit out if possible during the briefing?

We can take out Jack, Bonesaw, and retrieve the twins.

The simplest way to take out Jack and still have Kid Win's device for Bonesaw...is to have Weaver use optical shroud and shoot the SOB. No warning to teleport away. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am. Screw the narrative. We're motherfucking Exalted.

But I get the feeling people won't accept Weaver leaving civilians, even though killing Jack for certain NOW when we have our best chance to will save more lives. So I will offer alternatives.

With the drones around, the enemy can be aware of Who, but most of our allies won't be. OTOH, Who now has Suzy to protect her.

Siberian/Crawler: Marrow, Weaver, Alexandria, Chevalier.

Chevalier to track down the Siberian's projector.

I considered Who/Suzy here, but so long as she's someplace where there's somebody else who can take care of the drones she should be alright. And hopefully PRT forces equipped with some means to at least be aware of her if she's in distress.

Jack/Shatterbird:

Narwhal, Maestro, Kid Win, Miss Militia, PRT forces

Even if just twitching/face planting....increase that seven-fold with IEU and Jack won't be able to walk or lift a knife, let alone dodge anything. Kid Win keeps him from porting out. Makes him easy prey for the PRT forces (though Weaver would be better) to kill or capture. Narwhal makes mincemeat out of Shatterbird. Miss Militia's there to coordinate the other capes, but she could be put to use elsewhere.

Possible: Who/Suzy: Kid Win can mess with the drones as well, allowing Who to also get the drop on Shatterbird and Jack.

Burnscar/Bonesaw:

Weld, Wyld, Skein, Slate, Feral, Inquisition, Clockblocker

Slate should disrupt Phiilharmonic and provide plenty of cover to prevent Bonesaw tele-hugging Wyld. Clockblocker's there to capture.

Mannequin/Bakuda:

Armsmaster, Dragonsuit, Willow, Gully, Bladedancer

Hospital: Bulldozer, Gallant, PRT forces

Possible addition: Who/Suzy

Legend and Gust are mobile artillery/reserves. Though I'm waffling on sticking Legend against Mannequin and Bakuda as he should be able to really fuck with their shit and dodge most things they can throw at him. If so switch out with Gully and then add her to the hospital to shore things up there.

(Here's some extra XP heading your guy's way! This was actually really fun to right. Never written from the POV of Legend before but it was an interesting experiment. Timeline might be a little screwy at parts though.)

Light the Way
(May 20, 1988)

Their first debut.

Los Angeles was under siege. The National Guard filled the once busy streets with armored cars and tanks, soldiers flooding houses and apartments, trying to find a better vantage point. Their faces were full of fear. They weren't prepared for this.

In the distance, a gallery of lights rose over the horizon and the sound of guns and cannons soon followed. The lights flashed once and the sounds ceased.

Thrasher, Kaleidoscope, Nova, Titan, and Mongler. The Horsemen.

They weren't the first villain team. It would be impossible to pin that down. But they were the most dangerous on record. A group based on the belief that those with powers were chosen by god, and that the time of reckoning was upon the world.

Mongler only joined for revenge against Alexandria, hoping the extra firepower would be enough.

They are in for a shock.

Legend floated in the air, arms crossed. Alexandria and Hero to his right, Eidolon to his left. Below them stood the Horsemen in their mechanical armor, riding dark black robotic horses. Their hooves, Legend noticed, had some sort of repulsors beneath them.

"They don't look happy to see us." Noted Hero.

"Gee," Alexandria deadpanned, "I wonder why? Me and Mongler left on such good terms too."

Eidolon snorted, but Legend kept his eye on the villains, mentally going over their respective powers. Any object that Thrasher touched "came alive" so to speak: streets would rise up and entangle heroes in tentacles, buildings twist to slam themselves into their targets in a stunning display of physic breaking, cars literally leaping to attack.

Kaleidoscope created a multicolored cloud, with each color having an exotic effect. Reports indicated that he had no control over what color he used. Nova was a living flame, capable of firing thin streams of plasma capable of slicing through buses and judging by the surrounding wreckage, more than a few tanks.

Titan was the genius and their leader, as he so loved to claim, building their advanced armor and robot horses. No other powers had been noted from him. Hero had been less than impressed.

"Crappy materials," he noted as they watched video footage of their prior attacks, "and very shoddy workmanship. Like the guy can't decide what the hell he wants out of it."

Shoddy workmanship or not, the armor had been seen tanking more than it's share of rpg's by the Guardsmen. Nothing to be nervous about, but it didn't hurt to take note.

Mongler was the only one without armor, somehow reclaiming his previous costume of metal panther mask. His body was surrounded by blue light and the light was moving, almost like it was alive. He could use the light like a super-powered chainsaw, ripping and tearing through pure concrete and steel. In a pinch, he could also fire short ranged "bursts" of energy, capable of leaving a bloody smear on whoever it came in contact with.

Bullets had no effect, destroyed as they touch the light. Alexandria's fist had no such problems last time.

Eidolon turned to Legend, "Do we strike first? Or do we go with the surrender or be destroyed route?"

Legend raised an eyebrow, "Heroes don't say that."

"You're thinking of Alien Invasion movies man," Hero chuckled, sonic pistol twirling in his hands.

"Hm, I don't know. Blake Thorburn often offered declarations of surrender to the villains." chimed in Alexandria.

"Didn't he end up as a tree? Not the best example I think."

"Hush," Legend spoke not unkindly, ignoring Alexandria's frown at a smirking Hero, "They look like they are going to speak."

The Horsemen had organized themselves, Titan at the front while the others distanced themselves at the back, their horses not touching the ground. Mongler stood off to the side, glaring at Alexandria.

"Legend!" Shouted Titan, his voice confident and mechanical. Legend could see his grip on his pole-arm tighten, "We have no quarrel with you young hero! Same goes for the rest of you men! We are merely here to help repay the debt that our newest Rider has with Alexandria!"

"So they attack the entire city?" Eidolon sounded confused, "Are they insane?"

"Probably." Murmured Legend. To Titan he spoke, "We don't have to end this with violence! Drop your weapons and remove everything but your helmets! You are endangering dozens of civilian lives and law enforcement officers-"

"Alexandria!" Bellowed Mongler, cutting off the rest of Legend's speech, "You bitch! You'll pay for what you did to me and Strongarm!"

Legend glanced at Alexandria.

She looked just as confused as him, "I flicked his chest with my finger. He had one cracked rib, at most. I punched Mongler, but he was out like a light, not even a broken jaw."

"You humiliated us!"

"Is he that pissed over losing to a teenage girl?" Hero asked bemusedly. Alexandria only shrugged.

Something must have set him off, because Mongler let out an inhumane roar, and his horse was off and flying towards the heroes. Legend noted the surprised reactions the other Horsemen had before they followed suit. Mongler was still screaming in rage.

"Remember how we planned this," he glanced at Hero and Alexandria, then to Eidolon, "Good luck everyone."

*****************************

(August 2, 2000)

"Remind me why I chose to be team leader again?"

Hero looked up from his workshop, pieces of what looked like a battery before him, and smiled, "Because I declined."

"Right." Legend paused for a moment, pen roving over the documents, "Remind me to dock your pay later."

"Heh, I'll just ask Director Brown to challenge it."

"Yes, well, if anyone could it would be you."

Hero took on an neutral expression, "Not sure I know what you are talking about."

Legend just gave him the look. Hero promptly turned away and restarted his Tinkering. Legend sighed and shook his head.

One of these days I'll get him to admit somethings up with the two of them.

Eidolon took that moment to walk in with Alexandria, Doormaker's portal winking shut behind them, "Hero, never, ever, leave me alone in Chicago again. I don't think I can handle that much Mouse Protector by myself. If I hear another mouse pun or innuendo it'll be way too soon."

The Tinker just chuckled, "You still owe me two favors."

"I'm glad Chevalier is fitting in," Alexandria chimed in as she picked up a piece of tech form Hero's desk, ignoring his squawk of indignation, "There's a bright future for that boy, I'm sure of it. Same with that little protege of yours Andy. Colin wasn't it?"

Hero growled, annoyed, "Yes, he has quite... the.. drive- Stop moving!"

Legend watched in amusement as Hero tried in vain to get back the tech in her hands while Alexandria calmly side-stepped every attempt. Eidolon gave him a knowing look and found his seat nearby, releasing an audible groan of pleasure as he relaxed.

It's the moments like this, Legend thought, paperwork forgotten for the time being, the moments when we aren't on the job that we are the closest.

He only hoped his eventual family would be this close whenever it happened.

Hero had "pinned" Alexandria's arms above her head and was panting exhaustively, glaring down at the shorter heroine. She just smiled ruefully.

"Finally... got you..." He panted, easily taking the piece out of her hand.

Her smile rose just a bit, "Indeed you did." She shuffled a bit, "You can let go now."

Hero blinked rapidly, turning to look at Legend. Legend was looking everywhere except at them, a goofy smile on his face, while Eidolon didn't even try to hide his amusement.

Hero looked back to a still smiling Alexandria and jumped back like he touch hot metal. He looked around awkwardly, but when no words came he simply walked back to his desk, trying and failing to not look like a deer in headlights.

Alexandria practically radiated victory.

Legend went back to his paper work and his smile grew as a small hum left Alexandria's lips.

********************

(Now)

Drones were shot out of the sky, vaporized before he even knew he was there. The few Bird-Drones that had avoided the initial onslaught charged him, red laser blasts firing at the attacker like machine guns.

Legend let them, feeling the energy bouncing off of his form while simultaneously healing any injuries he may have gotten. They felt like nothing more than a little mild heat.

With a wave of his hand, blue lasers shot forth, bending in odd angles and striking the avian menaces, flash freezing them in seconds. He watched as they fell harmlessly from the sky and onto the near empty streets.

The crowd of people below paused in their advancement as he battled the cyborgs. He gave them a nod and they began to move.

A minute didn't even pass before another problem made it's entrance. The wall of an apparently abandoned building exploded outwards, sending debris into the crowd, though nothing substantial hit anyone. The monster that ran out from it however, looked like it was most certainly willing to hurt someone.

It looked like a blend between a lizard and a tiger, it's body criss-crossed with scars and mechanical applications. The monster let out a roar that sent the crowd scrambling back, parents putting their children behind them.

Legend didn't even move a hand before a black blur slammed into the monster. The blow sent it tumbling, blood and metal flying everywhere, and when it landed it carved a gap into asphalt as it's bodydug deep into the street.

A second passed by and the monster remained unmoving.

He gave the nod and the crowd started forward again, much more cautiously this time and making sure to go around the crater and corpse. Alexandria floated up beside him, a deep frown etched upon her face. Blood from the creature soaked her shoulder, but it blended in with the dark costume.

She was right about the blood and her costume. You could barely see it.

Alexandria nodded to Legend and a ghost of a smile passed through her expression before being replaced by her stern look, "Legend. Sorry I was late, I needed to verify some more acquisitions for our officers."

"You're updated on the situation then?"

"As much as I can be when the Nine are amok." She practically spat the name, "Always popping up when we need them least."

Legend nodded in agreement, floating above the still moving crowd while Alexandria followed. The shelter wasn't more than a few minutes away. He and Alexandria would be able carry ten at a time, but they didn't have the space to carry too many at once and they'd have to fly at a painstakingly slow space for passenger safety. With the 80 or so unarmed civilians and murderous machines on the prowl, that was a game of Roulette he didn't want to play.

"Is there something else?" Alexandria questioned. Legend didn't even bother to look surprised. He knew she'd see something was wrong.

"The Siberian is a projection," He scanned the surrounding area as he whispered, "We've been fooled all along."

Alexandria paused in surprise, "Are you sure of this? I know it was a possibility, but nothing we've done has proved it."

"Weaver confirmed it. She's just an empty shell." Alexandria paused again before nodding. Weaver was of high standing within the Protectorate and her word was as good as gold, despite her mysterious nature.

"Do we have an idea of where her projector is?"

Was that a tinge of hope there? Anger?

He didn't blame her. He was still feeling the same way.

"Not yet. Weaver's performing checks whenever she can, but..." he shrugged, the message not having to be said.

Alexandria took a deep breath, "So it has a weakness then. Good."

Legend felt a twitch of a smile on his face, "Optimistic. Hero would be proud." He watched as the last of the civilians cleared the corpse and were making considerably faster head way towards the shelter, "We can't tell everyone. If the Siberian catches on-"

"Then she'll run. Or do something we aren't yet prepared for." She finished, "Understood then. Eidolon will have to be informed once he is finished with the Blasphemies."

"Don't forget the Doctor too." A small joke. Alexandria never forgot.

The barest of pauses, yet it was enough for him to wonder if she had heard him. He didn't get the chance to say anything as she spoke, "Of course. I'll tell her once I have the time."

Legend glanced back at her, but her attention was on the crowd below. He bit his lip but said nothing. Had there been another argument with the Doctor? He could understand that then. He'd had his fair share of arguments with the woman ever since Behemoth's rampage, hell, even Eidolon had given her a piece of his mind when the subject of Weaver or Behemoth came up.

A tentative subject that was.

Damn it Hero, why couldn't you have been the leader?

But he wasn't. By all rights he should have, but he turned down the position, delegating himself as an armorer of sorts. He had been the knot that tied everything together, that kept Alexandria's idea of the team strong.

Then the Siberian had killed him. Legend always felt he was to blame: he had been the one to allow the hostage, trying to keep the Siberian cornered. He should have known what a cornered cat was capable of. Alexandria was living proof of that.

Now they had the chance to repay the favor. Was it redemption he was seeking? Vengeance? Justice?

Whatever it is, I'm not doing it for myself. This is for Alexandria, for Eidolon, for the countless innocents slaughtered without a care... for Hero.

We are coming for you Siberian.

now the way I see it is PRT HQ and BBM are priority defense points based on having people we want to save

looking at the Threats after the Docks(Crawler, Siberian) BBM and PRT HQ have it the worst.
at BBM:
1.the Plague needs to be eliminated or contained to prevent its spread to the greater part of the city.
2.Bonesaw should be captured and Burnscar killed(as there are permanent suns there's no longer a way to bring her out of her power induced psychosis)
at PRT HQ you've got Bakuda with her exotic bombs and a controlled Telekinetic
Mannequin is of lesser importance and one of the weakest of the 9 when it comes to combat( to say that her isn't a danger)

At the docks our side will be fighting with a severe handy cap as the Stinkbomb will not effect any of the enemies they've sent (Crawler[immune], Siberian[projection], Drones[robotic])

some potential counters.
Gust at the docks can remove the Stinkbomb leveling the playing field, this is important if we're sending anyone other than weld to the docks as other than him everyone else on our roster breathes.
Wyld needs to be at BBM to counter Bonesaw and her plagues (because she's teamed up with Burnscar those Plagues are going to be extra resilient and heat resistant making other options less likely of being able of counter the plagues cleanly).

What are the odds that throwing Crawler into one of Bakuda's suns will work?
If surface temperatures are >1400 Celsius, the core temperatures should be significantly higher.
Possible, but I wouldn't count on it. Grom seems to be nixing the obvious solutions, and Crawler is probably already rather heat resistant. Doesn't mean that Marrow couldn't try, since ISF would no sell the heat (the sun is a lingering trap that lost its intent to harm soon after it went off).

=======

On using Gust:
- First thing he does is channel away the stinkbomb so people can function.
- Afterwards his primary focus becomes Hatchet Face duty. He hovers in a safe but convenient location to respond to wherever Hatchet Face shows up. His job is to render Hatchet Face unconscious via asphyxiation, then use a cable/flight rig to stay out of Hatchet Face's range while flying him into range of Crawler. If the Siberian team is quick enough Legend can assist in incapacitating Hatchet Face.

Dealing with the Siberian:
-Chevalier is a good idea for Manton hunting, I will definitely incorporate him into that plan.
-Legend + Alexandria are also good for Manton-duty as they know what he looks like and both can kill Manton before he can react if they get the drop on him.
-Weaver forms the final member of the search team, using medical scan and tranq wasps to look for the Master. Tranq wasps will be really useful here (and we should assign XP to protect them) as they can quickly narrow down the field of suspects even without us knowing about Manton in particular.
-Who performs imperceptible stealth testing using tranqs, or tail Manton if we botch his takedown until he lowers his guard.

Once the Siberian is dealt with:
- Weaver goes to deal with Jack Slash. Optical Shroud + aimed Explosive Bolt headshot = GG. Attacking from shroud means Jack won't know we're there (we fail to register with Broadcast because Shroud messes with esoteric senses), and an aimed headshot means he can't use the teleport as a flurry-breaker. Jack doesn't wear a helmet and we know from previous experience that heatshots do extra damage.
- Legend gets assigned to help out help out Gust in locating/neutralizing Hatchet Face, assist B&B group if they're having trouble, or serve as roving trouble shooter.
- Alexandria helps Marrow lock down Crawler if Marrow is having trouble remaining mote neutral. Otherwise relocates to help whoever is having greatest trouble that isn't B&B group.
- Who moves to become spotter/evac for Jack Slash. She is not to engage.
- Chevalier moves to Hospital to reinforce civilian hospital defense.

Dealing with Crawler:
- Marrow isn't trying to do damage here, but stall for time. That means spending a lot of time in the air being generally annoying and holding Crawlers attention until a more permanent solution is found.
- Primary solution is use Gust to secure Hatchet Face and use his null aura to kill Crawler.
- Secondary solution is to secure esoteric Bakuda bombs and overwhelm his defenses like they did in canon by using a whole bunch at once.

Once Crawler is dealt with:
- Will probably be too late to reinforce other groups.
- If not, assist Mannequin + Bakuda group. Use clinch to subdue Bakuda.

Or have Weaver use Mass-Penetrating Scan to look for weaknesses and see if she can pinpoint Crawler's core.

Hatchet Face might not show up until later in any of the fights.

Do you have any thoughts on who should be handling Jack and Shatterbird until Weaver can get there? We don't want him teleporting out before that.

I'm still backing my groupings regarding Jack/Shatterbird and Burnscar/Bonesaw. Maestro, Kid Win, and Narwhal (maybe some others, with PRT forces), should actually be able to kill Shatterbird and keep Jack occupied or capture him.

Though I still say Weaver going straight for Jack is the best way to go. Kill him ASAP to get him for sure. Then we can coordinate efforts to tear apart the rest of the Nine.

Unless we have a really good plan for a stunt to kill Crawler then I agree that stalling for time is the best thing with him.

Actually...Legend would be good to take out the Siberian (and can dodge her). Alexandria would wreck Mannequin and Bakuda. Or vice versa.

The benefit of recognizing Manton doesn't really apply though. Legend and Alexandria may suspect but they don't know it's him, and he's hidden in a van. If Weaver sees a concentrating cape in a van we're not going to bother verifying appearance, it's going to be 'TAKE HIM OUT NOW'. We don't want to give him time to summon the Siberian back and give himself invincibility.

Speaking of, we need to have sufficient distraction to the Siberian so that Manton won't be protecting himself.

I like Gust being on Hatchet Face watch. But we should have him helping clear out drones, etc. all over the place in the meantime. Basically he's an artillery strike that can be called in.

.
Double edged sword that is, because while Jack is holding the 9 together he's also reining in some of the more dangerous members because their methods aren't artistic, which by the way is very much why I want to capture Bonesaw and Bakuda before offing Jack.
