Aiding the E.G.G.M.A.N. (Sonic)

[x] A new Badnik you do not know how long anything you produce will last, but your current goal is merely to make your creators forces stronger for the next fight, a new machine type should be a decent hold over until the doctor initiates his overhaul.

Swat-Bot

Hedgehog, Priority One. Hedgehog, Priority One.A Swat-Bot, "Spyhog" The Swat-Bot[2] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog television series. It is a mass-produced robot model created by Dr. Robotnik for his army. This robot model serves a multitude of roles, and is the most...

They really are an ideal soldier platform to deploy. So if they don't exist yet we really should design them.

Well if we do make the Swatbots can we make their appearance like this:
Naturally if you do make them what they'll be like will depend on when in the 'tech tree' you are when you produce em.

If you made em now for instance you'd have to make use animals as power sources or make them extremely rare since cost effective robots that don't use animals don't appear until after Egg Pawns are a thing.

On the other hand, reducing the reliance on animals for a power source could be beneficial. Even if it results in us using something equally silly like potatoes.

[x] A new standard, currently the biggest problem with your creators force seems to be the reliance on animals for power, you could look into some of your creators forays into cheaper machines that need no such thing.

Possible other ways to power robots:

Potatoes
Eggs?
Lemons
Glowing space rocks
Fossil fuels
Solar power
High-capacity batteries
The life blood of the plane

Given that this is a frigging massive limitation that impacts all of our forces this seems like one of the most logical decisions.

I'd seriously love the extra firepower from other options. But simply put if it really limits all our stuff that badly it's gotta go xD.

Just googled the Most Annoying Enemies in the Sonic Franchise and got these as one of the results.
Asterons - Starfish based badniks that can fire five spikes from their points in all directions.
Slicers - Mantis badniks who fire spinning blades in angled directions
Shellcrackers - Slow moving crab badniks. Can be destroyed with a spin attack but have one large claw they can hold out to protect their hitbox.

On their own, they aren't especially dangerous. But the main cause for annoyance is how they can block Sonic's path once he gets some speed, attack from weird angles, or generally throw in cheap shots if he doesn't anticipate their location.

So, I'm thinking we could upgrade these badniks to be more powerful, but also work on anticipating what routes Sonic is most likely to take when trying to stop Eggman. Then, just deploy minions like these along the path to attack him as he draws close or block his way. Though I imagine they could be pretty decent if used in a group. Shellcrackers being tankier and able to either strike or block attacks with their giant claw, slicers having two blades they can use in melee or use in ranged attacks, and the asterons being able to fly and fire a barrage of spikes or missiles at their target.

Screw those things. S C R E W T H O S E T H I N G S !

They are absolutely fuggin vile, trying to play through levels.

Right, backstory time. My father had an old-school Sega Genesis with a Sonic the Hedgehog 2 cartridge that me and my best friend used to play all the time. I could never beat it, and that drove me nuts as a kid. (I eventually managed to during the summer before I went off to college, but that's a different story). Anyway, you wanna know which stage had THREE separate zones? Metropolis. You wanna know which stage had zones long enough that they took kid me >5 minutes to complete? Metropolis. You wanna know which stage was absolutely crawling with all three of these Badniks? F-ING METROPOLIS! Just dear good, lemme give you my salt filled opinion on each of these lil buggers.

Asterons were cheap shots that were more stage hazards then badniks. They'd stay within walls until Sonic got close, then launch their spikes after a ~1 second delay. Alone, where you can see them? They're easily manageable. Except that's not what the game devs did. They either placed them offscreen, in huge rows, or in areas where Sonic had to go up/down giant corkscrews where he was locked to only moving on the y-axis and couldn't change directs fast, or some combination of the three. You have NO IDEA just how many times I got sniped from one off screen. I died a couple of times because even though I avoided the first volley, one spike would be traveling along my route and stay close enough to me that it'd still be loaded, and then I'd run into it because of a slope or dropping down or something.

Slicers were absolutely terrifying to child me. You couldn't spin dash through them because they had their blades hanging out in front, and if you tried to jump at them you'd get hit by them launching their scythe-arms at you. And those things didn't shoot off in angle directions. No, they were boomerang loop-de-loop lil things that hungered for Sonic's blood. I wanna say their blades were homing but I'm not sure.

Absolutely hated Shellcrackers, although they were the least common of the three. There freakishly huge claw was larger than their body, and while Sonic could destroy them by landing on top of them if even a single pixel touched that claw's giant hitbox it was over, man. And it didn't help that they placed those things right after a platforming section above lava or right at the exit of warp tubes.

Buffing them is absolutely diabolical. I love it.

As for enhancements, I have a couple ideas. Make the Asterons and Slicers regenerate points/blades after they're shot out. Give the Shellcracker another Big Meaty Claw on it's other side, so Sonic can only destroy it by getting between both claws and landing a hit on its head.

[x] Past Badniks the good doctor has created a wide variety of machines in the past, perhaps bringing one of these older machines up to date could be of aid to your creator.
-[x] The Unholy Trinity. Asterons, Slicers, and Shellcrackers.

Anyway as an aside I might as well mention how time works. You guys are shortly before the time period of adventure. Updating the 3 Badniks would take 3/5's each while making a large technological overhaul can take anything from 4/5's of that time to the period between the 2 adventure games given the magnitude of the project. The need for animals to make powerful robots is actually a pretty big limitation and even GUN with it's Chaos Drives has to settle for a drop in general quality due get around it. Their is a reason that they like Eggman tend to have pilots for their more powerful machines as opposed to using AI.

I am currently working on the next update, you guys rolled really poorly but since I'm a put of a sad I cut your time in half since I doubt you want to miss the entirety of adventure/be forced to put the project on pause.

One question, this follows the new sonic comics, not the Archie ones, the one made by idw?. If so could we look, to power sources by any gem that is not a chaos emerald in the world?.

Another thing could be possible to make fake chaos emerald's?

Something New
[x] Something New

The reliance on animals for your masters plans is a clear hindrance, after all no matter how many robotic shells the creator can produce it is for little gain if he cannot gather the extra mental capacity needed to boost the machines mental capacity up to workable levels of competence. If you can elimate this weakness the Doctors robotic production should skyrocket.... and a look at the database it seems as if your genius of a creator has a rough concept in the work already.

The 'Egg Pawn' as the doctors notes describe appears to be a roughly humanoid platform meant as an all around combat units., and general labor.... however due to the overall low performance of the frame it was decided that the animals the doctor captured would be better of put into different and more potent combat frames, and naturally putting the same AI used by more advanced machines would be insanely expensive and not worth it in the least.

Now the current wiring for a fully autonomous combat robot is complex and difficult to produce, especially since the majority of computers with such hard wiring are meant to be placed on incredibly complex and difficult to control robotic frames while at the same time having the processing power to keep up with Sonic. However looking over the circuitry again you soon realize that you don't actually need design a new hardwired system from the ground up. Instead your get to work cutting out on some of the most time intensive parts of the already existing operating system for some of the doctors existing machines. The need to make so many many of the cicuits so combat for instance is much lessened so you can afford to use cheaper yet just as durable martials for roughly the same outcome in computational capacity, as the greater amount of empty space within the Egg Pawn chassis means you can expand the circuitry without compromising actual combat capability. You also cut down on the circuits responsible for built in weapons, the Egg Pawns as envision appear to have been tool users and as such do not need same complex systems beyond a halfway decent learning capacity.

With the processing power out of the way you soon find yourself with a new and cheap robotic warrior for the Doctors robotic legions of justice.

It reminds you of your creator.

Oddly enough the Egg Pawns seem both more and less intelligent than the average robot. They are able to use tools well enough and follow instructs.... yet at the same time they also appear to prone to truly stupid errors such as fear and infatuation of all things. Still they should do their jobs as general combat units well enough, even if it will take time to fully integrate them.

Still while fiddling with the base form you where able to implement some variation in their design.

You have 10 Points for Equipment and variations.

Equipment
Egg Spears: A basic melee weapon. 1 Point.
Egg Gun: A light machine gun. 1 Point.
Egg Bazooka: A long ranged weapon that fires a relatively strong laser. 2 Points.

[X] Plan: To Build an Army Worthy of Saru- Eggman!

[X] Egg Spears
[X] Egg Gun
[X] Shield
[X] Spiked Shield
[X] Metal Shield
[X] Flapper
[X] Egg Diver

The idea is we want to give egg man as potent a new asset as possible. This roll-out assures that we gain a new force in the air, on land, and at sea. But that we shore up the land based forces the hardest.

And boy howdy do we need power there! I'm glad we managed to shore up on this front.

I think there's something wrong with the link here.

Question do we really need the metal shield for the Egg Pawns right now?

Edit: Or the Diver when the boss is about to free Chaos?

The reason I picked the metal shield bot is because we need real durability on the Frontline to stop up Sonic. Likewise the Diver is a solid pick because it gives us variety for this new unit that will show up on all fronts.

I'll be honest I just want the Flapper to have some weapons in order to fight back along with our Egg Pawns.
