First off you build the E-2000 variants, having already constructed the base model to use as a reference point earlier.

The E2000R is a flat out improvement being basically the base model with a slightly stronger shield, better reaction time, and slightly more powerful laser cannon, not really much to say other than that and its increased cost.

Double Shield flat out numbers the laser cannon but has far more durable armor than even the E2000R and is significantly stronger physically as well. It won't stand up to the likes of Knuckles or Alpha for long but the fact that it can do so in the first place says a lot.

Double Gun on the other hand is all offense replacing the laser cannon and shield with two powerful gatling guns capable of unleashing a hail of lead. This variant is also faster than others and has a camera on its back letting it back away from enemies trying to close in without fear of smashing into something else.

….. Of course thats only a fraction of your focus.

The rest of it goes into improving Mecha Sonic.

An improvement to the scanner is a must, Mecha Sonic was already smarter than most other machines of its kind, and was even smarter than Metal Sonic had been when we was first created… most notably lacking Metals Sonics early bad habit of smashing into force fields face first after being beaten in a race. No what this second Mecha Sonic needs is a little more awareness to make better use of that intelligence… though you must confess to wondering about the original model.

…. It probably won't come up.

Now the second addition is the Light Drive. Currently it will allow Mecha Sonic to store up a 'lightspeed dash' letting him dash forward at speeds even Sonic and his speeds would have trouble keeping up with… well unless they too have a lightspeed dash charged up. Regardless this dash ability is also inexplicably able to follow ring trails, a minor bonus but an interesting one all the same.

What really matters is the chance for expansion, the energy used in the light speed dash is very flexible in nature and could be taken in many ways…. you 've already got some blueprints for a theoretical hard light projector for instance.

What do you do next?
[] One of Metal Series, Silver Sonic, Mecha Sonic, Mecha Knuckles, Metal Knuckles, or even the prototype any one of these machines could be a potent force if brought up to spec.
[] Past Badniks the good doctor has created a wide variety of machines in the past, perhaps bringing one of these older machines up to date could be of aid to your creator.

Any ideas for what to upgrade in the egg pawns? Maybe a sniper for long ranged combat

I kinda wanted to do the egg pawn anyway. For too long have we had nothing but unarmed flappers and basic blasters for our mass tactics fighters. maybe we'll get the same options as last time and some fun new ones?
 
Well Sonic heroes will be happening soon, so I'm hoping for either Forest, Haunted, City, Casino, Beach, or Industrial/Railway theme to fit the levels.

My suggestion for the sniper one could work in the jungle if they wear a ghillie suit, alternatively we could make a very agile one that could traverse the jungle quickly via climbing and swinging from vines like Tarzan

For the haunted, could we make a white colored version that could go invisible while standing still, so that it could ambush/jump scare foes.

For the beach, maybe pawns armed with water guns that shoot highly pressurized water, they would mostly stay in the water where they have infinite ammo or have a water tank attached to their backs so that they could fight out of the water.

For the casino, maybe one that throws explosive cards like Gambit from X-Men.

For the railroad, one that's permanently riding a mine cart and throws dynamite, the cart would be reinforced so that it both resist attacks and charges opponents to run them over.

Good idea for the sniper and Tarzan ones, maybe even have a few vehicles that fit in jungles.

Hmm, I wonder if we can make a zombie Eggpawn to fit the theme as well or a scarp pawn that still functions.

Good idea for the water guns, Sonic will definitely hate them, what about Eggpawns with harpoon guns or fishing nets that can capture the characters or get them stuck.

Good idea, speaking of dynamite we can probably make miner Eggpawns to help make tunnels and gather resources.

Yeah those, or even motorcycles like from the Jumaji movie.

Or a Frankenstein one, it looks broken, lays on the floor pretending to be destroyed and then springs up to deliver electric shocks to enemies.
Maybe the Frankenstein one can even have different parts from either other Badniks that are in use or ones that haven't been used for awhile, cause an Eggpawn with a Slicer arm can be useful.

Could potentially even go a step further on this with an Egg Pawn that can swap its own parts out for parts from other badniks. (Yes, I was inspired by that self-modifying "mutant lab animal" design that's been in my doc for ages on this one.)
