I mean, Fanservice isn't the goal for me, but I don't mind it unless it's particularly excessive. And most of what I found that wasn't fanservicey didn't feel... steampunk enough? That's my issue with most of your options actually, they feel "generically old-timey" rather than "steampunk". Or, in the case of C, too japanese aesthetically to feel like it fits the setting we've been presented with so far.

Honestly the only one I like there is A, and even it's uncomfortably close to the pit C fell in.

Okay, so I was joking a little bit about the fanservice. But I am mildly tired of seeing it, and while looking for more steampunk girl pics I found so many pinups and it made me a bit salty. Personally, I don't mind the images we already have, i just wanted to give a few more options that were more to my taste. I also noticed a lot more modernistic styles going on, so I countered with some older styles, because that's closer to a steampunk image in my head. It's not really a big deal i think?

I'll also note that it's not like we have much to determine our protagonists personal background (no name yet I believe?) besides the family being rather traditional and sexist. So I don't think some of the japanese aesthetic ones would be too much of a big deal. That said, if we're going for Caucasian euro-centric family, then obviously they wouldn't be accurate and can be discarded.

Mostly, I don't think we're really voting right now, and I expect @Alivaril can pick and choose whichever they desire to put to vote. And probably none of my options will make it. And that's fine. It's all good~

Most of the feel I get is pretty eurocentric (and the name "Blackburn" sure doesn't sound Japanese), but that may just be me I guess.

Yeah, if this is anything like Aliv's other quests, he'll cherry-pick some of the suggestions we put forward, toss in a couple options of his own, then have a preference vote.

The thing is, Blackburn is not "our" family. I've definitely read stories that integrate different cultures within an typically monolithic society. So sure, there's indications that it's primarly European, but that's not to say that there aren't people from different cultures or are new blood families or even fanatics chasing the foreign "exotic" trend.

Or at least that's my take on the matter. Of course I could just as easily be very very very wrong, but that's one of the best things about me! I'm very wrong about a lot of stuff.

If memory serves, he often likes to get artist permission before using pictures. Hence why not all suggestions get selected for the actual vote. Of course, there may be some personal choice involved as well, but the artist permission thing tends to narrow the options down pretty majorly all on it's own.

@Andelevion's C option would've also made it on here, but although that bit of art is perfectly SFW , the artist's page would either stress SV's rules or flagrantly violate them. It depends on which of the two artists I've narrowed it down to is, in fact, the original artist; collaborative art books make things difficult. Either way, not something I'm comfortable linking to.

The "not comfortable linking to" isn't just because I'd like to avoid violating the rules. Giving credit to an artist tends to funnel at least a small amount of traffic in their direction, basically providing free advertising. If Artist A is the original, I'd be OK with that still; it is a good image and having some dubious art doesn't cancel out their objectively good artwork. If artist B is, not even remotely. The nature of the artbook means I can't determine which of the two it is and I will thus err on the side of caution.

EDIT: I HAVE ERRED. Same artist, different pages. Thaaaat's a nope.

Looked at Diamond's artist out of curiosity because I like how they do colors and... Man, this just makes me sad Inversion is in an eternal coma.
