A Villain In A World Of Heroes

[X] It is a plant, it cannot follow us, and the edge of its clearing is most likely the full length of its reach. Just go past the edge of the clearing and ice bolt it to death from safety.

-[X] Try to get a seed or two from it if you can; having a breeding stock of these things would give you the ability to give great "gifts"

This path assuages our pride, our need to kill things, and our desire to not go back into the fray with Audrey II the plant monster.

Maybe we can pick up a sample of the plant for later breeding or something, though. I want things like this in our villain lair Heroic patsy's base; not enough for the mind control, just one the size of those tiny cacti people give as gifts, about two inches in diameter, in a tiny flower pot on our nightstand, carefully trimmed every night before bed. It'd be adorable, and everybody would stop to admire it. :V

(I'm serious about this, though more serious about the Heroic!Patsy path that we should take...)

We don't have pride. Won't be able to afford pride, given the slant of the universe in relation to us. Pride cometh before the fall. Maybe we can come back later when we are stronger, carefully and sneakily, keeping control of the situation, but right now it's just going horribly for us and we lost initiative.

We don't have pride, but this thing was dangerous because we stumbled into its reach. Once we get beyond that, killing it should be easy.

"Our Pride" as in the pride of certain posters in this thread. I mentioned said pride to appeal to them in order to gain their votes, psychology-style. I'm a master class manipulator, obviously :V

But yeah, the pride, as well as the desire to kill things, is Meta, unlike the desire to not get closer to the angry plant that I want a clipping of. I just mentioned them because we're basically the MC's subconscious, so any inane or OOC desires we have, we'll be trying to push Cedra towards, which means that, technically, on some unacknowledged level, it is Cedra's pride.

the plant my not have a ''heart'' per se but the bulb indicates that it has a core of sorts and I believe that for our purposes de diference should be largely academic
We were pretty much explicitly told that there wouldn't be a heart to eat this time. Also, ancient blood magic, given extra power by our consumption of the heart of a carnivorous creature that's all about consuming magical things for power? Yeah, I think that the blood and the meat might be kind of important in that one.

Actually? I think I want her to be the sort of person who will run to fight another day. It'll serve her better when comes time to face off against that hero.

QM flat out told us he wouldn't be giving us a power up with everything we fought right after we came across the plant.

We should definitely retreat back to the edge of the clearing, at the minimum. Whether we then flee and go find something else to fight, or try to kill with Nova Glaciem we can figure out when it gets to be time for that.

Okay, you can get a power up/loot from this if the dice gods heavily favor you, but I can confirm that it won't be mind control.

Freedom! from vines
You didn't even attempt to get out of the vines, instead, you immediately attempted to shoot a fireball at the large bulb, figuring that it was controlling the vines. The fireball collided with it, but seemed to do no damage. Panicking, you launched several more fireballs at the bulb, but the first two hit it off-center. The next one actually hit it dead on, but simply did nothing damaging, the fire seeming to be unwilling to burn the plant. Your next shot barely grazes it, while your fifth manages to hit but still does nothing. Your final shot doesn't come close, going completely wild.

This is likely because, as you fired it, the vines were attempting to lift you up and bring you to the bulb. Luckily for you, they completely loosened their grip while doing so and you fell a few inches to freedom. The plants don't seem to have noticed yet, as the vines seem to still be moving towards the bulb as if they were actually still carying something. Unfortunately for you, you are still in a large circle covered with vines exactly like the ones that grabbed you, but, if you are quick, you might be able to get out of the circle around the bulb before the vines notice and grab you again.

[X] Fight
-[X] Retreat as quickly as possible outside of the clearing.
--[X] If the vines pursue outside of the clearing, retreat further while trying to keep the bulb in sight, and draw our sword.
---[X] Once we have some room, use Nova Glaciem on the bulb and approaching vines until either the vines stop moving, or the spell proves to be ineffective.
