A Villain In A World Of Heroes

New here! Just a thought - we have a bit of control over wind, right? Think it's strong enough to create some draft between us and the vines holding us so we can have a bit more wiggle room? I'd hate to shoot ourselves in the foot with that ice there.

...Literally or figuratively? Because we'd get better from that, literally, unlike figuratively, which our regeneration might not help as much. So, in the interest of solving the figurative problem here, how would ice-blading everything be a detriment to our goals?

I would like to point you towards the "freezes anything in contact" bit. Shooting yourself in the foot is a real possibility and you wouldn't be able to regerate until you pull the ice out, and thaw your foot. (You could heal while frozen, but it would be super slow.)

Or we could cut it off after we're done icing this plant, and let it regenerate from scratch. Feet are complicated, but very tiny; It won't take long. Still, having to wait an hour to walk again after this cuts into our adventure time so:

[X] Spam Icebolts everywhere. Start with the vines holding you, then the obvious bulb of obviousness, and then aim at anything else that looks even vaguely important. Don't stop until the vines stop moving
-[X] Try not to shoot yourself in the foot, figuratively or literally

I just want to know how well we can aim here. Wouldn't it be better if we tried to grab the vine and freeze it directly?

[X] Try to grab the vine and freeze it with an Icebolt, then break free, with judicious use of more icebolts.
-[X] If the vine is not in hand's reach, carefully aim at the vine and hit it with Icebolts, taking care not to freeze yourself in the process.
-[X] Once free, attack the bulb with more ice, and freeze any vines that try to trap you.

You know, aside from the obvious pain and frostbite, shooting a 2ft spear through our feet and into the ground would keep us from being dragged to wherever this thing ingests nutrients. So there is at least 1 benefit (it is of course immediately countered by the fact we will be stuck there and unable to move away, but yeah. A benefit.)

This is a plant. Unless it is significantly larger than we have been lead to believe so far, we can easily place a fireball on the area where it digests nutrients, because I doubt that that area is immune to magefire, which, as a magical attack, has been noted to slow magical regeneration, so it obviously has non-obvious magical properties.

Getting dragged to the mouth or being nailed in place by friendly fire ice, either way we come a little closer to victory here. Poor plant never knew what hi- *Is immediately smote by the Dice gods, who have all turned up 1's*

[X] use ice five feet around us in a circle. Burn everything else. Use wind to push against the vines to buy time. If free, cut vines with sword.

[X] Nova Glacium? Nova Glacium. Nova Glacium on the vines. Then cut the vines. Then Nova Glacium the bulb. Ice kills plants just as effectively as fire without all the burning hurting everything. If something moves, use Nova Glacium until it doesn't.

Wow, I thought things got less scattered, not more. I will leave it open for a while longer, so try and pull people to your banner!

I honestly just have a problem with the word 'spam.' It implies we give zero shits where these things hit, and I'd rather we not have to roll to see if we shoot ourselves. I understand it's mostly a joke, but I'd rather the GM understand that we thought this one through.

How could you have a problem with 'spam'? Spam is delicious, especially with scrambled eggs with a bit of cheddar cheese in them.

Actually, the spam part has no impact on whether you shoot yourself in the foot or not. It is a different part of the vote that may cause that event to happen.

Like, the fact that we're trying to hit something currently wrapped quite tightly around our bodies with ice that freezes everything around it? I just can't see too many alternatives. We could try hitting the bulb first to see if it would let us go, but I dunno how much freedom we have to aim. In the first place, how does aiming even work? Do spells shoot out from the hands?

Usually, you can aim without them, but it is hard.

What planet do you came from? Spam is regurgitated awful.
It is a difference of opinion. We grew up eating it, because Mom grew up eating it, because her father got to like it while he served under Patton in Europe during WW2, and that got reinforced when Mom and Dad lived in Hawai while he was in the Marine Corps. Spam is very popular in Hawai, China, Japan, Korea, and the Philipines, among other places.
Incidently, the use of the term 'spam' as it is in this thread is the result of a Monty Python bit about the meat product.

I think Dark Ness said we can cast without aiming from our hands, but it really hurts accuracy.

And Ninja'd by the author.

[X] Fire-ball the heck out of the bulb.

Kill it with fire We have regen whats the point of it if we cant try some crazy stuff ocasionaly

it will help us survive longer then the Plants. and we do have a Lake nearby to jump into
If we are original source of fire, and we are on fire, then everything else around us is probably on fire, which means we aren't surviving.
The pond is 2-3 hours away at walking speed, and still has the whole mind-influencing thing going on. We do not know where any other sources of water are. Also, we can't breath underwater, and forest fires last a while.

we are shooting a fireball not burning ourselves
Just because there is a fire in the woods dosent mean it will spread like you think it will.a real forest fire like you think of requires years of buildup of debrise and a dry season in the forest. neither of which are the case here

You are shooting a fireball at a large plant, whose vines cover at least an 80 ft radius around the center of a clearing, and are wrapped tightly around us at this moment. As I said, if we are on fire, everything around us is on fire.

We don't actually know the level of debris or the current season and whether we are in a drought or not.
