A Villain In A World Of Heroes

isn't turning a rare wolf pelt into leather massively devaluating it? as it involves the removal of the fur?
Well, reason to turn into leather armour is to use it as armour, although, you can still sell it. Maybe you might get a better price? Or maybe you will just end up losing money? Who knows?

[X] randomlurker

I prefer turning the pelt into a cloak, the most valuable thing about pelt is the fur.
Also, we have a leather armor.

People will get suspicions if we disappear with no explanation, again.
To be fair, we just disappeared for a full day and night because of the cave-in, so if they are going to get suspicious it is probably already happening.

One word. Minion.
While I don't have anything against practicing the spell, I do have a problem with doing it in town, especially when our hideout isn't really secured yet.* Imps, even bound imp familiars, tend to be tricksters and assholes in general, and we don't know how much control we actually have over it or how long the imp will remain summoned here until we actually test it. That is why I've been suggesting we test that spell the next time we leave town, so that we can find those things out.

*It is reasonably well hidden, but it is no way secure since there are no locks and somebody heard the wall fall the other day.

As long as it doesn't lead back to us, I'm fine with letting it just rampage through the city; these are the people who just stared as we got our hands raw and bloody digging in the dirt without even offering us a shovel. They're kind of jerks.

Unless you meant that it'd do something detrimental to us? Because that would be a thing that I wouldn't want to happen...

I just know the imp we summon is going to scream "I AM AN EVIL IMP, HOW MAY I ASSIST IN YOUR EVIL SCHEMES, MISTRESS!!!" the moment it appears.

It's not a full skin, it is just a portion of the pelt. As is, It wouldn't be of much value to anyone other than a leatherworker or maybe a mage, due to it being from a fenric wolf. An adventurer or hunter may also buy it in order to have someone else turn it into armour for them.

Meanwhile a well-made set of armour is valuable to hunters and adventurers, and may be sold to the constabulary/town guard if they are looking for something like that.

Armour is typically sold for more than a pelt as well due to the time, cost, and dedicated work invested in it.

Or we could just use it as a fluffy blanket cloak? I'd imagine that it'd be pretty warm, and we'd probably get a bonus to some hidden roles involving wolfy things. And it'd be fluffy.

We could make a Fenric Wolf cloak/blanket as well, yes. It would still require leatherworking, and may need some tailoring work as well though.

The question in that case is what is worth more to us, armour or fancy cloaks/blankets.

The cloak-blanket can still serve as armor. I mean, it is Fenric Fur, while it's not made into any armor it's still very tough, and things would have a hard time penetrating.

It'd be good for preventing being stabbed in the back, especially if our book comes up with some sort of item enhancement spell to work on it. Two practitioners of magic in particular are noted for having Wolf Fur Cloaks; Berserkers, who sometimes actually became the thing who's skin they were wearing as they fell more and more into their rage, and Naagloshii, Skin walkers, practitioners of evil magic who wore the skins of wolves and bears and could turn into a different beast for every occasion, although they usually went with animals now recognized as beasts of Ill omen (Ravens, crows, wolves, bears, things like that).

Naagloshii are actually pretty darn tough, when you look them up. They're like magical shape shifting ninjas who killed people for the lolz.

While it certainly would make narrative sense for the cloak to provide some armour, I'm not sure it would make a mechanical difference unless we actually work it into armour.* If nothing else, I don't think the cloak would provide as much defense as it would as a dedicated suit of leather armour, due to the differences in how the leather would be worked.

All that said, if Dark Ness says it would do something for us, I'd be all for it. Until then I'm gonna keep advocating we get armour from it that actually fits.

*at least, that is how all of my GMs in live games have done it when we make cloaks from things that would normally be made into armour.

Hello there, if I may intrude:

Why not just make the armor and carefully shave the fur, we can ask someone to spin it into cloth later, maybe in that big town nearby, then make a cloak.

However, I'd rather summon the Angelus Imp and get some spells first. Level zero magic will hardly help forever.

So, we clean ourselves first thing, go buy the books, and get back to the hideout to summon the damn Imp already. We could definetly use a hand. And why not use the modified version?

So, we managed to not blow up the second tunnel, but the cleaning failed again. Looks like we managed to sneak back, at least I hope. In the tunnels we found some money it looks like.

Magical cleaning hates you
You go into the tunnels to explore some more. You decide that there is no point in cleaning up at the inn right away, when you will only get dirty again. You will clean up later. As you walk through the tunnels, there are several forks, side passages, and small empty clearings. It is going to take a long time to explore this tunnel system, if you can even finish at all.

Eventually, you find something. In a clearing, connecting several passageways, you find six gold coins and a spell on the ground. The spell is
levoterra and it is a spell to move a chunk of earth. It doesn't specify beyond that. You do wonder, who left this stuff here and why?

After that, you backtrack and leave the tunnels. You decide to magically clean up the mess in the underground room, maybe it will improve your magic skill to do it this way? You couldn't mess up twice, right? Wrong. You accidently pull the broken wall on top of you. It crushes your legs, and scream out in pain, before gritting your teeth. Someone probably heard the crash and the scream, but you can't do anything about that. You drag your body out from underneath the wall, and wait for your mangled legs to heal, lying down and remaining silent throughout the painful process.

When they are done, they are pink and they sting, but at least it isn't as bad as before. You get up, taking a few unsteady steps before regaining your balance and managing to walk normally. You then head to the inn. Luckily, there is a rowdy drunk there singing horrible songs and you slip into your room without anyone noticing. You fall into bed, but you know that the innkeeper is going to question you about where you went.

[] What do you tell the innkeeper?

Major Actions: Choose One

[] Buy some books andeducate yourself. You may not have gone to school, but that doesn't mean you can't learn.
-[] Write in topics. You can pick as many as you want, but if you choose too many, you will get less of a benefit. It will also cost more. Some topics are unavailable.

[] Buy some magic books and learn more spells, or maybe even something else. Then, take some time to practice what you learned.
-[] Write in topics. You can pick up to two, which will also cost more. Some topics are unavailable.

[] Take the time to make the fenric wolf pelt into leather armour. This will require you obtaining tools and a place to do so, so there may be a cost. (Can not be take if you choose to sell the pelt as is)

[] Take some more sword lessons, and improve your melee abilities. You aren't exactly a master, after all.

[] Head into the forest. (ONLY one encounter).

[] Explore the tunnels you found in that abandoned building, there might be something interesting there. (Explore more with the Major action)

[] Write In

Minor Actions: Choose Two

[] Buy a book and educate yourself. You may not have gone to school, but that doesn't mean you can't learn.
-[] Write in topic. You can pick only one.

[] Examine the book you got in the temple, hopefully you will learn something more from it.

[] Explore the tunnels you found in that abandoned building, there might be something interesting there.

[] Sell Items (Can choose as many as you want)
-[] Sell the Wolf Pelt as is
-[] Sell the Unicorn Horn
-[] Sell the Shoddy Chainmail
-[] Sell the Leather Vest
-[] Imp summoning spell instructions.
--[] How do you explain how you got it?
--[] Or, maybe you would rather sell to a unscrupulous merchant?

[] Train your base magical ability, which mainly involves lifting pebbles. But, you can lift more then one now, isn't that great?

[] Clean up the hideout, hopefully you won't knock anything over this time.
-[] The mundane way
-[] The magical way No more.

[] Maybe you could ask around the less prosperous part of the city about whoever ran away. Of course, you might also tip them of or draw suspicion on to yourself.

[] Practice your aim. When you were fighting, you would often miss what you were aiming at, maybe you should work to fix that?

[] Practice your speed. Yes, it reduces your accuracy, but the faster you fire your spells, the more you can cast. Since you can cast only the ice bolt and fireball spell, you will be practicing with both of them.

[] Practice the summoning spell in your hideout. Comes with a lessened risk of discovery.
-[] Angelic form
-[] Regular form
-[] Both?

[] Buy something. It might use up part of your finances, but sometimes you need a something.
-[] Supplies
