A Naruto Mook Quest [The Gamer/Naruto]

You most consider, however, that our stats will not only raise naturally, by training things like taijutsu and Bukijutsu, not to mention normal classes, but they are doing so at a rate that will put us in equal footing with the rest of the class in very short order, all on its on.

Meanwhile, we can get a ton of rank ups and overlaping bonuses along that moderate stat boost (That's all we need). I personality want to get good enough to be in the top 5 in taijutsu/bukijutsu, allowing us better opportunities from our teachers and to get a better team and sensei.

TL;DR: Training technique also gets us a good deal of the benefits of focusing on stat grinding, while the reverse isn't true.

And that's great but we still improve overall faster through training our stats.

I personally want to get all our stats to at least 20 before we graduate to genin.

Hey all, been passively enjoying this quest trough the hollidays.

Want bigger Chakra pool and more chakra efficesy to easier grind ALL other skills later so:

[x]Plan Chakra Exercises

Focusing on earth first.

I realy want to start the elemental training by asking Iruka or in a library to check up on theese kind of exercises, for hints/tips, like Naruto gets a tip from Asuma, when refining his wind element: "imagine splitting your chakra into two and grinding them together".
In a "game setting" this might give a boost to the spesific element.

And that's great but we still improve overall faster through training our stats.

What he's saying is that when training our skills we, by necessity, also train our stats. Therefore just training stats is highly inefficient, because it gets us half the benefits of the other option for the same costs.

Thank freaking god there's no party system here. For once the Gamer doesn't need to be someone else's training mule.

Mrrttao you ignoring how stats go into every skill. Skills run off of stats not the other way around. They get more effective by having higher stats. Stats give a flat boost to all our skills and given there are an unlimited number of skills. Infinite is much more then your +1000% for specific skills.
We can't wield an infinity of different weapons, the basic taijutsu skill gives bonuses to ALL attacks without specifying a weapon limitation
Furthermore, it is completely and utterly false to claim that our stats go into every skills. Not a single skill says "get +X% per Y stat".
Increasing our strength does NOT increase every single possible skill, it increases our base damage. This does indeed mean that it benefits axes, swords, clubs, punching, and some other weapons. But we don't care because such hyper spreading out will make us an extremely poor combatant. We are going to be using ninja weapons because they are what helps.

If you split up the skill levelups between the basic taijutsu skill (which benefits everything) and the specific weapon type skill (kunai) you still get a bigger increase to our overall damage with literally everything with skill training over stat training.687.6%/2 is more than 100%, 458.4%/2 is still more than 100%.

On top of that, because of the split they actually add multiplicatively which you are ignoring.
Lets take the 458.4%, divide it in half, that is +229.2% from each skill.
Undivided it would have given X * 5.584 This means together they give X * 3.292 * 3.292 = 10.837264X
Nearly double the result of just adding it to the one main skill

Basically, academy style is only one taijutsu style.

Odds are, not the best one, either.

So raising our base stats means we improve our abiltiies with all the styles, while levelling up academy style only helps academy style

1. The style is a passive bonus not an active skill. Under this argument you "shouldn't bother with the leaf sticking exercise since we cannot gain the bonus from both it and tree walking at the same time" (obviously false). learning the style gives us the bonus even if we learn more styles, we do not have to use only one style at a time
2. The style explicitly states "The basic taijutsu taught by the academy, easy to learn and adaptable to various advanced styles". That is not at all sounding like "conflicting" to me.
3. getting more than 10x the benefit still means we should learn the skill now, even if it will be "wasted" when we finally learn a "better" style at some arbitrary point in the future.
4. Even if we discard the style then, learning the weapon skill still gives us ridiculously more bonus to combat than training raw stats at the moment. Yes I am well aware that there are an infinite amount of weapon types out there. but who cares about those, we don't own any and it would be stupid to hamstring our combat ability for the potential to use all weapon types a little better. especially at this point in time.

You know what, I am just gonna ask.
@ryuan would learning a superior martial arts style to "Konoha Academy Taijutsu (Passive) (Level 12) [18/65]" cause us to lose the passive bonuses it gives to combat?

Yes it's passive. You don't need to spend any actions while using the style to get any benefits out of it.

Unless you're saying that literally every combat style someone can learn stacks together all at once, so you get all the damage increases from having mastered snake style while using all the crane stances and techniques.

Yes that is EXACTLY what I am saying. That is literally what a passive means.
This is why people bother learning more than one chakra training exercise.
so you get all the damage increases from having mastered snake style while using all the crane stances and techniques.
Or, and that just might blow your mind, you meld the techniques together, taking the stance of a crane and then striking with the lightening speed and maybe envenomed chi of a cobra.
Not to mention the fact that both of those work by controlling the chi in your body rather than being merely stances

also, there is a difference between style and stance.

Also, it doesn't matter. Even if you were right on this, and you aren't, the math still shows it is hilariously more effective.

Learning an advanced martial arts doesn't invalidate the previously learned styles.
That part of the argument is whether benefits which are gained from the other skill apply even when using another skill, assuming both skills are unarmed taijutsu, thus the analogy of getting the benefits of Crane Style Taijutsu Skill while using Snake Style Taijutsu Skill.

It doesn't fit to have your Stunning Crane Blow attack gained from Crane Style benefiting from the Snake Style's improved status effect chance.

On the other hand, the Basic Academy Style Taijutsu Skill might have effects that are beneficial to any unarmed attacks, simply because they are very basic bonuses.

Of course, you can also call it a system exploit and be done with it. :p

Styles usually give only passive bonus, while what you are talking about are called techniques. You can combo techniques when it's appropriate and you can have more than one style to benefit them all. It would be like benefitting from Iron Fist training to get better unarmed damage, Crane Stance for supernatural balance and Gazelle Foot Style for improved movement.
