A Naruto Mook Quest [The Gamer/Naruto]

Now what we know is "While there are ghosts here somewhere, we were unable to find any within half an hour of searching. If we are to find anything, we will need to dedicate much greater amounts of time to it, with the possibility of coming up empty handed."
Which is wrong by the way. Do read again what I said.

Ok
You cannot because unless you spend time actually looking for things in the Preta dimension to make sure it's a good place, it's not a fucking free action.
You cannot meaningfully check the place in half an hour.
The place is shit for grinding after half an hour of searching the place. There.

What I get from that is that within half an hour of searching, we were unable to find anything. If we are to find anything, we will need to dedicate much greater amounts of time to it. Maybe an entire day. Maybe a week.
And since we don't know what we might find with that extra looking, except some ghosts if the Dimension Description is to be believed. So whatever it is might not be worth the time put into it. Or it might. A gamble.

We have access to some very rapid modes of transportation, so I wouldn't think the problem is not being able to cover much ground in that half an hour. And since it is described as a plain, there doesn't seem like there many nooks and crannies for neat things to be hidden in that would consume our time to look in, any things of note would presumably be pretty visible unless it's small enough to hide in the dead grass, or is a trap-door or something leading into the ground.

Edit: for fun, I decided to see how fast we can travel. I assume speed scales linearly with DEX, and Usain Bolt has 50 DEX (max for a non-chakra enhanced human). He can do a 100 meter dash at a average speed of 23 MPH. With our Active DEX score, we can do 373.98 MPH. Now for Shunsin speeding us up. We can sustain it for 7.5 seconds a min after raising our WIS (not counting whatever bonus skill we get), during that time we move 4.4x faster, averaging out as 1.425x faster over the entire minute, or 532.9 MPH or Mach 0.69

So yeah, update tomorrow. Got caught up with some times, among them the RAEG I felt earlier. Hopefully I can ignore all that and finish the update later without issues.

Trondason stop. Just stop.
It is NOT a Free Action to search. It is a Full Slot. THAT is what Ryuan is saying.
Ignore the logistics of it in a realistic world. THIS IS NOT A REALISTIC WORLD.
This isn't a timed Open-World game, where half an hour is an actual thing. This is an update-based Quest where some of the shortcuts and simplified mechanics result in odd quirks
This is NOT a bad thing

The free action is stuff that doesn't hinder us. Things like replacing walking with Shunshin/Kawarimi
Or channeling Chakra Inner Flow
Or having Wind around us constantly cleansing the air
None of those takes time, we can do it while holding a conversation with our friends and so are valid Free Actions

Except, he straight up said, that that half of hour of searching is not enough time. That the time invested is the issue. Said it right here.

And if he is using that definition of Free Action, then it is MUCH different from the normal use of it. Heck, it's much different from what we have been using it as. We have used it for shopping, something that probably took 10-30 minutes to do. We used it to check out a book from the library, 5-10 minutes. As of up to this point, Free Actions have not been something we can sustain while doing anything else, it has been actions that took very little time to perform.

Your inability to pick up the not-so-subtle-cues that you are severely aggravating the GM to the point that they might have issues completing the update is actually impressive.

You should probably drop the issue before @ryuan asks to have you threadbanned.

Rookie Genin - Week 6 - Free Days 1
First things first, you look at your stat sheet and dumped all your new points into wisdom, getting it past the fifty mark. As you do so something inside of you snaps, and for a brief moment you had the memory of a black silhouette developing a visible mouth to grin back at you.

The skill "Element Affinity" was created by raising Wisdom above 50!

Element Affinity (Passive) (Level 1) [0/10]

When man first learned of chakra, they first looked within themselves. Next, they sought to emulate the world around them, shaping chakra into the elements that compose the world.
Increase trainable elemental affinity level cap by 10
20% discount to elemental jutsus
10% increase in elemental jutsu damage
10% decrease in elemental damage
50% increase in element related effects

The skill was actually rather interesting, even if you don't have enough elemental jutsus at this time to abuse it, something you had to rectify in the near future.

Next you tried to see if you could use your Fuuton: Nioi Keshi continuously, and while the answer to that was 'yes' it also was quite noticeable to those around you. A gentle breeze would swirl around you for brief moments in bursts, picking up dust and flipping sheets of paper. On the other hand not only you smelled like fresh air, but the surroundings around you had an harmonized smell on them that made it more neutral smelling than before. While not too flashy, it's also too noticeable to be using it openly while walking through the streets.

Next was the Raiton: Akari and after you finished the hand seals you had your index finger bright with light. Once you touched the bright point a tingling sensation hit your arm before you pulled back on reflex. You were about to try activating it once more, when you realized that you couldn't do the necessary hand seals like that. So that's a jutsu you can have only one instance active each time you use, differently from Bunshin and it's derivatives.

Well, it doesn't matter much either way. Doing the handseals you bring in your henge light armor which should hold for at least a real hit or two before collapsing back into smoke. After that you activated your Chakra Inner Flow, if only because by now you were getting used to the constant enhancement it provided to you. Still you might need to upgrade your weights at some point if you want to keep the skill active and have the weights actually do something.

Those little preparations done, you went about spending your three days off.

~~O~~

One of the first things you did was to look for medic nin classes. If you knew some healing techniques then perhaps that mule didn't had to die by overdose. Then again he would probably be executed or be incarcerated for a very long time since drug trade have very harsh punishment on the Land of Fire.

"Excuse me", you said on the reception of the hospital, the most likely place to have what you need. "I wanted to know the procedure to learn medical jutsu."

"Did you cleared that up with your jonin sensei or squad captain?" Asked the receptionist, pausing on her sorting of the files.

"No, I just wanted to know more about it."

She looked at you for a moment before giving you a booklet, "read this and if you're still interested go to room 306 tomorrow for an interview".

Nodding, you started reading the book. It took you two and half hours to finish it since it was a dry reading, but the gist of it is that combat medic nin first priority is to be out of combat completely, focusing on evasion at all costs in order to reach the fallen comrades to heal them. That was if you wanted to be a combat medic nin, otherwise you were stuck on the hospital either as a standard doctor that could use chakra, or as a researcher of sorts.

The list of required reading for the course was also staggering in how extensive it was.

If you want to learn the actual jutsus you probably need to either beg it off from someone that already know them or go through the course before learning them. You doubt they would just handle the jutsus to you that easily, in a sense learning A-rank jutsus are easier and more straightforward than this. Leaving that for later, you decided to look for Naruto and Hinata.

~~O~~

You find Naruto training on his usual spot after he became a genin, training ground three. Sasuke was standing on the nearby river, doing a light workout while water walking, and Naruto himself was upside down on the tree branch doing kicks and punches making sure to not break it.

"Hey Naruto", you said with a wave to your friend, "where's your third team mate? I can see Sasuke over there watching us."

"Oh, hey Tetsuo! Welcome back! How your mission went?" He said while continuing with his routine, which you took in stride. When you're training you don't like to be interrupted after all, and you extend that same courtesy to your friends.

"We survived, which was harder than it looked. It suddenly became an A-rank mission when a jonin level missing nin intercepted us, and we arrested a drug smuggler and his ring of mules, though one of them died from overdose when the packet containing that new drug broke."

"Woah woah WOAH! An A-rank? How did that happen?"

"Like I said, a jonin level missing nin appeared to intercept us. What we managed to figure out was that one of the caravan members were smuggling that new drug cocaine to another town using mules, people who hid drugs inside their own bodies, and a group of missing nins would come to attack the caravan, kidnap a few people to extract the drug packets later and kill the unfortunate mules. The missing nin that intercepted us was a jonin level ninja from Konoha and he brought a large group of genin level subordinates. Sensei managed to kill most of the genin ninjas and engaged the jonin, though we managed to interfere in the fight in our favor and we drove him off."

"Must have been tough. I wonder if I will get a C-rank mission as exciting as that."

"So long as nobody dies on your side", I said, "though apparently Genma sensei have bad luck with C-rank missions."

"I wish I had that kind of bad luck. I heard C-ranks are kind of boring."

"On the other hand, when a C-rank goes bad people usually dies since nobody is really prepared for it."

At this Naruto had nothing to say and you placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, in no time we will be doing exciting B-rank missions with our team. No need to hasten that up."

"Yeah, anything else happen in your mission?"

"We got our first kill before the missing nins arrived, killing a few no name bandits."

Once more Naruto stayed subdued, before nodding. He knew by now that the first kill was a big deal for most people. His eyes showed an unasked concern, which you just shrugged and replied with a grin. You will probably talk more when he have some free time later.

"Where are you third team mate by the way?"

"Sakura-chan is at home resting from light chakra exhaustion, she will be back tomorrow."

"Not much in terms of stamina?"

"More like developing it later than usual. Though Kakashi sensei told us that she had about average stamina for a rookie genin, it's just that we were all very much above average." He said while preening under his own praise, though it's not unwarranted since you all were above average overall.

You nodded before waving at him. "I will be off then, since it's my day off I will refrain from training", you heard a loud gasp from Naruto, "yeah, laugh it up. Anyway I will see Hinata later and since it's her turn to choose were to eat make sure not to force her to choose Ichiraku ramen. Again."

"But Hinata actually likes going there!" He protested, "she can even eat more ramen than me and even Chouji!"

Now THAT was a surprise. Who knew she had such a large stomach when she put her mind into it and could wolf down so many ramen bowls? Specially since she eats at a sedate pace and yet managed to out eat the two biggest ramen lovers you know.

"I like going to Ichiraku like any other person, but if you didn't make those big puppy eyes at her she would go there far less than we usually go. Either way you two can go on a date when I'm not around."

At this Naruto started sputtering and almost slipped from the tree branch, and you hid a grin at that reaction. "Then again I am feeling like eating ramen recently, so if she chooses there I won't complain. Anyway I'm off, so you later!"

==|> To Be Continued

OOC: Raiton: Akarai stun chance went from 1%, which would have leveled each several levels, to 0.1% and will increase each level. I also decided to post what I already had to not let you guys hanging since I did promise updates everyday or something.

Darn, that will slow down how fast we can train that considerably. That is one downside to Sustained skills, if they aren't stack-able they can only be trained so fast. Going to have to find something else to do with that chakra during that, which is a tad bit hard considering we actually don't have all that many things right now.

50% increase in element related effects
What does that mean, since it's seperate from Damage? Like, if we are summoning water, we get more water? A increase in exotic effects, like stunning from Lightning, and durability from Earth?

And if we do a more chakra intensive form of Gekika Henge, does it train faster?

Sad. I was rather hoping to make Vancian style jutsus where we pre-cast jutsus and activate them later.

Guess it's time to confer with instructors for better training techniques. I'd guess that Maito Gai is particularly knowledgeable. Or Tetsuo might also research weight seals.

Sounds like something seals other than handseals can do (looks like the wiki has 105 techniques listed). Or requiring handseals as an addition to controlling the inscribed portion.

Hmm... So if we become a combat medic we always have to try to stay out of battle?
Tsunade has also been credited with creating the official system of the medical ninja along with which she created laws that her students and other medical-nin alike, should abide by.[3] The four rules that govern medical-nin are:

  1. First clause (第一項, Daiikkō): "No medic ninja shall ever stop medical treatment until the lives of their party members have come to an end." (「医療忍者は決して隊員の命尽きるまで治療を諦めてはならない」, "Iryō ninja wa kesshite taiin no inochi tsukeru made chiryō o akiramete wa naranai.")
  2. Second clause (第二項, Dainikō): "No medic ninja shall ever stand on the front lines." (「医療忍者は決して最前線に立ってはならない」, "Iryō ninja wa kesshite saizensen ni tatte wa naranai.")
  3. Third clause (第三項, Daisankō): "No medic ninja shall ever die until they are the last of their platoon." (「医療忍者は決して小隊の中で最後まで死んではならない」, "Iryō ninja wa kesshite shōtai no naka de saigo made shinde wa naranai.")
  4. Fourth clause (第四項, Daiyonkō): "Only those medic ninja who have mastered the Strength of a Hundred Technique of the ninja art Creation Rebirth are permitted to discard the above-mentioned laws." (「忍法創造再生の百豪の術を極めし医療忍者のみ 上記の掟を破棄できる」, "Ninpō Sōzō Saisei no Byakugō no Jutsu o kiwameshi iryō ninja nomi, jōki no okite o haki dekiru.")
Since Tsunade and Sakura Haruno are currently the only ones who are able to use the Ninja Art Creation Rebirth — Strength of a Hundred Technique, this effectively means that they are the only medical-nin allowed to break the above rules.
So unless we learn the Strength of a Hundred techniques we can't fight in the front lines? That's annoying because we really don't have to worry about getting injured or dying easily anyway and we just want the mystical palm technique because we are capable of abusing it easily with Gamers Body. We should probably talk to Genma and the Hokage to allow us to ignore the special clauses by explaining how our bloodline/Gamer' s Body works more.

EDIT: but this is only if we decide to become a medic-nin? If we don't want to does that mean we can still try to learn medical jutsu?

How do our Weights work? We channel chakra into them, to give them more mass, right?
