While Ayane protested initially, she gave in to go after her sensei rather quickly and soon you three were behind one tree each to watch the fight.
It was a sight to the eyes, to say the least.
Raidou was a taijutsu specialist while Genma was apparently a ranged specialist favoring both shurikens and fast moving jutsus of nearly all elements, yet he managed to weave and dodge around the enemy attacks with practiced ease, as if he was used to fight against a hand-to-hand combatant. While Genma had a stony expression on his face as he fought against Raidou it was Raidou that started to look furious as seconds tickled by.
And each second felt like an eternity as they both fought at speeds that you could only barely keep up, though that did bring up the fact that you actually could interfere for a split second and catch both of them unaware if you combine both your Chakra Inner Flow and Shunshin at the same time. On the other hand while they don't keep a blinding speed all the time, all too often they would suddenly speed up and become blurs even for you.
One, two, three, several times they would disappear from sight only for them to break their contact somewhat injured. While Raidou was faster in dealing damage, when Genma managed to hit a jutsu on him it always gave more noticeable damage than the enemy did, so it was mostly a stalemate on that front.
The frown on Raidou was quickly replaced witha grin however. "So Genma-chan managed to get stronger, huh? I heard that loser Gai managed to become a jonin himself. He only had taijutsu going on for him so that's why you're not flailing your arms ineffectually anymore."
Genma just stayed silent as he caught his breath. While it looked like it was on a stalemate, on a closer inspection he was getting tired faster than the opponent, and unless he got a good shot in he would be eventually defeated in this battle of attrition. He had landed a couple of good hits, but you think at least two more like that are needed in order to properly tip the scales in his favor.
"Oh, don't look like that Genma-chan, what would your cute little genin would think after witnessing their 'invincible' jonin sensei being pushed into a corner?"
His eyes widened for an instant before Raidou attacked Genma, taking advantage of his distraction hoping to kill him.
You would have none of that shit.
With your Chakra Inner Flow still active you used your Shunshin and practically flew to intercept the enemy jonin level missing nin, taking him by surprise with nasty gash on his chest before you quickly activate your wolf pack tactics with Genma as a target. The bonus is small, but every bit helps as Genma capitalized on that action to attack. Raidou still were fast enough to dodge in you calculations, if it weren't for tha fact that Chippu had acted.
"Gamma Blade!"
A very quick stream of lightning shaped as your team mate crossed the battlefield and grabbed him, making him stop for a second. Normally that would be it, but Genma used the distraction to send several senbom at him, paralyzing one of his legs in the process. Just as he was about to retort a couple of sakura petals started to fall around you all and started to burn shortly after. Both you and Genma fled the place immediately but Raidou was slowed down from both Chippu jutsu and Genma attack to fully dodge the attack.
"Ninpou: Midare Sakura no Jutsu!"
The small cleaning was filled with a very big explosion and you both avoided the blast because you knew that many explosive tags would make a big mess. Still, that was a very big boom.
Raidou was nowhere to be seen, but a couple of blood drops could be seen on the ground away from the explosion. Genma looked around, even closing one of his eyes in concentration before sighing in relief.
"He's gone", he said before looking at you three, "now come here, there's something I have to say to you."
You all nodded and came next to him, but he only used his jonin speed to wack you three on the head. HARD.
"What the hell did you think were doing!" He yelled at you three. "A genin has no place in a jonin battle!"
You look at him to retort, but he looks he gives you three is less of pure anger, and more something you can't quite place. He's also favoring one of his side where he took a nasty hit from Raidou.
