(Finally actually gets back to working on this post)
Right, so. Last game, me and Rosen were kinda playing around each other and acknowledging night actions and potential plans. I've seen him interacting with me specifically on subtle Town/Town interactions, and I've seen him try to pull responses and reads in order to solidify his own. I'm not seeing that here.
Okay I've got some questions, if I may. I don't want to meme around for very long and my two posts is more than enough for me, so let's jump into it.
1) Is there a player in this game you think you can read better than anyone else? If you'd like to share, why do you think so?
2) The opposite question: is there a player you find harder to read than anybody else? Why so?
3) If neither are applicable, give me a wild guess at a full scum team as compensation
Ten posts in and he's undercutting the meme phase. This is fine, but I'm going to note the amount of times that he follows up on this.
1. Lol, no. I mean I wish, but no.
2. Pawn isn't playing, so again no.
3. Let's see... Well, this feels like a game with neutrals tbth. The invading thing gives a lot of leeway for non-town non-invaders. With that said, I don't think there's another team of people we need to lynch. So... Probably 6 invaders? As to who they are, that's more obvious.
Me, you, Pawn, LDJ, Comi, and Oshha
Thoughts on Evenstar in relation to the second question? I know those two talk each other up on a pretty regular basis so I'm wondering what other people think about that dynamic.
Once on Ban, questioning the dynamic between Ban and The Assistant GM. So that's not particularly useful, the only thing relevant to the game is asking if Ban feels confident in reading one specific player for
some reason.
1) Possibly 1K? But she's never been scum before so I can't actually say for sure.
2) QT. I don't know why, this is mostly based on my wrong reads in previous games.
3) Ban, -Rosen, Nictis, 1K, InterstellarHobo. Turtleducks SK. I don't know what the point of this was because it's random guesses and tbh I am not sure this follows the traditional setup (the intro post lore seems more like 2 competing factions to me?).
Random guesses always have purpose, because it's more fitting to call them "random" guesses.
No comment on any of the answers, but saying that random guesses aren't actually random. When you assume that someone has a purpose behind their action, doesn't that say you have one of your own? This doesn't count because it's not following up.
For me, I've seen Rosen as Town. This set up a definite expectation that they would be doing
something with this, like if they were probing people for a certain response that they would jump on. That's what I would expect from Town Rosen from this, it's what they've done every other time I've seen them as Town. They do something weird and somewhat scummy in order to provoke certain reactions from Town, usually to confirm their actual reads. Like, say, openly hard claiming Doctor Day 1 and then retracting it in a way that's near guaranteed to aggravate Town.
I was more trying to get an answer in regards to "Evenstar is a very good player" part of that dynamic. She's been given enough hype from a player I already know to be very good, so I want to try and figure out what people here think of her because of that.
This one just stood out as odd to me, because Rosen was asking Ban about her and to my recollection I think that both Rosen and Ban came in to the same game initially? Doesn't matter
much, but interesting.
I also counter claim Doctor.
I fully retract my claim.
Just kidding I'm Doctor.
Just kidding again I retract.
As Rosen references.
Town has no reason not to respond, so it looks worse for Mafia to not do so. Effectively forcing them to answer said questions can form early game patterns that we can base team reads on.
Here's Rosen saying that this is going to help him figure out scum, because it will help form patterns to look at.
1: Probably QT, followed by Rosen and Evenstar. No, I am not saying why. \
2: In the game? Evenstar, when she's trying whatever she was trying last game.
3: Since I skipped the second half of each question... Rosen, 1K, and Absum.
Hopefully I can move myself off of your #1 list after this game because I'm actually gonna take this game seriously ^^
For legal reasons that's a joke
I'm honestly just going to dismiss this one, because as far as scumslips go this is laughable. Again though, not following up when responding to an answer to the question.
@Nictis didnt really fully think that post through when I made it. I know it doesn't help for me to say now but I'm not so stupid to just scum slip like that and then immediately bring attention to it by calling it out. You'll just have to take my word for it.
@ Whoever wanted my guesses for scum team: my guesses right now are Dovah/Even/Nictis/Naninami out of completely random number generating.
Dismissing first part because I don't particularly care to play the "I'm better than making a mistake like that, believe it!" game. The second half here was, initially, rather interesting. Dovah's inclusion seemed odd, but it works as a stand in to avoid getting discredited when you're guessing at the scumteam. It's also something that I assumed Rosen was specifically using in order to try and pull reactions, because 'random' isn't random.
Do you think people will take random guesses so seriously that they'll be willing to lynch people because of them?
Something like that is not the purpose of asking a question, in fact that's the farthest things from it. I'm really only using such a question to try to get the ball rolling on actual discussion, and while it sucks that I end up being the butt of what's come up this far, I can say that it's purpose has been fulfilled flawlessly.
See above quote on why Rosen is saying we're doing the RQS (Random Question Stage).
If I'm being completely honest, actually using RNG is NAI in general. Town can use it when they really don't feel like picking names themselves, and scum can use it to deliberately obfuscate the random reads on purpose, making them completely useless on a flip. It has a bit more utility as scum due to this, but I don't see why Town wouldn't just do that to save time (considering other people have answered in even wilder ways than I have).
Here, things start to go bad. Justifying and explaining rather than acting, plus there's a certain break in the logic of 'This will help us form patterns to lynch scum later' and 'just using RNG is NAI and I expect people to do so.' On its own it's not good, but coming from Rosen it is pretty bad comparing to his previous play.
'Random guesses aren't random' / 'Scum and Town will use actual random to guess'
Okay I didn't actually have to type up as much as I thought I did for this, but my biggest ping right now would be mesonoxian, mainly because right now his current arguments against my play literally hold no water (as I've already mentioned), and I'd like to see something actually concrete if there's going to be anything beyond what's already been discussed.
Beyond that I'd say only Nanimani has pinged me at all for any reason (Dovah is not with them), but this one is much less pertinent to me.
I don't like this first half. I'm having trouble explaining why, but... Discrediting the opposition is the best way I can think to describe it right now. Meso has, at this point, called Rosen out for a serious contradiction in his posts (Which Rosen answers with another contradiction), soft-claiming Scum (Which so far has the answer of "I made a mistake and accept whatever pie I get for it"), and being unnecessarily cagey on his preferred roles (Which has been said to be NAI, but Meso has also said it was the less concerning bit).
The way Rosen says this raises my hackles as well.
Note that I said "some semblance of a teamread." I never outright said "this is the teamread and these people should be lynched." In the event of a scum flip, if people don't know whose posts to look at based on interactions, then there is some guideline for them to try and look elsewhere.
No, I'm not so stupid to set up mislynches because scum said some peoples' names at the beginning of the game. Sorry to disappoint you there
This actually doesn't help my view on it. Rosen, I'm fairly sure, understands that setting up a mislynch isn't a one-and-done kinda deal. The idea behind it is claimed to be that the Scum are likely to include other Scum on their lists because.... Credit if their allies die? Then, suddenly, it's just RNG. Anyone could do RNG for it. Town can RNG it if they don't feel like playing the game, Scum can RNG it specifically because it's better for them, and somehow the lists are still supposed to be relevant? "Scum will want to include accurate reads" / "Scum will want to use actual RNG to obfuscate things"
"I'm not so stupid to" (Thing that they have done). I've mentioned that I don't particularly care for this kind of defense?
When Rosen had initially decided to try and set up a RQS instead of an RVS, I had three different routes set in my mind. The first being that they know something and are looking for a specific type of response, the second being that they are scum and weren't confident in their allies' survival of the Day 1 Lynch if they gather attention (You can see it in my response to the question, sorry), and the third is that they were trying something new for the hell of it. So I've been paying attention in the hopes that Rosen was trying something clever in order to catch out Scum or trying to set up an extremely early Town Core that I would have to warn against.
Instead, I've gotten backpedaling, a lack of followup, dismissing points against him, hypocrisy and multiple contradictions. Not to mention the kind of condescending dismissive attitude that I've gotten used to from scum.
"I'm not so stupid to just scum slip like that and then immediately bring attention to it by calling it out. You'll just have to take my word for it."
"right now his current arguments against my play literally hold no water (as I've already mentioned), and I'd like to see something actually concrete if there's going to be anything beyond what's already been discussed."
"No, I'm not so stupid to set up mislynches because scum said some peoples' names at the beginning of the game. Sorry to disappoint you there"
