A Game of Crowns (Mafia)

Well, as you yourself said before:

So it seemed that you were trying to encourage people to mine them for reads up until the point that it was pointed out that that would benefit scum more than town. And now you're saying they are just random guesses no one will take seriously. It is just sort of suspicious.
Poor wording in the previous quote you pulled I guess. I mean that more in a sense that scum will innately try to sprinkle in actually accurate scum reads in their reads, regardless of if they're random or not. This, in the event of a scum flip, we can have some semblance of a team read already started up.

Granted, mentioning this outright defeats the purpose of it mostly, and enough other people have memes around with it that it really doesn't work the way it's intended in this specific game. Long story short, the point is simply that we do not use these guesses for current reads, rather they serve as guidelines for future ones.

I did say it was mostly NAI and the fact it can't really be used for analysing was what I didn't like about it? When I was talking about people analysing the answers I was talking in general.
If I'm being completely honest, actually using RNG is NAI in general. Town can use it when they really don't feel like picking names themselves, and scum can use it to deliberately obfuscate the random reads on purpose, making them completely useless on a flip. It has a bit more utility as scum due to this, but I don't see why Town wouldn't just do that to save time (considering other people have answered in even wilder ways than I have).

We're in agreement on this, as far as I can tell.

Okay I didn't actually have to type up as much as I thought I did for this, but my biggest ping right now would be mesonoxian, mainly because right now his current arguments against my play literally hold no water (as I've already mentioned), and I'd like to see something actually concrete if there's going to be anything beyond what's already been discussed.

Beyond that I'd say only Nanimani has pinged me at all for any reason (Dovah is not with them), but this one is much less pertinent to me.

Also it's really fucking hard to make a post sussing people when the people you want to talk about are also talking about you ._.

@Evenstar, is it possible for you to invite people to your neighborhood?

Tangentially, could some of the more experienced players give a rundown of what roles we're likely to see?
I feel like I've got a pretty good idea on some of what's going to be in the game, but don't want to inform the scum if I'm wrong on how many there are. I will say that I'm curious on what roles @BanTheFairyKing might expect to be in this one though.
Random guesses always have purpose, because it's more fitting to call them "random" guesses.
@ Whoever wanted my guesses for scum team: my guesses right now are Dovah/Even/Nictis/Naninami out of completely random number generating.
While largely NAI this is also a tiny bit scummy. It's hair-splitting but as Town using rng serves no real point but makes little difference, mentioning that you did so serves no purpose at all. As scum, whether you did or not, saying you did makes an easy defence against people using the list later on (when that is supposed to be the point by your own words). Now I actually don't think you'd do that as scum because it's rather obvious but eh I'd still preferred if you hadn't mentioned this.

Mmm. I don't like this. I don't like this at all.

I'm trying to think of the best way to explain it, and I'm having some trouble. So I'm going to list things.
1: Ban's non-answer of himself, Rosen, and four people not playing the game is not a 'wild answer,' it's not an answer. It's just jokingly ignoring it.
2: Why is Rosen still saying it was RNG? What kind of Random Number Generator pulls up a number not even included in the game (dovah)?
3: This helps us find scum because Scum would want to include other Scum for credit, except Scum are likely to just roll dice for it. And Town can use random dice as well.
4: "These are all 'random' guesses" / "I used RNG to choose them"

Don't like this at all. I will switch Absum off of my list for Ban though.

M I S L Y N C H A L E R T !

Holy crap, really? You're setting up to suspect anyone who calls out scum early on, or to follow a list of people who scum had picked out Day 1 when they get lynched. This is a serious alarm. (Sorry about rearranging things, but this deserved to be a the end)

Presumably one that just uses a website (like random.org) and then selects the corresponding poster rather than player. Dovah does have posts in thread, just not a spot in the game.
But... The playerlist is numbered.
Player List:
  1. @mesonoxian
  2. @-Rosen
  3. @Look to the Left
  4. @Cyricubed
  5. @PyrrosWarrior
  6. @Est
  7. @QTesseract
  8. @InterstellarHobo
  9. @1KBestK
  10. @Nanimani
  11. @TurtleDucks
  12. @Nictis
  13. @Happerry
  14. @DimensionalGuy
  15. @BanTheFairyKing
  16. @Absum
  17. @Evenstar
And how does random.org do that? The only way I can see it doing it is with the string generator, and then it still would have been easier to look at the player list than typing out each name off of the who replied tab.

Note that I said "some semblance of a teamread." I never outright said "this is the teamread and these people should be lynched." In the event of a scum flip, if people don't know whose posts to look at based on interactions, then there is some guideline for them to try and look elsewhere.

No, I'm not so stupid to set up mislynches because scum said some peoples' names at the beginning of the game. Sorry to disappoint you there

Yeah I never actually pulled from the player list in OP2; not my finest hour cus i kinda wasted a fuckload of my time pulling from who replied lol

That just seems like a really drawn out and painful alternative to rolling a d20.

Still really not a fan of the hypocrisy.

Okay after reading through this all I'm getting...confusion more than anything. Rosen is pinging off as weird to me especially with what nictis had already pointed out. Beyond that...I...am really not sure...like, I want to look more into rosen's angle with all this but I'm...not getting much to go off at first glance. From anyone. Activity(Other than myself with 2 posts...) seems mostly across the board alright. There are exceptions however

@DimensionalGuy I think some more out of you would be benificial.

Everyone else I would border on Hypocrisy if I was to say anything so my hands are tied there I believe. Urg...Gonna look into this. Maybe I'm just not fully paying attention and missing something key to today's discussion. Lowkey wasn't expecting day to start yesterday since we had only received roles half a day before so fair warning now that I'm going to be very sporadic of being here the next few days.

Yeah, rosen is reading weird to me as well, but frankly I don't know how to read them in general. Their play is very chaotic and often seems intentionally wine-ey. In general this argument seems mostly just weird.

Not sure if weird means anything though. They did full chaosposting last game and were town.

"Everyone guess what the scum team is."
"Random guesses are 'random.'"
"RNG is NAI+Scum will want to RNG it+We can use this to find scum"
"Not answering is suspicious for scum"
"My guesses were just RNG"

Mainly the whole "Random has purpose behind it" and "I was just being random" thing. It is a really bad look.

And in case people have forgotten, I am currently voting Rosen.

Heya @Happerry , never spoke to you before. You take part in any quicktopics lately?
Nope.
@Happerry did you read my bad reasons and do you think you can answer -Rosen's questions now?
I did give a reply in so much as 'I have really no clue yet' is one... Trying to take notes again, so hopefully I'll do better in this game, assuming that people don't kill me for formatting issues this time.

They did full chaosposting last game and were town.

I wouldn't consider what rosen's doing this game to be chaosposting. Chaosposting is more like creating unnecessary confusion for the sake of confusion or an obscure goal. A good example of this would be(I believe...)

Person A: I claim Cop and Person B is Guilty!
*Discussion focuses on this for a while*
Person C: Hey I just got on, I counter-claim Person A, I'm the cop!
Person A: I was never cop, I just wanted discussion.

In this case Person A is basically Chaosposting, especially in circumstance where person A is actually Town. If person A was scum then this is either backpedaling on a poorly thought fake-claim, or trying to lure out the real cop or cause a mislynch. Either way causes mass confusion, usually ends negatively for town, and just doesn't go well for the chaosposter in most cases.
