The one game I've been in with Eva she got lynched day 1 as a townie, but she also made it to the Mafia World Championships and so I'm pretty sure what I saw was a bit of an off-game and I'm not sure it's super reliable. Besides, it's not necessarily Pawn's skill that throws me off but his ability to act like the same scummy town leader whatever his role.
Yeah, I was trying new things in advance of the tourney, trying to improve my play; naturally that resulted in some issues.
So, we have 17 players. How many bad guys does that suggest we are likely to have?
Traditionally, 1/4 of the players. So in a game of 17, 4 baddies.
This was a bad idea when I did it and it's a bad idea now!
Would it be bad civ to suggest people share their roles?
It would force scum to come up with a plausible lie, which might be telling, but the rules say "if you must refer to your role, paraphrase." which suggests the practice is frowned upon.
Well-designed mafia games are built such that D1 massclaim - everyone honestly claiming their real role, except scum - is neutral or even actively harmful to town.
I have faith in the abilities of our GM and the SV mafia chat, so I would not bet on massclaim working.
"I know you know that I know that you know that I know that I know"
Yeah, especially the argument "I didn't do that because that's what you would be expecting me to do." Also abbreviated as WIFOM for "Wine in front of me." It's the circular reasoning process that comes from trying to outthink an opponent who's trying to outthink you.
Note that in this scene, the entire question of which cup was poisoned was in fact a distraction: both of them were poisoned.
This is an important lesson regarding wine: if you start thinking about the wine too much, you're probably being distracted from something more important.
