A Game of Crowns (Mafia)

OFC now that I've explained all that I was gonna actually try and take notes this game so that could completely throw my play off and get me lynched soooo...

Taking notes? How deviant~ I honestly don't get what people take notes *on*. Like, the one time I tried I ended up thinking a dead town was scum and just confused myself.

So, we have 17 players. How many bad guys does that suggest we are likely to have?

Would it be bad civ to suggest people share their roles?
It would force scum to come up with a plausible lie, which might be telling, but the rules say "if you must refer to your role, paraphrase." which suggests the practice is frowned upon.

Typically this isn't something you do in early game. Mechanically it's better to try and hide your role and catch scum on Day this lay some, as that will make things harder for the Mafia at Night in regards to planning around actions.

The problem with that is typically it's also to the advantage of town power roles to stay hidden so the scum can't target them.

I'll be back in a couple hours to check if other people have posted. I work tonight to afterward I'll probably be gone for another 6-8 hours, with the exception of my break time.

That particular clause exists due to past issues with people attempting to use exact wording from PMs to try and scumhunt or prove they were town. It grew to the point of being problematic, so most games since have had that clause included as a basic preventative.

Random guesses always have purpose, because it's more fitting to call them "random" guesses.
As in, I fully believe there is still a full team in this setup
Eeeh, this requires scum to actually respond, no? I suppose even my guesses aren't entirely random, but this early on I have no real information either.

Traditional Mafia vs. Town, maybe with a third party mixed in.

I don't think this game is large enough to try a factional approach for the setup.
I'll keep it in mind as you're more experienced but atm I don't agree. It should become clear after the first Night anyway, I imagine.

Full team makes sense. Two kills a night with fifteen people is pretty nuts, right? There's probably 3-4 scum, maybe a survivor, but I wouldn't expect a second killing faction, at least.

The opening flavor mentions that the gates were opened because of 'treachery most foul.' Could imply a cult of sorts.

I'll take you word for it, then. Not really shedding a tear over not having to play a cult game TBH.

Good day everyone. I have awoken, and my Internet has finally come back on from that brief lull it had!
1) Is there a player in this game you think you can read better than anyone else? If you'd like to share, why do you think so?
2) The opposite question: is there a player you find harder to read than anybody else? Why so?
1) Not really. Most of my reads end up wrong because I just plainly don't have an understanding of what people are until later in the game when I have more info about game composition. I also dislike reading based on traditional "cues" as a whole.
2) Within this game, probably Evenstar. I've only had one game with them and they played rather aggressively - something I've only seen of Nictis and scum in the past - despite being Town. Therefore, I really don't know what to expect of them.

*wakes up, sees PM*

'Cool, guess I'll ask some quick questions and then confirm over in the thread before getting back to reading-'

*Day has started and there's three pages of posts*
...
'Oh.'

For some reason, I thought the Day Start was scheduled for PM rather than AM. Anyways, will be heading to work soonish.
