[X] Covered Retreat
-[X] X and Argalia Will Stall

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that Sayaka or Mami are durable or have enough firepower to survive an extended fight with the Adult Who Tells Lies. X can try to shield them of course, but the Adult possesses deadly ranged and area-of-effect abilities that allow her to apply constant pressure to X and the Magical Girls simultaneously. She can launch attacks all day long, but we only need to slip up once for one of the girls to end up like Homura.

Kyoko has a higher degree of durability due to being Distorted, and we've seen that she has enough firepower to counter some of the Adult's attacks.

I think that this went surprisingly well, actually. There are bound to be significant civilian casualties from the initial attack on the neighborhood, and Mami's house being destroyed is bound to be traumatic, but everyone rallied against the surprise attack rapidly and effectively. Notably, Argalia not only showed up to reinforce us, but also managed to intercept and apparently neutralize the Adult's reinforcements enroute.

I'm not sure if retreating is the best option, to be honest, now that we're no longer in an area where collateral damage is a large concern. The Adult took us by surprise initially, but now she appears to be exposed without her fortifications or her allies present to help her.

...It's unclear how exactly we'll fix Homura, but out of all the Magical Girls for this to happen to, Homura is probably the one who'd take being skewered and partially dismembered the best. That's not a good trait to have, exactly, but it's useful in this situation.

I don't think we should include Kyoko in the stall team at all though.

Like, Why Kyoko? Shouldn't she be leaving alongside the rest of the kids and leaving Argalia and X to stall?

Kyoko is one of the stronger allies we have, so having her help support the retreat would be better than having her stuck stalling the Adult no?

I hadn't considered that there might be other elements that could endanger the retreat other than the Adult. Do you think it's likely that more enemy reinforcements will show up? It makes sense that the Adult would keep some forces in reserve, or possibly waiting to ambush the girls as they retreat.

Also, where exactly are the girls retreating to? I was under the impression that they were going to retreat by teleporting to the library.

That's the thing.

The Adult itself is the main threat. While I'm confident in the kids, I'm not confident in letting any of them stay to stall after seeing how the Adult dismantled Homura.

Why should we tell Kyoko to stay behind and fight when the whole point is to evacuate the kids quickly so Argalia and X can bail too?

We don't exactly know all the spells she has at her disposal outside of what she has shown so far, therefore it's better to get the kids out of here, and maybe let X just nuke the Adult while she's stuck in Leonia's world with us.

I guess that makes sense. I was thinking along the lines that not keeping a large enough force for the fighting retreat could be dangerous, but Kyoko is still considerably less powerful and durable than X and Argalia, so a smaller team might be more effective anyways. Changing my vote.

Kyoko is more durable than either of them, as far as being able to tank damage she's probably on par with some of the more durable Ensemble members. Homura isn't, but she normally doesn't need to be able to take hits. They're both currently around WAW-rank, which is above what X can reach as far as sheer strength goes. The main thing holding Kyoko back so far from being as effective as she could be is the amount of collateral damage she would do.

It's better if Kyoko is put on the job of protecting the kids since she's also a Distortion too.

She's (At most) comparable to Mami in skill but with way stronger power.

If say the Adult is hiding a magical girl under her sleeves to throw at the retreating kid, Kyoko would be the back up plan for the rest to escape to the Library.

Homura will probably be fine once her key is winded up.

Other than that, Angela got a whole bunch of floors with healing abilities.

And with Madoka...we'll have to ask Chesed for this one.

The man always wanted a light show after all. Why not give him a front row seat to it

Probably the only two of the group who could stand a chance against the Adult without too much risk.

Because of life I was unable to continue my following of this quest. Now, divorced from some of my previous responsibilities I have enough time for expansion of my literary intake. So I will read this work from the beginning. Here's holding an embers of hope for continuation of my rediscovered freedom.

And thus a decision is reached, and consequences shall be had.

the choice feels like the obvious first instinct, and the part of me that thinks "This could be a trap" is being quieted down by the arguments towards the more complicated calculus of this decision and the idea that anything could be a trap and even then, this is probably the best option (besides somehow beating the adult here and now, but I don't know what that would really entail given what was required for Nothing There is not available right now), and that thought-hole of everything being a trap is unproductive.

I understand the reasons for this decision, I just hope I haven't missed a factor, like figuring out when they could have gotten in contact with Madoka, with the only thing that comes to mind being whatever they used for portals, or simply a power the Adult has or could feasibly have based on lore I don't know because I haven't played Ruina yet

Honestly, I'm not sure why the Adult is attacking now, of all times. I suppose she doesn't want X to rampage around the Emerald City in her true form and wreck the valuable magitech, and that's enough to forsake the defender's advantage. But then why is she doing this so late? And I think what Argalia killed was just another fake Ensemble member, so she didn't even take her "allies" with her.

I would suspect she's being driven out by another Aleph, but the ones capable of it are also the sort to cause a huge ruckus. Well, there's also Silent Girl, but I'm discounting her on the basis of a lack of foreshadowing.

It won't be long before that question is answered, though I'll give you a little hint right now and say it wasn't originally her plan. You did something that necessitated a direct reaction.
