Nog, not nug. Think I got confused with Dragon Age.
They're under Everywhere.
They show up everywhere and act as the foundation for much of Avernus's carnivorous food chain.
I have a sneaking suspicion that they are a prototype for the Ork spore-based reproductive system. They might or might not be cultivable. They might or might not be exportable.
They might or might not be hiding something...

The Nog?
I have no preferance and put it in. Do we normally not focus on the more afressive creatures instead?

I just checked that we never did a Regional Survey of Duat. It does not apear in the Mechanicus page
[Results T78] <- first exploring
[Results T79] <- Biologis Survey done. Seems to be something different than Region Survey
[Results T80]
[Results T81]
[Results T82]
[Results T83] <- Surveyed the Deep
[Results T84]
[Results T85]
[Results T86] <- Garkill

Should I add that to Biologis?
@Durin Do we need to do a Regional Survey still in Duat? I ask because it is not in the Mechanicus page...

I'd also support looking at the Nug. Averneus is completely bullshit but we have no real idea what kind of bullshit. I think understanding the Nug will help.

We did that when we first explored the region waaaaay back when.
Yes. I found that one and linked it in my post. I wanted to see what possible research option in Duat are and saw that it was missing.
I ask Durin because it does not appear in the mechanicus page.
Let's wait for his answer.

Have added it to the action.

They're called Nogs, not Nugs, by the by.

As far as studying them, I don't mind the notion of it, but I'd rather arm our forces with an effective chemical weapon that we may well be able to deploy and test against the Orks before the campaign actually ends.

The interesting thing is the quantity of it.
It get hunted by EVERYTHING but it's species survive. It survives at the bottom of Avernus foodchain.

Prey animals tend to outnumber predators in ecosystems, so that's not really surprising. Ecosystems break down otherwise. And Avernus looks to have some means of forcibly keeping the ecosystems in balance. They probably reproduce by copying themselves or splitting or something. Or maybe Avernus just spits them out of the Warp to keep everything fed.

Also, not everything hunts the Nogs - there are herbivores on Avernus.

ehhhh, when ever I hear Nog I think Nug
I'm not sure why exactly, but I find them creepy.

The Nog and Nugs also share many characteristics (like nobody knowing how they breed, them getting everywhere and being universally edible.

@Durin based a lot of the Imperial Trust technologies on Starcraft so you can assume that the Power Armours look like their Starcraft counerparts.

Trooper:

Elite:

Destroyer:

Raider:

Recon:

This kind of looks like trooper and elite armor. Notice the visor-less space-helm protrusion.

Old technology made new
Fabricator-General Scott has also managed to make several changes within the indoctrination of the Tech-Priests that favour the progressive agenda, though this has led to some more issues with the conservatives. It was a bit earlier then she planned to push these though but there was an opportunity that was too good to pass up.
Opportunity knocks and I feel inspired to answer.

Old technology made new

With the recent changes to doctrine a number of progressive Artisans have begun examining existing technology to find new ways in which it can be utilized. This allows them to create innovative designs without technically violating the Warnings of the Cult Mechancius. While some conservatives still view this as verging on heresy the fact that Archmagos Tranth 'The Reclaimer' is known to have done similar work has prevented a unified opposition to the practice.

Gathered here are several of the more notable proposed designs:

Fortress pattern Storm shield
The variant of the Storm Shield swaps the usual power field for an ion shield, usually employed to protect firing slits in fortifications. This allows it to create a barrier several meters across, providing mobile cover for both the wielder and their squad mates. Due to power requirements it can only be carried by power armour and the barrier cannot be maintained under prolonged fire.

Gatling plasma blaster
This design calls for mounting three low-powered plasma rifles to an assault cannon rotation mechanism. The rifles are spun, each firing when in the top position. This results in a slight loss of damage and penetration compared to a conventional plasma rifle but a substantial increase in rate of fire and eliminates overheating under most conditions. As the weapon is still powerful enough to overcome Imperial power armour while being far more effective against hordes of lesser foes such as Orks there is significant interest in this design.

Extended range Flamer module
By adding the projectile containment generator from plasma weapons to flamers it is possible to facilitate a secondary fire mode, whereby a condensed 'packet' of burning promethium can be launched over long distances. This would allow flamer armed troops to engage enemies at ranges similar to that of impalers, rather than being limited to point blank targets.

Advanced Sentinel
One of the most controversial designs proposed thus far is the Advanced Sentinel. By copying, some conservatives claim merely being inspired by, knight-titan structure the AS gains a greater range of motion allowing the weapon arms wider targeting arcs and to be used for melee. A second weapon, a forward ion barrier and large jump jets are also added. However current generator limitations mean that not all systems can be operated at once.

None of these designs are remotely ready for implementation. Indeed many have not even been accepted for evaluation as yet. However the very fact that such proposals are being made and not instantly dismissed is a sign of how fundamentally Adeptus Mechanicus attitudes have shifted.

Some of the things Durin gets asked about makes me want to facepalm. I feel sorry for him getting bugged about every tiny detail constantly.

Just got done reading the main quest. Wow, what a read!

Is everyone just really against feeding inner circle cultists to the Sirens for some reason? Seems like a useful trade. I know Tzeench is hardly a reliable source of information, but there may be something that threatens the Imperial Trust as a whole on Avernus. It feels irresponsible to not find out about it from the Sirens.

People just don't like the idea of feeding human souls to xenos, Chaos Cultists or not.
That attitude might change if this Banish Rune works as advertised, but until then it's political and diplomatic suicide to push.
