Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Life is boring if you take the safe option every time.

[X] Sixiang the companion, the friend… and perhaps something more, it would make her already tricky situation trickier, but… she felt she could try.

Probably gonna vote this one, never really liked the romance parts with Sixiang, I want them as a friend.

If I had to throw my hat into the ring, I'd say, reluctantly, that Six should stay a friend. Part of that is narrative cowardice, I don't want Yrs to be stuck writing the Husbando Wars into every interaction.

But even in character, I don't think Six and Qi dating is best. I'll admit I love the idea, it's really cute, Six can really bring out Qi's fun side.

But Six and Qi have never really interacted as would-be lovers, and theirs already imbalance in any relationship they build. Qi admitted that she's never looked into Six as deeply as they looked into her. That's a place for toxic stuff to fester, and forcibly introducing that kind of emotional vulnerability not just into Qi's relationship with Six, but her relationship with the potential Husbandos seems liable to make it worse.

After all, someone has to win the Husbando Wars, which means others lose. Bringing Six into this when Six has so much narrative momentum and baggage really leaves me worried about either the Husbandos having to compete against Six, or having to figure out how comfortable they are with throuples. Edit; That seems a little cruel to them, to play with hearts is no laughing matter.

I prefer this option. Knowing that Sixiang was a spirit spun off from Ling Qi's dreams, having her as a romantic option doesn't sit right with me.

Look, if they're not down to go poly with a moon-muse do we really want to even marry them in the first place?!?!
And so, the very weapons used in the husbando wars had been changed, as a new devastating criteria was added to the battlefield.

Which ships would survive this realignment?

Find out in the next few arcs; same drugs=power time, same drugs=power channel!

This for me. It comes about due to a preference for the relationship they had before. I loved their banter and friendship/sibling-hood they had before this whole romance thing was shoved into the dynamic. I was also one of those that saw their interaction as siblings up until that point so cant lie and say that it caught me by surprise.

Ultimately Six role has been that of a confident, therapist and the one LQ can talk about hot muscles with. This is a dynamic that does not really exist in any other of her relationships and I was really fun to see Six poke around with LQ about it, get her out of her shell.

It also feels like a kinda weird route to me, like said in the update Six would be the mistress/lover while LQ married someone else and like... I really cant see LQ doing that. The character development she would need to go down that route does not "feel" like something LQ would do honestly, with her focus on family and communication. She is way to much of prude for that.

There's also the question for the xuan shi shippers to consider , how does Kongyou fit into all this ? Meng dan might be down for a poly relationship but xuan shi is a bit more iffy , I'd he is down would that make Kongyou a part of it as well since I doubt they're leaving anytime soon either ,

Would this unintentionally make the xuan shi ship harder and more prone to fail ?

We would need to warp LQ's understanding of family for the other option to work out in the long run ... and I don't want that at all.

Kongyou being involved sounds like a plus to me. I love to see them faceplant when they predict inevitable doom and failure. If they whisper to Shi that Ling Qi and Sixiang's thing makes his efforts doomed, and this turns out not to be the case, it would be delicious.

One thing I'm also not comfortable with is sixiang basically becoming a boy , even if they occasionally change back and forth , for lqs comfortability / the ship becuase lq at the end of the day is straight and likes guys which goes to reason as shown in this chapter Sixiang will either fully commit to becoming a boy or slowly change into the gender lq prefers .

I hate that. I loved my queer non binary gender shifting muse spirit that could be a twink menace or a fairy pretty gal or raver chick . Feels like a loss to me tbh

I don't much care for the romance part to be honest, with sixiang or anyone else so I'll have to give my vote to Sixiang staying as a friend.

It feels overly complicated, and three dudes are honestly more than enough for Ling Qi to deal with for now tbh.

Edit:
Also, not every close confidant has to turn into a romantic relationship you know.

Not even need to think about it. An author and his muse is not a revolutionary concept, even when I have seen people that are revolting in the floor at the idea here for some reason. Character growth aside, I saw this even back in the forge era as a possible development.

Not necessarily a fan of poly type stuff tbh, I know it exists in these types of stories/worlds, but I prefer Sixiang over any of the current options. If I have to choose between not at all, and making it work with her responsibilities I'll go with this.

Can only wonder how this will work out, but I can't see them as remaining only friends or family.

Six existed before Qi in another form, and now that they've found a dream worth staying for, it only makes sense for her to pursue what she wants in this life. No regrets for what could've been, for either of them.

This feels like lakegate, but this time LQ is considering changing herself to try and make someone else happy. Ling Qi and Sixiang both deserve better.

This, without a doubt.

Honestly, the idea of a LQ + Sixiang ship never even crossed back when I was reading this in Royalroad. And I was caught on the wrong foot when I jumped into the Thread and saw it was a thing.

I never saw them as potential romantic partners. Sixiang was too alien and separated from those human concepts.
Noy only that, but their interactions never gave me that vibe. It was more about irreverence and goofing around, but also serious talks and exploration about LQ's deepest emotions and thoughts.

I think it was that deep connection which led to the shipping, because that closeness can make you think "Oh, they would go so well together".
But I disagree with that notion that an important relationship has to develop into something romantic. That's a disservice to how important platonic friendships can be, to the point of becoming family.

I think first of all, it's important to establish that people like what they like, and that's okay. There's gonna be a diversity of opinion on this inflection point, and the only real wrong choice is being a jerk about somebody else's.

That said, [objectively wrong opinion].
