Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] No, the point of an Exaltation is free will and she has it, she will have it regardless of how the Neverborn might rage (Molly does not know if this is true; though if she says it it will be in the sincere belief it is)
-[X] [Stunt]: "An exaltation cannot be taken back, not without tearing apart the soul. She has done nothing to warrant that". Molly interjects, as something immovable began to grow in her voice.
—[X] "I should be more than enough evidence that a dark power doesn't have to make a dark person. What matters is what we choose to do with what we are given."
—[X] Turning to the one who was once called Inari, Molly met her eyes unflinchingly. "We've never met before, but I believe that all of this makes us something to each other. Hopefully friends. I choose to have faith in you instead of fear".
—[X] "And". Something seemed to flicker in her eyes as the shadows leaned in closer, curling inwards like beams of light caught between two singularities. "You will find that one of the best parts of being what we are is that if the world wants to make us move it had best think long and hard about how it plans to do it"

I originally ended on a double meaning that could be taken as a reference to the idea that anything can happen or Molly going full "I'll
fucking do it again" while functionally gesturing at the Neverborn aggressively for all the world to hear, but thought better of it because the reaction might be poor.

This stunt is hype.

I would like to point out that a single Neverborn directly whispering to Inari puts it in direct contact with Inari's social charms. If Inari spends the next year acquiring essence at half Molly's rate and uses half of that on socials, as well as devoting one or two AP each month to the task, I expect her to at least start making meaningful process in either getting the Neverborn to accept final death, or to accept resurrection

I don't think it's quite that easy. If exalted socials could solve the problem then I'd expect them to have been jerked around more by people who had them.

Also, the whole point of their plan is that they really want to die but can't unless they get rid of creation first.

I think this is one a hypothetical Elder Essence Molly would be better suited for, specifically for the resurrection option.

It's not possible for them because death was fundamentally not designed for entities like them. By making the wheel part of her themes and then growing to primordial scale it seems possible that she might be able to serve as a mediator to carry those concepts up to their scale. Then either apply it herself or make an alteration to reality to patch the eternal undeath bug for plot critical NPCs who glitch out if you manage to hit them with enough damage to make their health bar overflow.

That's probably post quest epilogue stuff though.

Canon exalted were not in direct contact with the Neverborn, much less in a one-on-one contact. That's a new situation. And I am fairly sure that social combat wasn't a go to solution. It's a fairly exotic one for this kind of situation, where it is, essentially, the only type of combat possible for both participants.

It would undoubtedly be a truly epic feat. One which might be a capstone of breaking into elder essence and would absolutely signify the start of a new Age. But it's not impossible, I think.

They're aware of their Fetters they just pulled such a deep connection to Creation that they cannot let go they are not in the river anymore they're not anywhere near the river they could just fall into The Abyss/Oblivion if they were willing to let go of those tethers that connect them to Creation they're just not capable of letting go so they have to destroy creation to die convincing them to let go I don't know if exalted socials can do it but is definitely an option.

Source Manual of exalted power abyssals

Yeah until the abyssals are made the only beings that had any sort of intelligible contact were the death Lords and even that seems to be but never born directing the death Lords to do stuff vaguely in a direction of killing creation rather than any real two-way communication.

Faith over fear, and a hand offered in friendship. Let it be the Molly way.

Molly does not know if this is true
It doesn't matter if it's true or not. We do the impossible. If it isn't true, then we will make it true. The rules of reality come in second to our exalted will.

Listens-to-Wind: Why do all women who interact with you become bigger headaches than you Dresden?
Dresden: It's a coincidence.
It is sort of funny that Dresden is going to end up with the Most dangerous contract list on the planet. This is the second Celestial exalt he has an independent connection to and he's probably going to meet the rest of we do on better terms than most can manage.
Their only two ways to deal with the Neverborn redo the old reincarnation device to be able handle primordial's, or finish them off.
I'm half tempted to make a comment about trying to reincarnate the Neverborn here just for the record scratch moment, but this probably isn't the time. We don't want to look too crazy to anyone here.

Inari will have to work hard to warm the Neverborn up to the idea of being resurrected, if we are treating the possibility seriously.
They are going to need to be reincarnated not resurrected they lost their names on death and to be honest they lost at very least 13 of their major Sub souls when the death Lords also died. They're going to need to be wiped and restarted otherwise they're not going to be able to live because resurrecting them would resurrect them in the endless subdividing state that they're currently in.

Or I'm way more fan of this as an option we convince them to really let go of their fetters on creation and just actually die and let the abomination of the Abyss that they created on death go with them.

Another option would be to make something that can forcefully erode or destroy Fetters but they're so metaphysically attached you would need Magic like entropic conceptual manipulation to erode them.

Reincarnation (and it would have to be reincarnation, I agree) looks better to me because it produces primordials with perspective that understands mortality in a way. It might enrich Creation more.

-[x][Stunt]words come to your lips as if you are quoting even though you have never heard them "The Exalted were made to do the impossible. In this thing as in all things they exceeded all expectations."

[X] Are there strings when you are handed a weapon and told to use it? An exaltation is a gift of power tinted a different color that is added to your soul. The shape of the weapon and who gave it are both important, but you are still you as well.
-[X] In other words, you have a spooky scary power, but you're still Inari, and as free as you wish to be.

[X] Ask the crown if she has free will, If yes, say it is true.

Arc 15 Post 67: Of Lambent Legacy New
Of Lambent Legacy

13th of March 2007 A.D.

Why do I feel like I'm paying Russian Roulette? you look into the eyes of the pale girl swirling with the essence of death. Oh right, that's why. Is this what other people felt looking at me nine months ago? "An exaltation is not the sponsorship of some other power, it is not faerie mantle, of queen, lady or knight. It is a part of the soul her soul. She has done nothing to warrant suspicion."

"How did you kill the people to attacked you?" Listens to the Wind's voice is deceptively calm.

"I drank Mr. Lin's blood and then, the cold parts. I needed it. I needed the power so I let it fill me before... dealing with the other one, the sniper with her own gun. Do you think I'm the first one she shot at? Do you think I'm the first one Mr. Lin or whoever he was lied to get close to, the first one he betrayed? They should be dead."

"Maybe," the old wizard shakes his head undaunted. "But I would be careful handing out death sentences to anyone who has ever killed."

"Is that a threat?" In contrast to her sister's Lara's voice is pleasant, if more neutral than usual, more 'business friendly' than the throaty timber of her usual dealings. "I can assure you my sister will not transgress against the secret that keeps us all safe again. It was an extraordinary moment with all the trauma of dying and more."

"Merely a statement." The old wizard says, though he continues in a tone unhappy as it is implacable. "The Council is older than the Accords, it wasn't founded to keep the secret, but keep the world of the every day safe from evil things. Highest among that charge is to guard against Those of Hell and Those Beyond the Gates and Those Below. What guarantee do we have here and now? Your word Mrs Raith?"

For a moment you wonder why he's pressing her on this... and then you realize, he's asking what Lara would do if her sister proves to be a threat she cannot contain. After all the Council had seen what you can do and this is the heir of a power even more destructive. What would her world be like? A vast necropolis of eternally bound to her will?

"Have you burned every book on necromancy already?" Lydia asks then, unexpectedly. Even you had forgotten she was there. "Send to their death or stripped of the power every necromancer? Definitely not that last one, I'm still alive. The dead come when I call and the bodies of the fallen answer my will. I don't have to use mannequins you know I simply choose to."

"Lydia Rhys your heart's in the right place, but I've heard this talk from too many others. We stand now knowing little even you and Mrs Carpenter, even her..." He tilts his head in diffany's direction, one of the bags on his belt jingles faintly. "Though it might be better that knowledge isn't relevant. All we have not is a guess, a gamble. Your power we know..."

Her brows furrow, in anger, in thought? Both? You could not say.

"Truly? Did you know Lamentations of the Void recognized me, the work of Kemmler's arts? Do I require a sword hung over my head?"

No one answers, though you can hear Harry draw in a harsh breath and you can only imagine what Arawn is saying if he can hear this.

"They are creatures of Oblivion, they feed on fatalism like fire feeds on kindling. You're not preparing for the worst, you're encouraging the worst." She rounds on Harry. "And you? Signore 'let's fish her name out of the Void'? Do you understand the depth of that sacrifice? I certainly do not, but I know that it is matched by the regret that she might feel. If you succeed, if such a thing can be done, congratulations you get the gold star for wizardry, if you fail you might as well push her in after it yourself."

"Lydia...?" you start, not entirely sure if you want to stop her or congratulate her

"'All the trauma of dying Molly', she's like a ghost!"

"Oh..." Inari looks up over Thomas' shoulder. He was holding her hands you notice. "That is a good thing to be called, the Silver Ghost.... no the Silver Phantom. It almost sounds like a superhero. Bobby... Bobby will probably like it." Blood starts to drip from the corners of her eyes, the only tears she will ever shed.

"Right, I think we are done here," Lara says, her tone challanging.

What do you say?

[] Agree, Inari... Silver Phantom could use some rest

[] You could use her help finding the others if she's up to it

[] Write in

OOC: Sorry this took so long, it was rather intense and I wanted to make sure everyone would be true to themselves. Also yes Lydia tends to get more formal and either more Sicilian or more Welsh as she gets pissed off.
