[X][Military Industry] Canticles of the Machine-God

[X][Heavy Industry] The Grand Note

[X][Food Production] Verdant Worlds
[X][Heavy Industry] The Grand Note
[X][Medical Services] Untouched By The Coming Tide
[X][Military Industry] Fear Not The Dusk

[X][Food Production] Green Belts
Said it before, said it again, it's just ridiculously good and synergizes with our entire society, especially since Verdant Worlds doesn't actually create Maiden Worlds. We need to think bigger guys -- this basically solves organic resource requirements for our entire society, asteroid belts are fucking enormous. This means we can supply our Pilgrim Fleets and their efforts better, it means we can feed Van Zandt if their resource worlds get crunched, etc. It's stupid good, and IMO Verdant Worlds isn't competitive with it when we're already getting Paradise Worlds with Sacred Sands.

[X][Heavy Industry] Roaring Engines
I'm fine with Grand Note, but this synchronizes very well with Green Belts but also just lets us hit way above our weight. Also, don't you guys want to see more Dreadnoughts?

[X][Medical Services] Untouched By The Coming Tide
We're already extremely resistant to Chaos, but being resistant to stuff like Ork Spores and Tyranids means that we're going to be very resistant to the two biggest other sticks in the setting.

[X][Military Industry] Canticles of the Machine-God

Fine with immune to morale penalties, but I like automata. That being said, I plan on taking autonomous so that's fine enough for me.

Ultimately, while I'm neutral on MilIndust, I think the first 3 are very synergistic. We can hit way above our weight because we can utilize all our space much better (something that leans in on Icon5) AND get just somehow Produce Three Times More military industry. One action produces 30 Flag Armadas or 300 SBGs. That's literally more than our current Fleet Cap for SBGs, it's absurd.

And being resistant to Chaos AND Orks AND Tyranids is just icing on the cake.

[X][Food Production] Verdant Worlds
[X][Heavy Industry] The Grand Note
[X][Medical Services] Untouched By The Coming Tide
[X][Military Industry] Fear Not The Dusk

That is the best available combo. Green belts builds on our philosophy of building tall nicely. Provides more living space and food. Engines gives us a bigger military which we are gonna need and ties nicely with canticles which we are going to be making a lot of use of against the nids. Taking away a major advantage of serious enemies also works beautifully since that's a large part of what makes so deadly.

Not sure why many want verdant worlds. The qm said it doesn't really give us much.

Something to note is that Grand Note allows us to replace the Astronomicon over the long time, which would also be an incredible benefit if we survive the Tyranids (and we should, since we've already thrown a lot in that direction)?

Plus, we currently have nothing on whether the Shadow is a thing, but if it is the Grand Note will likely help prevent our FTL from getting reduced in effectiveness?

As for Canticles, it's great, but there's also a decent possibility of that getting reduced in effectiveness due to the people they were supposed to support getting nope'd out of there? We aren't that heavy geared into Automatons that that would not be a significant loss.

@HeroCooky Does Grand Note count for Military or General Actions? Does this count as Math Fuckery? (Please have mercy, the Quest is almost over anyway :))
Psykana. And yes. In what world does a .15 translate to a full 1?
Is a verdantworld helpless, or is it just much weaker and obviously not able to take on something as potent as our dreadnought?
You are trying to compare something created by a Psychic race that could print patrol fleets that could bitchslap the Federation within a day to something you are barely scratching the surface of.

Is it because I missed the last step in showing my calculations?
(3 + 7) * 2.3 = 23 => 7 free Cry Actions, so my math is consistent if that is allowed.

Otherwise, if you think it would be helpful could we have the soft limit for calculation purposes? Since we need to do forward planning if we want to know what we can get, and if we can't practically do the Grand Note without giving up on our Research we may have to vote for something else.

Oh, it's Psykana? Huh, okay, neat. Works Generational doesn't work on it, but Class in Session is pretty cracked.

There's no reason why the Shadow shouldn't be a thing, but uh, the Shadow is also something that interferes with being able to see the Astronomican (real). It straight up disrupts all forms of Warp Travel and communication.

That being said, the Shadow isn't like, literally multi-subsector wide. It's limited to local space of where the Hive Fleet decides to show up. It's not like that I don't think that the the Grand Note isn't useful, but honestly if we're concerned about the Tyranids 3x Military Production is honestly way, way better lol. "i just have more metal here, fuck you" is a very, very hard argument to beat

Edit: Honestly the real question is is if Dusk allows Choirs to just straight up power through the Shadow of the Warp @HeroCooky. Obviously it won't nullify it, but there's a very strong element of a will check for Psykers to stay sane when using their powers within the Shadow, and obviously the Tyranids are an existential threat, so...

@HeroCooky What exactly is Verdant Worlds? Like, the other choices are rather apparent and actually says what it does up front but Verdant World has nothing but a vague one-liner that doesn't explain anything.

Is it taking the first steps on the path to creating world spirits or something to that effect? Would really like something to work with on that choice.

better logistics, true mega-engineering project, the so awaited society wide inmortality/rejuvenation we hoped for the entire quest, and full mobilization with high morale against any threaths

That doesn't feel like an answer.
Could a verdant world do to a destroyer what Maiden worlds could do to Seyfert?
Aka, is it much less in that regard or is it nonexistent in that regard?

The reason I'm going with grand note over roaring engines is about ambition.

When you're a small, expanding polity fighting lots of enemies what you need is production, so that you can win your wars, outproduce your enemies. But when you're a huge polity with resources to spare, internal stability & logistics become king. You have the resources to win your wars, but what's limiting is the coordination, logistics and time to get everything where it needs to be.

In other words - to challenge the Imperium what you need is Roaring Engines. To replace the Imperium you need Grand Note.
