Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Good. Lets try to recruit the new blood. Or at least ally them.

I think we can ask where they are later. Maybe use a knight, and ask where the four newest people to awaken essence are.

I think there must be some good things to ask here.
Where are the other exaltations?
How did these one choose who to go for?
What else is down there?
Probably not that last one.

I think the demon reach ones should be kept in a different tally. Those freaks aren't sparks looking for hosts, they're proper exalts who are probably past the essence cap. Moreover, nobody gets put in that prison unless they're either unspeakably evil or a committed threat to the existence of reality. Very different from the free floating sparks.
I haven't included Demonreach in the tally.
Hell is probably already moving on them.
Hell in what way? Denarians at least do not get access to outside intel - one area where Heaven reigns supreme is intelligence gathering and knowledge. "Mysterious Ways" >>> Anduriel's "listen from the shadows", and that's the greatest intel gathering ability denarians have. And they are the only agents on Earth at the moment. I kinda am expecting Michael is leaving house as we speak on an emergency mission. Sanya too. Hell, it's quite possible Dresden or Murphy have just been called to serve as Knights for an emergency mission.

He's still a valid focus, but about himself not the exaltations, he did not even know what those were.
Ok, brainstorming ideas here:
1) TTC a long-handle ladle, gather some water from Black Ocean, use that as focus?
2) Quickly gather some soil from where we stand as a focus?
3) Use the artifact we won when visiting Mothers as a focus for "what are the locations of currently active powers on Earth that are older than this"
4) Burn the globe as the focus

We also have an option of using Fae favors to help them locate the exalts. Odin as Winter King would be compelled to help us.

This is an emergency, but we have some time - abyssal exaltation takes days per ExvsWoD.
I think we need to try to get a trusthworthy allied solar asap. Whether it's Michael or Daniel, we need to start working on this.
Yeah, the concern about containing Solar shard to prevent proliferation just went out of the window, and, assuming it didn't just auto-release (because this is a large emergency), the action meant to contain it should be spent on shoving it into the closest allied host we can find.

4 abyssals released in this scene. 1 solar (Dawn caste specifically) in Las Vegas, with a paired abyssal shard somewhere deep under sea (I sense a pattern here).
You are correct to sense a pattern. To spell it out: The five abyssal castes are Dusk, Midnight, Day, Daybreak, Moonshadow.
Dusk is the counterpart to Dawn.
This update featured the other four.

Ok, we definitely need to get to the last one - if nothing else, we could use the abyssal shard to find the others.
I wouldn't assume so simply because that would result in yet another Abyssal releasing which adds to the chaos if the release of several is the perceived emergency.
Good point, but it would depend on how smart the release mechanisms are. An abyssal was always going to be released when the solar got released. Yet it was still to release during a disaster.
You are currently standing on a kind of suspend balcony that looks just a little too much like cupped hand of an arm extended towards the sea below. There is no soil, just rock you would have to chip away at.
Ok, not chipping off bits of a Neverborn.

Since no one saw this coming, all is not lost. Abyssals are not inherently evil, and Lydia should have an in with them. And an E1 Abyssal with no support network should be something we can handle, both socially and in combat. Narrative causality also almost certainly demands that we'll get Murphy shot on the job to exalt as an abyssal or something like that.

Oh yeah it is triply impossible for anyone to have seen this coming:
  • An act of Free Will
  • Performed by an Infernal Exalted
  • In the presence of a Neverborn
...at least with foresight. I make no claims about intuition
;)

Well it's a way to up the ante oh yeah. It'll be interesting to see how much of an impact this has on the world...was it worth it? Depends entirely on how things pan out. It's certainly wildly dangerous and Neverborn are obviously still ready to move and still have shards...

Isn't the whole point that it's really fucking hard if not impossible to somehow create an exalted? I mean sure meta says use existing characters but we have Lydia as Exhibit A that Dragon Paradox is hardly scared of creating influential OCs.

Generally yes but isn't this like the most conceptually "shadowed" realm ever? And yes I think by this point Molly is would be the priority list for general scrying and using all those fancy info gathering techniques/exchanging favors to get info that are too expensive 99.99% of the time.

I assume Uriel and others are capable of noticing the exaltations streaking across the world. At which point I hope that the knights are going to dispatch towards new abyssals the moment they exalt. Especially if the exaltation is a drawn-out process as it's described in ExvsWoD (it takes several days for an exaltation to fully activate for Abyssals).
Wait long enough for all four of Midnight, Day, Daybreak, Moonshadow to pass everywhere in the world.
Go to Las Vegas as the next action, and try to secure all the abyssals, including the unreleased one as part of that action. It actually makes sense.

We had a number of debates around this. As far as I can tell, there's no textual evidence in canon that it's impossible or even particularly hard to select who will exalt. It's impossible to revoke the exaltation, and exalts are not compelled to obey anyone, but selection itself is within the realms of possibilities. Other posters disagree.
