Arc 15 Post 40: No Business Like Show Business New
No Business Like Show Business

AllSeeingEye: Yes, also how the hell did you find this channel?

You fire off the text before you even consider the swear word, but then if it's one thing you didn't expect to find in a secure sanctuary network is was your little sister.

Leech1995: Social Engineering ;)

As your little sister of all people explains Hollywood has been lying to you for more than a decade. Hacking as it turns out has less to do with jabbing at a keyboard really fast while looking cool and spouting enough techno-babble to rival Mr Spook and more to do with getting people to just hand you the required permissions. She and Wraith have been trading on your name hard.

AllSeeingEye: We should tell Mom about this.

Leech1995: Now?

Anxiety almost seems to come off the screen in waves with just that one word in waves, you don't quite have the heard to confirm it.

AllSeeingEye: Later, but we are gonna have to. Wanna go see the studio?

Thankfully school's out for the day which is how you end up in a trailer park in LA with your little sister ready to make a speech to variously bored, drunk and hung over film crew and actors all following along with weary eyes.

"We are assured when we are little," you begin pulling the blinds of the old 'dilapidated farmhouse set' that had been the setting of so many of your favorite movies. "That monsters don't exist. So even should someone see a monster, he still doesn't remember it that way. In his mind's eye," all around you sparks of spectral green start to glow brighter and brighter, orbiting your location like planets to the sun. "They see a 'big dog' or a 'large man' or a 'blur at the edge of vision' — anything except the thing that doesn't exist. That's the easy answer that papers over what happened, and the world continues on, blissfully ordinary. If you want to go back to living in that world I understand. I've prepared a generous severance package and I will be writing glowing recommendations to everyone who walks out that door."

"Oh shit... Darby really was a... something else?" A woman with strips of pink in her hair and decorative chains in a half a dozen metals hanging from her belt.

You nod curious how she'd know and more curious why she's alive to say so, but raise a hand. "Wait until everyone's made their choice please."

Not a single person moves from their seat. Huh, guess you don't work for Red Star production from too much caution or a lack of curiosity.

"He was a vampire of the White Court, I'll explain what that means in a moment..."

"And what's she then?" A tall lanky man you know as Peter Monroe asks, pointing at Leech.

"That is my meddling little sister who knows a lot more than she should," you announce, a dozen startled laughs breaking the solemn silence that had fallen on the place. Leech looks a little too smug when you add: "Also she knows her way around a computer."

"Huh, I'd have guessed 'gnome'," the man says. Judging by Leech's expression she would have stuck out her tongue if she was half as old as she is, but from the towering maturity of tweenhood she has to make due with a 'harrumph'

What action do you want to see next?

OOC: I thought about trying to roll though this but nothing really flowed easily from here so a break seemed most appropriate.

[X] Evil Bob: Last you heard he was somewhere in Egypt, or at least the monster he bargained with was, 1 AP

When do we have to do the Big Score action to get the lottery money again? I thought it had to be done early March.

Found it. The 390 million lottery money planned for the Big Score action which is on the Plan vote was claimed on March 6th. It is March 11th.
It was relegated to an SGI option, so I think it's mostly offscreened? Of the on-screen actions, Bob or True Magi or Las Vegas are the most pressing, I think.
It was an action that requires the Crown of Eyes and technically the only time sensitive thing on the list at least for the 390 million USD that was talked about for the action.

@DragonParadox So did Molly win the 390 million off-screen or will we have to settle for a significantly smaller amount of money from that linked page?

Remember this isn't exactly our world, the secret world makes some of its elements subtly different, that guy from the Federal reserve wasn't the same one as in our world for instance. Which means there is a big jackpot to be won yet, but it hasn't been claimed yet, it's a week later on March 13th in this world.

So two days from now. Is this going to be automatically done for the 13th with Molly for the Crown question then a clone to carry it out?

Yes, that is how you guys voted for it.
Ah, I get it now. So regarding the SGI bits voting for one of those would either give us more control or just allow us to see what transpired now rather than later but not voting for one wouldn't stop it from happening.

So Molly will just randomly get a phone call from a clone no matter what she's doing for the Crown question regarding lottery numbers. That's kind of hilarious.

Also.. it means that if an SGI action is selected the clock is going to have to be turned back for prime Molly later on doesn't it? And if theoretically another SGI action was selected right after the clock would have to be turned back even more?

Though.. what if PrimeMolly ends up asking for a clone's help but that clone already did certain things during that time frame that we voted to see... Would that clone then be locked out as an option for being too busy?

Yep, the clones can't be in more than one place at a time, no recursive clones ;)
Okay so then to be clear, one of the clones should be locked out during March 13th for example unless we tell them to drop the action but if it was already written and posted that won't be an option because then you'd have to rewrite it and potentially delete entire chapters to retcon an action taken by the clone onscreen.

I'm still wondering about the time though. If we were to choose SGI actions then go back to prime Molly we should be expecting the date to go backwards in time then in this case back to March 11th?

Yes, I try to avoid that where possible to provide a smooth reading experience, but in the case above I would have no choice.

And in that same vein, if an SGI action were voted for like the Evil Bob one you could just write it in during any of those days leading up to March 11th to avoid time being brought back for prime Molly, though in that case if the clone were to call Molly to teleport in with water to help out or for backup we wouldn't have the option of considering dropping our current Molly prime action to do so because those chapters were already written.

That is how I try to weave things together yeah.

Not sure if this would result in more agency or us just seeing what already occured then but I suppose I'd rather see what happened with Evil Bob earlier rather than later. He's been in story since the first Arc.

In a way he is our Nemesis but not actually since there is even a guy called that who has been meddling with us for just as long.

[X] Crown Questions
-[X]
What does Mab know concerning the subject of your exaltation? (use the recording of your talk with Mab when she referred to you as Green Sun)
-[X] Who was Hollow Man referring to when he offered to tell Molly of other people like her in exchange for his life? (use record of his word)
-[X] How (by what means) has Mikaboshi seized the power from its previous owner? (use freed Wicked City slaves)
-[X] What are the consequences of Harry becoming the Warden of Demonreach that the spirit of Demonreach is unable or unwilling to tell him about? (Recording of Demonreach speech)
-[X] What has Thorned Namshiel learned from their encounter with us? (Record of Thorned Speech)

I'm extremely curious about literally all of this information and to be honest it feels like these are questions that are good to have answers to well before any real action takes place potentially on any of those fronts and a good breather before we really get on the train that is hunting enemies in Egypt or in the Never Never.

At its core it's five Essence for just massive Secrets / greater understanding of ourselves our enemies our allies and what we and potentially our enemies are capable of.

Yeah you like that huh? I put over half of those on there by the way~

What foci are you using for these?
I put the Crown foci for my three questions on there.

Yog wrote the other two.. for Thorned Namshiel it would have to be the Clippy recording of our encounter with him. Not sure about the Harry one though.
