Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Takes too long and too much essence that we could have used elsewhere on things we know are actually dangerous.

Plus we can't ask about unknown unknown even with broad questions anyway, as it would first require getting focuses for them, which we can't search for since we don't know they exist.

That includes trying to search for focuses for it, as we can't search for them without focuses close enough to them to search, which comes back to the first part. Trying to search for unknown unknowns with the crown is likely to lead to a catch 22 in short order.

There are limits to the crown and this is one case where they matter.
Okay, I think your misunderstanding me. We'd be asking broad questions of the Reds is what I'm saying. If something comes up from that, that's another thing but we'd be focusing on the Reds which is why I was talking about their foci. Unknown unknowns pertaining to the relevant party in question. Not completely random things.

Can agree with the reds, I thought it was about unknown unknowns because the topic was what was brought up right before.

Yes, though it would come with some kind of catch, you cannot get immortality for nothing
Would having to keep taking the treatment be enough of a price? That would actually make the Splendor cheaper and simpler to make? I'd like to point out that mortal alchemy at 4 dots is capable of slowing down aging by a factor of 12. 365 at legendary 6 dots. The only cost there is that you have to keep taking the treatments.

Here is where we are running into a disagreement. While having better knowledge of Red capabilities is good, they aren't really unknown. There's an upper estimation for them which they fundamentally cannot exceed. The Red Court in its entirety, or parts of it, cannot have enough military power to be able to directly destroy White Council without incurring unacceptable costs or risks. If they had such power, White Council, or at least Hidden Halls, wouldn't exist any more, because Red Court and White Council are in total war with each other. We know for a fact that they are peer powers. And thanks to canon knowledge, we can estimate the total military power of White Council. And my numbers demonstrate that we should be capable of military power concentration significantly in excess of White Council.

Now, this leaves bargains as unknown. Red King selling Mexico in its entirety to Lucifer or doing some similar level of insane bargaining might give him brief overwhelming power. But the crown won't help us learn that, unless the bargain has been struck already.
The cost to you would be having to buy the charm.
Oh, nice. There's a number of different unaging merits in various 20th edition books, I'll look for one that works best.

Can agree with the reds, I thought it was about unknown unknowns because the topic was what was brought up right before.
...I think I see what happened here. The matter at hand is predominantly the Red Court along with their allies. I gave an example to Yog earlier regarding Peabody and how nobody knew of the veil destroying bomb associated with his plotline that was probably made by warlocks, Peabody's faction.

Yog started talking about Super Saiyans, Angels etc. When he started going off about random things unrelated to the Red Court I stopped paying attention because as far as I could tell that had nothing to do with what I said. It's fully possible that when he said "unknown unknowns" he meant it in that way and wasn't talking about the Red Court at all.

Things like random ass aliens from a different fictional setting or lore regarding things that may never be involved in the Quest in any tangible way other than lore aren't an even remotely rational concern to me so it didn't occur to me at all that he may have been asking that.

Yeah, it is almost like infernals popping out of the woodwork makes the other side up their game. :V

It's fully possible that when he said "unknown unknowns" he meant it in that way and wasn't talking about the Red Court at all.

It's extremely likely, as the red court is not an unknown unknown but a known unknown.

We know they exists, we don't know their exact capabilities.

Though we can speculate part of them based on both what we see in quest and the books.

Arc 15 Post 21: Strange Flowers Blooming New
Strange Flowers Blooming

27st of February 2007 A.D.

Chicago isn't getting any less strange by the day between the still incognito last Knights of the Round Table, the Wizard who both started the war and broke the back of an outsider plot and the Fallen Angel he lives with and your own... unusual self, a fact which some people are looking to take advantage of. According to Tiffany there is talk of setting up some kind of Accorded Powers Mortal Liaison Office in the city, mostly from Lara who had taken the news of so many major attacks on the status quo, from Vegas and Boston to Edinburgh and Paris quite poorly. A strictly voluntary movement of course, she assures any who would ask as she sends out feelers for the proposal. Since the US is the heart of the largest mundane military alliance it only makes sense to set up shop here... and the fact that it is White Court territory and within a stone's throw from their base of operations has nothing to do with it of course.

"When you come right down to it the Accords are a set of rules dealing with what not to do to alert mortal authorities enforced by Winter which is among the least inconvenienced by whatever said authorities might do," Tiffany explains as she smokes a cigarette out of what can only be aesthetics or a playful sort of nostalgia. "Mortal authorities have been very much alerted of late and they were the ones keeping the truth out of the ears of the populace. Those communication channels could do with being organized, perhaps a blue phone instead of a red one with golden sticker stars. What do you say Harry?"

"As long as they aren't phoning me," he grouses, though not even half seriously. It had been a good month for Harry Dresden as well once all the terrors had been banished and all the dust had settled.

Between all the people you met and all the deals you struck spring was sure to bring all manner of new agreements. One could only hope that no late frost would end them.

6+2 Infernal AP Available (Extra AP from not sleeping may only be used to add progress)
Actions marked [SGI] can be performed by incarnations such as Pods, though not to the same standard as the infernal
24 (4*6) SGI AP available

School
Not that many months to go

[] [SGI] Attend school you have friends at school and you would like the memories of senior year and graduation even if they won't be teaching you anything worthwhile
[] [SGI] Get your GED and get out, on the other hand you can think of better things to to with your time (Costs 2 AP, frees you from spending anymore actions on school)

Finances and Infrastructure
Though you are not tight for money you can think of places to make more

[] In the Sky a Thousand Eyes: If you see something you can stick a demon in it. It occurs to you that satellites are definitely something you can see with the right tools, though you are going to have to figure out which ones you want and what orders to give them.

[] Tools Redeemed: Thinking back on that paraphernalia you looted from the Fomori tantalizing insights come to mind... and more immediately relevant it will mean you can finally stop mooching of Harry's equipment. (Gain Alchemy Laboratory Halved XP price for reaching Alchemy 4)

[] Sign of the Red Star: Get yo know your newest venture and how they might be integrated into the growing web of ownership and vassalage around you

[] The Other side of the Mirror: Explore and secure Nevernever areas corresponding to the Last station

[] Updated [SGI] A Big Score, your Crown isn't really made for picking out random numbers in a mundane draw, but it is still your power so you can push it that one time to win a lottery... any lottery. You will have to find the balance between payout and anonymity and some place to park the money but that seems reasonably doable with some help from mom and dad, and unlike some of your other plans they are unlikely to object to this form of cheating at gambling

[] NEW [SGI] Big Screen: Work on turning your movie studio productive. Olivia is studying to be a professional performer, so she might be a good future star, or know aspiring talents you might want to recruit. And surely Sanctuary has both the stories to tell, and special effects far in advance of the best of Hollywood, which can be applied through the already established studio.

[] NEW [SGI] Entertainment from the courts: – cartoons, video games, card and board games are a worldwide phenomenon, present in all cultures, and far easier to transfer from Sanctuary to Earth due to the nature of both happening in imaginary worlds. You can use Harry and Alphas to test what works best for Earthly players.

[] NEW [SGI] Advanced materials: High temperature superconductors, advanced steels and alloys, nanotubes and more exotic materials still – your Courts understanding of material science is far superior to the best Earth has to offer. Time to start leveraging that advantage. Look into starting exports and/or production Earthside of materials that Earth doesn't have analogs of. Nothing too advanced at first, of course.

[] NEW [SGI] Chicago Real Estate: With the real estate crash merely blunted and delayed, but not averted, and seed money coming in, it's time to start investigating what to buy.

[] NEW [SGI] Las Vegas Real Estate: Basing rights involve having actual base.

[] NEW [SGI] Earthside portal real estate: no matter how fictitious it is, having claim on the Earthside land around the portal, or at least preventing Red Court from having it prevents at least some troubles from arising

[] NEW [SGI] Gun Running: Coordinate giving Saint Giles some real backing in a mix of material transfers and operational support. 1 AP/Each
-[] High explosives and similar materials, Medical equipment
-[] Export grade weapons of the types they already have samples of.
-[] Permission to flee into our territory
-[] Sutra cyber attack squads stealing everything they can get their hands on from the red court and funneling it their way.

Investigations
At least the cannibal isn't around here anymore. Progress?

[] [SGI] Look into the Minor Talents of Chicago, so far you have been isolated from the supernatural scene of Chicago, now that you can get in touch with them without necessarily having your dad with you all the time the time has come to change that... though given how both Mouse and McCoy thought you were bad news at first maybe you should bring dad or Harry along to some of them just as an introduction
-[] Alphas, friends of Harry, close to you in age and they work to keep monsters off the street near the University, they sounds really cool
-[] Friends in Low places, she might work for Marcone but Grad was really cool and you are curious about her. Fortunately you remember the number dad dialed to get in touch with Marcone
-[] Spirit Speaker, Mortimer Lindquist is the real deal, a real medium among the fakes and unlike Pauline he is good enough at it, or just good enough at marketing to make a job of it. His books are pretty cool as well

[] NEW [SGI] Hunt Down Foes: As many many ships of the damned as you sank last month plenty of rats managed to abandon them in time
-[] True Magi: From Africa and Asia, from Europe to Australia... and even some talk of Nazis in the Nevernever of all things
-[] Evil Bob: Last you heard he was somewhere in Egypt, or at least the monster he bargained with was

[] A friend in need. You promised Rosie that you would help and so you will, with problems material and ethereal
-[] Dreaming True, Rosie is doing great so far, but she still needs more training before she can get a proper hold of her powers (0/15 progress)
-[] NEW Convention Time: You did promise and Rosie is doing a lot better. There's the baby to consider sure, but you have a whole world in your soul, keeping Amanda there on the go should be fine

[] Blackest Name: In the final ritual to help Arawn you invoked something old and hungry, something that seemed to resonate with the purpose of the ritual, its name writ in a long forgotten tongue. Thanks to Bob you now know it involves the would-be-Draculas of the supernatural world, the Black Court. Maybe Lydia can help

[] Servants of Darkness: Between your own insights, Lash's and the body of the fallen Akuma it occurs to you that you are in a good position to practice the soul trade... ethically, you are in a good position to practice the soul trade ethically

[] Seek Siriothrax's hoard: Two decades ago your father was called to slay a Dragon, a being of incarnate power new mortals have faced and lived, by faith and by skill the creature was slain and your mother saved, but its treasure and its body were never claimed. Now... well now you have a place to stash said treasures out of sight of any who might look in askance of your claim to them

[] Secure the Shard of Gold: The Temple of Ra Descending holds a mechanism of ancient wonder at the heart of which rests a shard of power born of past ages. While they have been good swards to it until now it still worried you that such a thing should be protected only by mortal magic and faith. See if you can get them to accept more protections

[] The Queen and the Kingdom: Get to know one of your lands and peoples
-[] Join Isabela ton a Conan-esque jungle adventure, it's sure to be a blast
-[] Introduce the Jade Dogs in general to your kingdom, some of them will likely prefer a world where they do not have to hide what they are

[] [SGI] Crown and Scepter, see what good your unique talents can be put towards in Sanctuary Can spend up to 6 SGI AP

Personal Training
You have been progressing in leaps and bounds in the study of the Qiao and you have been... exploding bottles less often in the study of alchemy. In both cases you are eager to learn more.

[] The Bridges of the Spirit, continue your training with Brother Divsimar not in the ways of the spirit but the mind, the Bridge of Dreams

[] Trading in lore, you have started down the path of learning alchemy from Bob... and revealing some of the deepest secrets of Yomi Wan, both very good things as far as you are concerned. (0/25)

Arcane Allies
For better or for ill you are starting to get a reputation in Chicago, best make sure it is more the former than the latter, at least with the more reasonable and trustworthy powers. As for the people who are neither... well you certainly seem to have an impact on them

[] Cauldron Bubble, your new friends in the Ordo Lebetis could use more help, maybe not as... enthusiastic as the last time, but they are small fish in a very big and scary pond
-[] See what's up with Helen, there is something eating away at Helen you are sure of it, something dark and strange, dark and strange is your specialty
-[] Updated [SGI] Online presence, one of the few advantages of minor talents over more powerful magicians is that they are more up to date with technology and less likely to make it explode. See if you can convince the others to set up a strong online presence, maybe even recruiting

[] Contact the Librarians: Given that you are the sovereign of an interdenominational magical nation it might be worth having a talk with a branch of the federal government that is aware of magic, the one that didn't introduce itself by trying to frame Harry right in front of you.

[] A Chat with Lady Winter: Maeve has proven herself helpful so far, if only for spite's sake. Maybe it would not hurt to spend some time with her. She's a lot better than some whose company you sought, though that is admittedly a low bar

Crafting
Dreams filled with brass and smoke, soul artifice of an impossible city, you reach for tools and so are made things wondrous and strange unseen in this Age of the world (Crafting may have as many AP assigned to it as you wish, success will depend on the rolls made during the action. One week of crafting time is worth 1 AP)

[] Prodigious Artifact: Whether it be for Daniel or some other 'mere' mortal caught up in the world of vampires, warlocks sorcerers and demons you've had a thought for a working... a ring perhaps to grant a power both flexible and strong
-[] Write in number of AP assigned

[] Wheels of Fire:
As cool as Black Rider is you are sure you can make him cooler, look at what you had done with Mab's car with mere mundane means
-[] Write in number of AP assigned

[] Favors Owed:
Just as you are owed favors by the Fey Courts so too do you owe others following the past month
-[] Protections for the True Ventori up to 3 Favors
-[] Work for Monoc 1 Favor

[] Updated New Artifact Workshop: Crafting a place of potential, a wild seed so near to the world of form is no easy thing, but once it's done you are sure it will pay for itself in full (8/10 AP)
Joe Magarac will automatically provide 1d4 AP worth of progress per month
Tiffany can and is willing to provide up to 4 AP per month

[] Attune and Study the Dark Rider: A treasure that should not be from a time that is not, what did you win from the girl-child that was neither girl nor child in the House of the Seasons?
-[] NEW... or you could give it to Harry [Free Action]

[] NEW A God for Chicago: The city could use a protector for when you're not around and you even know where to start... you think (0/12 AP)

Family time
As much else as you have to do, it's nice to spend some time with your family and it is rarely boring hanging out.

[] [SGI] Updated Family Unknown, now that you know the full story your feelings towards your maternal grandparents are complicated to say the least, but people change right? And even if they didn't you have other more distant family in Boston that it would be cool to meet.

[] Just relax: You can find some free time.... somewhere.

Vote Will Open in 13 Hours

OOC: If you have more sugestions for actions to not hesitate to add them.

Molly takes the baby into her world, tells them she is her Goddaughter. Most well protected baby ever.

Damn, so we didn't have time to talk to the Dragon about the Exaltation thing, or whatever it was, that he swallowed before Odin got to it?

Uhhh ... what? From what I recall they're more a framework for diplomacy and dispute resolution between major supernatural powers, and cover things like under what circumstances the host of a party can poison the food
Between all the people you met and all the deals you struck spring was sure to bring all manner of new agreements. One could only hope that no late frost would end them.
Unlikely, considering Mab was the proponent of the Unseelie Accords :p

Sorta; there were already old customs/traditions along those lines, but they were only formally made a thing with the Unseelie Accords because the advent of technology meant the threat of breaking the Masquerade is greater than ever. The reason Mab didn't want to let things lie is because it's easier than ever to notice when a town drops off the face of the planet, and nobody wants the mortals aware that the supernatural is preying on them.

@DragonParadox I am a bit confused here. We went for the Dragonblooded first with the intent of addressing the dragon and what he swallowed after knowing that we had water travel to teleport over to him to initiate dialogue. We learned more about EvilBob then decided to go after whatever Lily of summer told us about when we learned that's what they're after. We voted not to tell Odin several times because we wanted it for ourselves.

Should it have been understood that in talking to the Dragonblooded we gave up talking to the Dragon before the month closed out even with some hours left?
