Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Well, that was definitely one of the darker notes if the quest.
And it will not be the last either, but hopefully none will be this long or this dark.

I am thinking this, currently.
But remind me, when will be the marriage again?
Because the auction should bring out the good stuff for that, both as respect tothe Duchess and because a lot of powerful people will come for that event to the Heavenly Pillar.

10 days after the new year
Hm, yeah, definitely want to wait for the auction then, personally.
But any auctions this close should have good stuff in them already as appetizers for the higher ups next month.

Edit: and, of course, the best of the best will be saved for next month for this weather clans and guests invited, regardless of realm.

After all, which old monster wouldn't gift good stuff to their favourite descendants?

I think meeting the school and it's people would be good. Partially to show our support and by extension the duchess's daughter's support. Plus it will allow us to see the more normal type of cultivators who don't have our drive or our insane growth rate.

True on one level, but there's an important distinction of motivation.

I'm very much of the "cool motive bro, still murder" school of thought. Vigilante is a label describing the motives of a person. Serial killer is a description of their actions. Dexter would be in the overlap of that venn diagram, but I'm strongly against the idea that murder stops being murder if you have a good enough motive.

Agreed. Vigilante killings are still murder.

But I do think it's valuable to distuingish between a killer vigilante and a person like Dexter. Dexter isn't a vigilante because his motive isn't to enforce some sense of justice or to try to protect people in some misguided manner or the like.

Dexter's motive is to kill people. His targets just happen to be selected in the same manner a vigilante killer might select targets.

I'm not saying a vigilante isn't a murderer, I'm saying a vigilante is a description of a specific motive for murder. Dexter does not have that motive and thus doesn't qualify.

Hm…that is a good point, but I feel like there's a decent chance that the 'best of the best' as you describe would be outside of Ling Qi's budget. She's not poor by any means, but the 'upperclass' of Xiangmen and whatever really fancy stuff they'd be selling would likely be extremely expensive, or full of people who have unreasonable amounts of money to throw around and would indirectly raise the price of anything worth buying.
There's also the matter of how there might not be a future auction that we'd be able to attend, so I feel like putting something off until 'later' isn't the best of ideas.

I feel like people are sleeping on the Auction option here.

Like sure, you might say - what's the hook here? The Gold Autumn School stuff builds on prior character interactions and developments, but the auction is, like, what?

To which I say yes. Exactly.

Indeed, in discord yrs literally said that is was the mystery option here. And who doesn't love a mystery option? Aren't you all a bit bored of being a good responsible girl who goes and does paperwork and shit? Let's just go out there and hang with Xia Lin and see what happens! Maybe we get loot! Maybe we get an unexpected encounter! Who knows? Do we really want to hive off back into work after a heavy arc?

Plus Renxiang just gave us all that money and basically told us to get high. Or something. I can't really remember the details. Do we want to just keep leaving that to a bunch of vague abstract numbers we forget? Lets have some fun. Let's poke the mystery box.

A casual search of the thread didn't answer this, so I will just ask. Do we have everything we would theoretically need for a new flute? I vaguely remember getting something for it from the old lady winter spirit that gave Xuan Shi the chicken. Did we ever make any further steps on that or are we just sort of hoping it appears fully formed from the aether? If not isn't the auction a really good option for trying to get this going before we go off to war with a weapon we form out of ice that doesn't provide any actual benefits?
