Blow up the world, conquer the world, turn everyone into weird aliens, have us subjugated by other aliens… because he has repeatedly tried to do these things and never shown any attempts or intentions to do anything else.
At the very least this ends with Kane in a position of power and us saying "why did we let him do that".

I am excluding my OOC knowledge of Kane's real origin and history and meta knowledge-of-the-future of the TCN
I have learned the hard way to never argue with what the writers of a quest have written down. Squid presents the choices as factual and not something that is meant to be a trap.

Tech can be developed and while Kane might have some toys a lot of the tech he shared with Nod will become available as Nod is integrated like it was in the past.

The lack of erosion is part of the problem. Rebuilding soil cover over anywhere that has exposed Tib-granite will take hundreds, if not thousands of years. Any rainfall is going to wash right off and flood instantly, no aquifers or soil to absorb runoff into groundwater.
Most areas aren't 100% covered in Tib, so a lot of barren soil already exists. A tough rock at least stops what is left from being washed straight into the ocean. We don't really have the capability to instantly reseed things.

However, we are on track to majorly push back surface Tiberium. So it could be feasible to reduce all surface RZ to Yellow at least and start reseeding before initiating the granite conversion.

I'm sorry, but I will always prefer the option that leads to more integrated, diverse societies that attempt to be honest, synthesize the best of both, and, most importantly, reduce the amount of internecine conflict between sophonts.
Under that lens, I am all for embracing the difficult process of uniting once more. Back to back against the darkness between the stars, fighting together against everything that may come.

I want unity, but I want it through diplomatic processes, rather than by word of Kane.

I think I'm willing to see the future work towards political integration put off, in part because I am interested in seeing interesting reactions between the Citadel and culturally Nod-influenced humanity.
