Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Quick alert for people who are voting for him to talk to Ebenezer we don't actually know what the black staff is I was looking for when we learned that and we never did we learned what the staff itself is and who it came from but we don't know what the Wizards are doing with it.

You now know what the Blackstaff is at a deep mystical level... and still do not know what the Blackstaff the posting is. High cosmic insight low politics, but then as soon as you mention the name to Carlos or Harry they will tell you, though the latter may have feelings on the matter.
You do not know what it does, you'd have to have rolled 10 successes for that from just a look. It would be considerably easier if you were holding it but Ebenezer doesn't look like he's inclined to share

Oh yeah I forgot that.. it's supposed to be a secret but Dresden or perhaps more realistically Tiffany should just tell Molly at this point what the Blackstaff position and object does because that is very important context to have from a political perspective.

Yeah it's really important from a political perspective but we have exactly zero dots in politics or law. If we never asked anyone who the black staff was or what their job is Dresden's not going to volunteer it and Tiffany is either going to assume we already know and is also not going to volunteer it we have to ask them or anyone really.

Molly is all about those metaphysical Secrets when she learned the Deep metaphysical truth about the staff she completely forgot about ever getting the Practical details and realities of the situation surrounding the staff.

Dresden is all about casual secret keeping do we or anyone even know in character about his possible still alive ex-girlfriend and possible daughter in Central America yet or is that kind of just stewing in the back of his head while this whole thing is unfolding.

I'm willing to vote for buying one or two points in the future. And ok, you've convinced me. We need to put a little pressure on him.
[X] No, try to argue him around to Tiffany's side. Now is not the time to voluntarily disarm himself even of the most distasteful weapons
-[X] "You've lived with and fought through the Doom of Damocles all of your life, and shown that it is possible to overcome the influence of Lawbreaking through choice alone. You stand as an example for others. If the White Council wishes to avoid having this book become a crutch that it is reliant upon, then it will need a beacon such as yourself, to shine the light of self-determination."
-[X] Empathy excellency

We don't know about the politics, but we know (I think) about the function, and that Ebeneezer is using it, and not hiding its use from Merlin and other Senior Council members. He murdered Hollow Man in front of us by magic (turning all atoms heavier than carbon in his body into nothing).

[X] Maybe he should talk to Ebeneezer first? Blackstuff exists and is used for a reason, and you know Harry is worth the trust
-[X] If he's still resolved afterwards, then yes, if that makes him more at ease, no matter the reason you are happy to help

On top of what Degorium said about Harry killing a body, I don't think the HollowMan counted as human at all. He spread his being across the HiddenHalls to fuck with wizards using the Sight, his soul was described as being inside out, Molly said that she thinks he's the "furthest thing from God" a person can be.

At some point down the line you stop counting as human or mortal altogether and your free eats as far as the first law is concerned, like the corpse stealer who could steal bodies just like the HollowMan tried with Harry.

Molly has got to be the only Queen of a world with zero dots in both politics and law but to be fair she's been at it for less than a year. Still, it is a concerning dump stat to have.
In fairness we are closer to like a god of our specific hell even if we are its leader the government is doing just fine running without us. Our orders just supersede others as the god queen.

That's true but as the Quest goes on Molly's going to be representing the FFC in more and more endeavors on Earth with both supernatural and human political parties. At some point she's going to fall short of negotiations and the like due to not having a politic ability at all. Hell back when we went to Summer with the Archive we had the option of representing the Five Courts when speaking to Titania. Imagine doing that with no dots in politics.

In fairness we have advisors.

Yeah but they aren't going to be around for every interaction with a political power like with Titania. Also people who aren't already worshiping you will accurately perceive it as a weakness if they see that your both an 18 year old monarch and reliant upon advisors because you don't understand politics.

Somewhat but in fairness you know monarchs have advisors that make decisions. Also plenty of supernaturals have people that make decisions for those above them since those above them don't have time.

Monarchs have advisors that make decisions because delegation is a requirement for a ruling body to function in the first place. They don't typically have advisors speaking for them because they don't understand politics themselves.

I mean regents are a thing.
Regents would be of limited value to us since our people are alien to both the mortal and supernatural sides of earth. There's a reason why we were present for the first contact with the Library of Congress. The vast majority of the time it'll be better to be there in person if we want to talk brass tacks with a foreign power.

Well yeah just debating the point of advisors taking over certain roles.

Arc 14 Interlude 18: Knights' Passage
Knights' Passage

20th of February 2007 A.D.

"You had a war against the Empty Kingdom and you didn't tell us about it?"

Lydia had expected the knights to sound annoyed at missing out on the fight, she did not expect Gwair to sound hurt.

"Both of the battles took place under cities, they've been changed a great deal since last the three of you walked under the sun."

"Yes yes, we know, people don't believe in magic anymore, the which is a thing wholly foolish when they seem to be doing so much of it themselves."

Another time she might have gotten into the argument about the difference between technology and magic, chemistry and alchemy, but now wasn't the time. According to Tiffany the three of them were adept enough to at least not cause a spectacle in public, the worst attention they'd draw would be from Gwair's green hair, surely?

"I'm not keeping you here if you want to go, my only concern was that battle would turn friend against friend in the chaos. The enemy was already using glamor craft to sow those seeds. Imagine if you will dozens of wizards, many of them trained for war attacked in their own home bearing sudden witness to strange and ancient magics."

Lyr puts a hand on his friend's shoulder. "You know she has a point, you've lived it same as I."

"You don't have to remind me!" The snarl fades into a half surly half contrite look.

"The fact of the matter is we can only learn so much from words, be their dispenser as wise as she is beautiful," Lyr turns to speak to Lydia, as though he had not heard the angry words. "We need some place to go out there that isn't quite... 'the entrance of a Red Fair with a lute over the shoulder.'""

"Is that what she proposed?" Lydia did her best to stiffle a laugh as she leaned against the wall.

"In jest but we grasped the point."

"How do you feel about providing protections to some of our friends, with some of the True Magi on the loose and maybe knowing who Molly is and where she lives they may need it."

"A fair thought," Sir Gwair Mabon rumbles rubbing his chin.

It was only after putting together supplies for all of them, a few changes of clothes, toothbrush and baste, a thousand dollars each walking around money, a few books in Latin that it occured to her to wonder if Anna would would like to deal with real life Knights of the Round Table. It would surely be fine.

The boat bumped silently against the black sand shore, ready to cary them onto the western sea and from there it was one somewhat awkward flight to O'Hare as her three travel companions were engrossed in the most mundane of details. Lydia was pretty sure no one had ever paid as much attention to the pre-flight safety rules.

"Does this preparation actually work?" Gwair asked confussed in Latin.

"It works at calming passanger's fears."

"A useful skill in a world filled to the brim."

OOC: Because Chicago did not have enough magical wierdness going on already. On the plus side Molly and co can help keep an eye on them.
