The only sane person in the thread, advocating for creating support ships by using the support ship templates.
lol okay but to be fair we unlocked the Grand Cruiser and Battleship hulls so that was the first one thought of. Also way more DP to play around with than on the Heavy Freighters. I would say putting some minor stuff to help with support ship duties. like the
Arboretums, Large Repair Bay, and a Large On-Board Manufactory which is really what we want. It would take making a few of them compared to the One Battleship sized supply ship and having it without weapons. its very much all your eggs in one basket vs spread out so losing one isn't the end.
Oh, if only you had over a dozen recently updated fleets capable of constructing entire shipyards on their lonesome in whatever system they anchored at, for as many times as they desired. If only...😔
Yah its a shame but we need to design some and we never thought of about going beyond the range of our borders.
.....What a minute. The Kali'drabi updated their ship designs? oh right their battlecolony and light cruisers are made to do repairs on the classes lower then them and to act as resupply points for their ships. Wow we completely forgot about the Nomadic part of it huh? So we have frigates and destroyers covered, same with Light and Heavy Cruisers I think... only problem is the battleships. I do recall the QM saying the way the Kil'drabi doing thing is unfolding the scaffolds that are kept folded inside it and how the light cruiser was capable of of servicing all the frigate wolf pack at once. I guess if they updated it we have have some extra room for them to service the rest of the fleet more. Most likely still need something for the Battleships.
Your kills? You haven't even so much as entertained the notion of sending basic raiders at any of the Cults, much less the Feculant Maggot. If anything, you'd be stealing their kills! Like some dirty stream snipers!
Its the PRINCPLE of the matter! and its not like we haven't done that before! Just look at what we did during the 621 war! we just need to break the spine of the Slaanesh cult armada by destroying the six battleships and then chip away at them while going full force on Nurgle's cult.
I assume this is the Nomadic Fleets?
I see, that's interesting -- I'm a little surprised, because the Kil'drabi fleets I see "just" have the Automated Internal Foundries in the Battlecolony, a few small on-board manufactories, and a Large Repair Bay on the Light Cruiser.
Yah it took me a minute to remember the thing about them as well, we have enough to service Heavy cruisers and below but they are meant to handle the group they travel with. hoping for another repair thing to handle that on the light cruisers and Battle Colony. Larger repair bay is on pair for the light cruiser and what I was thinking of for the Heavy Freighter originally for a support ship. Automated Internal Foundries? that seems strange. Well time to check.
[Kil'drabi] Harbinger of Our Journey-Class Battlecolony
-Length - 28.001m
-Width - 6.001m
-Acceleration - 1.1 Gravities
-Armor - Deus-Ultima Pattern Armor
-Shields - Five Refutation-Pattern Void Shields

-Equipment - Emergency Transition Warp Breakers/Auto-Loaders/Automated Voidhaven-Pattern Manufacturies/8x Genetic Lineage Memory Banks/4x Iron Wombs/Snapshot Pinpoint Targeting Solutions/Missile-Swarms/Macross Missile Massacres/Splitter-Missiles/BESH Missile Store/Lifeship Hangars/Arboretums/Voidshield-Surge Capacitors/Infused Amor-Plates/Icons to the Faith
-Detriments: Slow Crawler
HOLY HELL! they used to be 7.5 before! how did the Dutchy confuse these for battleships?! Now you can confuse it for a battleship with it being 28 km long. okay the Kil'drabi went bad for this and their Battecolonies are now this big and THAT fucking tanky both in hull and void shields. and of course the sheer amount of Macro cannons... oh wow they have the Mine alyers and Super heavy missiles... and the heavy torpedos WOW they really put a lot of weapons on it this time, I guess it being this big and having that much DP to spend would make it worth it to include and be able to use that weight class. Surprised they put the mine layers on it.
a lot of equipment... Oh, Void Haven pattern Manufacturies, that seems... big I guess? a lot of genetic lineage Memory Banks and Iron Wombs to fulfill its role as the Battle Colony. a lot of equipment for boosting the weapons and accuracy, they are using the Lifeship Hanagars which does much sense as they want to save as many of their people in this if need be, this ship is NOT meant to fight to the death. Infused Armor Plates will help with maintenance and attrition damage, the Arboretums so they have the food situation just fine now. I have to assume the Void Haven is the repair bay stuff that folds out to repair and restocks ships and the like.... I still don't think it can fully repair other Battleships at max 28km size but it will repair just about everything else.
Anyone wanna imagine if a nomadic fleet went back in time from warp travel and ended up back in the sector right as the Great Rift happened? or just a couple of these fleets and the reaction of the Imperium to them?
[Kil'drabi] Citadel of the Chronicle-Class Heavy Cruiser
-Length - 5.400m
-Width - 1.000m
-Acceleration - 4 Gravities
-Armor - Light Fortress Armor
-Shields - Three Lattices
-Weapons - 4x Heavy Rotary Macrocannon Batteries, 1x Anti-Voidcraft Defenses, 2x Light Plasma Macrocannon Turrets
-Equipment - After-Burner Macro-Shells, Snapshot Pinpoint Targeting Solutions, Auto-Loaders, Armored Lifepods, Lattice Hulls, Ship Shrines
Okay so now we have the bodyguards of the Battlecolony and they had more stuff added, more length and width as normal, more armor and shields, two more Heavy Rotary Macrocannons. More tanky and has a much more bite again. I wonder if two to three heavy Cruiser is enough to act as a bodyguard anymore considering the size of the Battlecolony.
[Kil'drabi] Feather of the Stars-Class Light Cruiser
-Length - 4.400m
-Width - 600m
-Acceleration - 6 Gravities
-Armor - Medium Triple Hull
-Shields - One Matrix
-Weapons - 2x Heavy Plasma Macro-Cannon Battery, 3x Light Plasma Macro-Cannon Turrets, 1x Anti-Voidcraft Defenses
-Equipment - Large Repair Bay, Auto-Loaders, Small On-Board Manufactory, Armored Lifepods, Lattice Hulls, Ship Shrines
More increases in Length and Width, increase of speed by 1, increase in armor and another Heavy Plasma Macro cannon battery. Not bad.
I think the thinking is that Chaos can Think With Portals and just general long-held Chaotic Space is spooky, especially as we get near Daemon Worlds, and a Crusade Fleet would be operating near solo (from my understanding). Neon only collapsed for a short while compared to these massive polities, and thus any ship that is in the Fleet needs to at least be able to defend itself. Like, an army marches on its stomach, so these would be an immediate target because you throatcut as much logistics of an invader as possible, because a defender has the advantage of easy supply lines. Obviously we want them guarded, but also we want them to be able to defend themselves.
It's why I proposed two sets of support ships -- the dedicated logistics / support ships when we have secure supply lines that may also be used to help Expeditions or similar, that can help us evac civilians and support our warfront, while the Crusade Fleet logistics ships can be deemed at least somewhat secure and defend the stomach of the Fleet in a hostile space.
yahhhh it is dangerous but at this point we don't have a choice to postpone. We first need to stop them from getting slaves to sacrifice for their rituals and to start pushing them back. We should focus more on containment rathe then striking deep into their heartlands. But I do get what you mean considering how Chaos Ships are built and outfitted normally. So going two sets of support ships is fine, spreads it out more and gives the fleet a buffer in case one gets detroyed. I do think we should attach two or three SBG's on escort duty alone or just build the Battleship to do the heavy lifting and then some Heavy freighters to act as Forward Operating bases, they go with the fleet as it advances and do repairs in recently taken systems while heavy damaged go by to the Main tender and the Heavy Freighters are the ones doing resupply with the other ships of the fleet.
n, I think art of that issue is that those kinds of options are locked behind write-ins, and most questers aren't going to think about writing in their own options unless it's particularly glaring in its absence or there's a popular user advocating for it
Yahhhhh, it really is. Recall my constant badgering about Librarians and the dismissal of it because it would cost us choirs we could have instead and some thought it would be a whole new research tree because they would stop using the choir system, It wasn't until someone asked what being Space Marines do to them and the QM saying it would let them handle the Melodies and songs better along with not needing to be defended like squishy baseline human choirs would. It turned out as well it was a free action to let them recruit and then it was done.
Same thing when I asked about Dreadnaughts but it there was a path in the tech tree for that or noted down write in and asking the QM for what we could do or not. One of them being the Iconoclast Break away state but everyone would be against that and tired of Dutchy stuff. Same with Absorbing the Lords of Eternity that we should have done a while ago as a write in, same with Defense stations being a write in option until it was given as an initiative to have once we completed the project.
Someone needs to be asking the QM if we can do X and then remember or bring it up constantly. We just need to take a fresh look at things and ask 'why is it like that?' or 'what else can we do or think of?' to see what write-in's are doable.
We've definitely been way too passive. I guess one part is the whole hive world campaign burned a lot of people about getting into long protracted conflict.
But also people are WAY too focused on research and numbers go up. A lot of times it feels like people have completely forgotten this is Warhammer.
Agreed but as I explained before and will bring up, this was after we built the planetmaw and then did either pyskana or research for a good while and said we would do the Developments after, then the warpstorm warning and getting prepared for that, then the closing of the warp rift, and then we started on Developments, I voted for it since I felt it was in good faith as we built the thing and it would be good to do the developments and it just ended up taking longer then we thought since we went to min-max the way to all X development.
You are right in 'numbers go up' can happen in quest and lost it in when the quest if focused on it. Add to it no one wanted to design ships or produce out dated ones when we were planning on the Tech Rush Turn.
RL issues popped up, no fluff today. Will do so for the 4th Gen tomorrow.
Vote for Green-Black Ship Capstone:
(6-Hour Moratorium)
[] Bubble Drive
A drive that utilizes our understanding of gravity manipulation to "scrunch" up space in front of a ship while "stretching" it at the back, thus propelling it through space without an engine. Though quite slow compared to even unguided Warp Travel, at around two weeks per light-month, it represents...potential...
(Gain: Post-Credit Non-Warp FTL. It is both slow and costly...but does not touch the Warp.)
[] Animated Metal
A miracle among miracles, this "Animated Metal" is capable, under direction of our Magi, to repair itself by re-morphing into its pre-assigned shapes. Though slow to do so, and thus not meant for planetary battles, it will be a boon for the civilian sector, drastically cutting maintenance costs everywhere, and for our ships, even in limited capacity, due to the drawn-out nature of void battles.
(Gain: Post-Credit Self-Repair Material. Matter Triumphant.)
Oh shit, sweet stuff but lets be honest, Non Warp FTL.... its 40k and its the beginning of it. better to grab it and have it as a fall back option.
Animated metal is good and worth it on its own as well though, helping with maintenance.
1. Very much so.
2. Grow larger, help them in the upcoming Slaanesh Cult War, subvert their culture, overthrow their political leadership, murder everyone even slightly against your vision of the future, dropkick their metaphysical representation in the Warp into a black hole wile screaming "LEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!" etc. etc. etc.
Yah, figured that but good to have confirmation here with it. We NEED to expand godamn it! oh right, do that as a write, sent a SBG or two to go into the independent Sub-sectors and make contact and start expanding south of that. We need more Subsectors to handle an merging with the Shipwright.
Also very much a hostile takeover and asshole-ish move after being allies/friends for so long. But I'd be opne to subversion of the culture and starting movements.
Necron stuff was literally a case of "Yeah, you ain't going there unless you are lucky enough for [Extremely Rare Circumstance] and do [Very Dubiously Pay-Off Action] while it happens."
And this is the capstone of that. The finisher to a set of Actions created out of a joke and a throw-away comment.
Wait, really? that was all a joke thing at first? damn, that why did you have the Yeeni to keep finding and bringing them all back home?
and to be fair, it did need a holy turn for us to start, which was always going to be rare. By the way you haven't been rolling dices when doing the songs.
Keep in mind that this is like...28 months, or 2 years and 4 months for a 5 LY journey. A Warp Drive does that in like...7-30 minutes, top? 3 1/2 Hours to 1 Day real-time?
Ouch, so its tech that makes it possible but not feisable and the Warp drives are still just that much faster... so another 10k of R&D and it might approach a third of warp drive's speed then.... maybe. Still say its worth it to have.
Still that much time delay is insane....
Yes, but it is absolute murder on the Drive. Enough to make your military logistics officers draw guns and press them against your temple if you even so much as *think* about putting it on any military ships.
Hahaha, good old Logi officers and since we took over the Ashan Families there is a precedent for logistics rebellions. As is it it NOT meant for combat ships and more of a Military Industrial Complex Gimmick, fair enough.
They're the "Fuck you. Void Station." level of manufactories.
..... HOLY SHIT. That's why it means!? The Kil'drabi really went all in and designs. So from the Battleship it unfolds... Yah I can honestly see how it would be viewed as 'fuck it, its a void station' I mean it would extend far past the ship in this case and given its a 28km battleship .... that shit has to be huge. I can see how it fixes everything right now but we need to BUILD those Battlecolonies now.
With all Upgrades yeah, without the Splitter about even, slanting toward Rotary a tiny bit.
Well now, that's impressive considering how Missiles were before, glad we finished it. Wonder how that affects the Lamenters ships? considering that alpha strike destroyer.
But with Splitter, they straight up dumpster everything else in close quarters battle, good to know.
We finally did it, we surpassed FAST ROCK as a brawling weapon in 40K.
HAHAHA we made missiles more powerful with the equipment upgrade for BRAWLING?! oh lord that's a surprising. How much does that change things except for bragging rights of the next stage of Rocks?
By replacing it with NIMBLE ROCK. *Sniff* they grow up so fast.
Our entire history it just more advanced ways of
boiling water throwing rocks.
Stand Proud Imperium! You.... were a real fracking mess and horrible thing but you were the standing point, the new has surpassed the old.
[X] Bubble Drive
1. QM how crazy is it for the BattleColony to have 120 light macro cannons? on par? or surprising to go that much for them? How is the Battlecolony in a fight, if something did try to rush past the Citadel Heavy cruiers? since the macro canons, Heavy Missiles And Torpedoes seem hard hitting. Why Burner Seeker Mine layers though?
2. Would sending SBG's Or scouts south of our new Subsectors to check on the state of things be a write in action or free one for scouting? and would we just give out orders to our Military to head into the Sub-sectors and start conquests? just asking since we have a direction to expand now.
3. now that we increased the missile damage.... how terrifying are those Lamenter with ultra alpha strike Kopesh missile pods?
