Automation buffs might help with action economy. Last time we took a "increases automated industry efficiency" action it reduced the action costs of just about everything
Yeah! This. The last time we did a bunch of automization it gave us more fleets, better design actions, more research, more colonization, etc. I'm all for doubling down on that, including improving them and singing a song to protect them from corruption.

It's also kind of a 'sidegrade' that shouldn't increase their corruption risk much since it's adding biological components to the automata, not making the automata components themselves smarter. And it's not like biological components are immune to corruption, but they're not much more vulnerable than people are.

The our fleets get a chance to see action so we could see how the Cancer performed?
Oh yeah, I swapped auto-build to the new destroyers. Is that appropriate?

... Cancers are Heavy Cruisers, we can't auto-build those.

Depending on the results of this choice I gotta say we should do this more often...not sure how much it hurt our fleet but this was fun and is giving us buffs some of which might be mechanical

(Vastly upgrades all your Automata's processing capabilities.)
Also the "Vastly" is crazy. We have never had a vastly. Like actually. Last time was minor increases. This thing sounds crazy

Yeah, I think our Automata boost is the way to go here, it was gated behind a lot of pre-requisite stuff after all.

We should probably spend an action to get the safer automaton song before we do any 'higher quality' automata research if we do choose that option.
Honestly agree. Doing the "Shield us from the Four" and "Machines shielded against aberrant thoughts" are probably good pulls if we go down this route

Also all the ancestor songs are gonna be crazy. I want to do them all

Well we might be able to do something if we do Shipyard Automation, like seriously even the Black Ash churn out Ten light Cruisers each turn on auto. we need to still start on getting it to do frigates. I'd really like to just start on it and get to the light cruiser phase.

I mean, while they can get 10 light cruisers per turn, I think we're able to just massively output more ships if we dedicate the actions towards it. Not just b/c we could conceivably do 4 Fleet Building actions with Heartbeat of Industry, but we have 2 traits that specifically boost the amount of ships we can make per action.

While automation is good, part of the problem we have with the Destroyers right now is that we don't really have a place to put them due to how our FTL is so if not scouts they kinda just get thrown in with a big blob fleet.

Honestly, I think it's less "They churn out 10 light cruisers per turn for free" and more "They get a lot more weaker actions than we do, because each individual world has its own actions".

We could absolutely break that productivity over our knee with contemptuous ease, they've just distributed their actions better so each individual planet isn't actually doing too much. They certainly don't seem to be getting the same "Every system you have has the same Inf as the polity" like we do after all.

Also, let's not forget they're mostly producing Imperial-era level ships too. Which we can absolutely rolfstomp even now.

My hope is that, at some point, we can automate enough ships to just churn out SBGs over time...but we will see how that goes

I am deeply conflicted between the two. Both seem good and have wide-ranging societal effects so I will go with this one but am okay with either
