When you say slightly higher quality, what does that mean?

I am tempted to just grab Britannia, the HRL and OZ for this... Rely on getting solid reinforcements at the half way point.

'slightly higher quality' means more up-to-date machines and better pilots. Also, unspent LP is going to run into diminishing returns FAST. Maximum results will be between 10-20 unspent LP. Anything more and you're just going to needlessly gimp yourselves going into phase 1 of the Gundam Seed finale.

Justice Gundam, Freedom Gundam

The Freedom and Justice are already deployed. Also, the selection calls for Super Robots and you have 3 more you can bring on the mission, aside from the 2 valid choices you've made.

[X] Plan no Points left behind

Again, since it seems to have been missed... Lunaryon's plan as it is isn't valid, since it's missing 3 Super Robot choices. If you want something that is valid and along the lines of Lunaryon's plan, vote for An End To Hatred, Version 1 (which is the exact same plan, just with Super Robot choices filled).

We need as much metal on the field as possible.

Okay, whoops. Fixed that now.

It's still not fixed...

In addition, pick FIVE Super Robots from the allied character sheet to deploy.

Destiny isn't a Super Robot. Also, we have better choices to bring than Grungust (which I'm sure we only have on the protag of Kotetsuhin Jeeg, who's still at Ability 7, so he won't contribue much to the fighting). And you are still missing a choice (two choices, since as I've said earlier, Destiny isn't a valid pick).

Aren't most Gundams with Newtypes piloting it via Bio Sensor and Psycho Frames kinda Super Robot nowadays? I mean Gundam Unicorn and Narrative had thrown off the pretense of Real Robot once they demonstrated many abilities that came out straight out of a Super Robot show.
we don't have the Destiny 2 with it mirage clone, we just have a basic bitch one from Stella

the D2 could count as a super robot with it clone spam but it not here so the Destiny is just a Real Robot

There are a few things we should consider from our last fights with BC
1. Strike Daggers while looking a bit shit absolutely anhilated our HRL forces and seem to fight on a level akin to EFF regulars. However what makes them worse is the fact tha tBC probably has the ability to continuously regenerate their supplies of Strike Daggers
2. The Druggies bonuses lower over time so a long fight is more in our favor, especially with characters who have bonuses tha tincrease over time
3.We haven't fought ZAFT forces as much but I would wxpect that Rau has something like the Newtype stat and some sort of DRAGOON bonus

Cool also since you like suggestions and ideas I have a few
1. Maybe have a bit of dialogue about why Blue Cosmos has stripped down Aestivalis units. Because I thought we made Nergal loyal to us quite a while back.
2. A bit of horror could be Brittanian forces fighting against BC MA forces since most of their enemies have been other Brittanians so they're used to at minimum surrenders and not complete war crimes. aybe something like this
Sutherland pilot: Why are they attacking us with Moebius units?! These were outdated before even out time!
Vanguard pilot:Their cheap and they can kill us at a good exchange rate. Keep firing.
Glocuester pilot:FUCK GOT TO EJECT
Vanguard: quick cover his escape pod!
Sutherland: why..Oh god!
BC: Kill the traitors!(starts blasting KMF escape pods)

August UE 0084
Outskirts of PLANT, L5

"Blue Cosmos did what?!" You say in alarm as you rush down to the hangar of the Ra Cailum along with the girls.

"The evidence is irrefutable: Blue Cosmos destroyed the Boaz space fortress with nuclear weapons." Amuro Ray says as he drifts alongside you.

"But how did-of course, that 'door' Creuset was talking about back on Mendel." You realize.

"But how did he manage to leak the plans for the N-Jammer Canceller to Blue Cosmos?" Yukari asks.

"Flay Allster. Remember that he released her at the end of the battle at Mendel?" Amuro points out.

"Damn! If we'd known..." Nina gripes.

"There's nothing for it now. We're just going to have to deal with it." Lucia points out.

"Well said." Amuro says as the five of you enter the hangar.

As Amuro goes off to the Hi-Nu Gundam, you and the girls get over to the Rose.

"Hey..." Yukari says quietly as she settles on the scaffolding. "Are we going to be...okay?"

"Uh...yeah? Not a lot of things that can stand up to us when we're together in the Rose." Nina responds.

"I...ugh..." Yukari huffs, unsure how to phrase what she wants to say.

"Yukari." Nina says, clapping her hands on her girlfriend's shoulders. "You're a kind, compassionate woman. And that's why I love you. I'll always be here for you, and so will Lucia and Mira."

The gesture seems to assuage Yukari.

"Thanks. I love you." Yukari says simply.

"I love you too." Nina says.

The two of them kiss, Yukari running a hand sensually down Nina's thigh while Nina gropes Yukari's butt. The two of them separate after a few seconds, mercifully sparing you, Lucia, and the surrounding hangar crew any more second-hand embarrassment.

"Please stop reminding me I'm the only one of us who's still single." Lucia says as the four of you get settled into the Rose's cockpit.

"Sorry." Nina and Yukari say at the same time.

The four of you can't help but share a quick laugh before running through the pre-launch checklist.

As everyone launches and joins the main intervention force, a Zeon comms officer informs you all that ZAFT has started broadcasting a propaganda speech on all open frequencies. Out of curiosity, you and the girls decide to listen in.

"We will never let those barbaric Naturals drop a single nuclear weapon on us ever again!" A resolute female voice announces.

"Who's that?" You ask.

"I believe that is Ezalia Joule, a high-ranking member of the PLANT Supreme Council." Lelouch says.

"After the Bloody Valentine incident, we refrained from retaliating against the Naturals with nuclear warheads, yet they have once again betrayed us and our prayers! We can no longer forgive them!"

There's a brief pause, seemingly for Ezalia to catch her breath.

"Courageous soldiers of ZAFT! Now is the time to show your strength! Show them that we're not to be trifled with! Show them who the new leaders of the world are!"

"Long range scans indicate that Blue Cosmos and ZAFT have engaged!" An N.U.N.S. sensor officer reports.

You grimace, recalling the conversation you'd had with Lelouch earlier. Looks like this is going to be messier than either of your most pessimistic predictions.

"Please, those of the Solar Vanguard and those who fight for peace." Lacus broadcasts to the allied fleet.

"We mustn't allow a single nuclear missile to hit any of the PLANTs. If that dreadful blade of light stabs through those who have no reason to be harmed, it will only lead to endless tears and hatred once more."

Some among the allied forces make noises of approval.

Aboard the Eternal

"We may already be too late." Lacus sighs after finishing her broadcast to the allied fleet.

Waltfeld and Aisha both give Lacus a brief glance of sympathy before turning back to their tasks. In short order, the Eternal and Archangel have launched all of their mobile suits.

"Okay. Deploy the METEORs!" Waltfeld orders.

"We declare peace, but with weapons in our hands. The choice we're making may also be evil." Lacus muses out loud as she watches the Freedom and Justice connect with their METEOR units.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWWTRrHH-GE

"However, please give us the power to put a stop to this string of battles, which has no end in sight!" Lacus concludes.

You are Yzak Joule, and you are currently fighting to prevent Blue Cosmos from further encroaching toward the PLANTs.

A relatively close explosion gets your attention, and you turn to see the Raider smashing apart a GuAIZ with its flail.

"Damn it, those guys again?!" You lament, pushing the Duel Gundam forward to meet them.

You unload everything the Duel has at the Raider, only for it to deflect all of your shots and missiles by spinning its flail. A GuAIZ detonates in the distance, courtesy of the Forbidden Gundam, and as you weigh your options, you spot something that makes your blood run cold.

"Those are..." You zoom in, confirming your worst fears, "...nuclear missiles!"

You immediately disengage from the Raider and Forbidden, jetting toward the Blue Cosmos Peacemaker force.

"Shoot down those nuclear missiles! Don't let a single one of them hit the PLANTs!" You yell over every ZAFT frequency you have clearance for.

"No way!" The pilot of the Calamity retorts over an open frequency as he shoots down a pair of GINNs moving to intercept the Peacemaker force.

"Not a chance, they're too pretty." The pilot of the Forbidden croons as he destroys a pair of GuAIZs with its curving beam cannon.

With all of the ZAFT mobile suits you managed to rally having been destroyed, you are not enough to stop the Peacemaker force.

As the Moebius mobile armors of the Peacemaker force deploy their nuclear missiles, you begin to lose hope.

Suddenly, a massive salvo of beams, railgun slugs, and missiles destroys every nuclear missile that was inbound to the PLANTs. You turn to see the Freedom and Justice with massive external attachments zoom by.

"Athrun? And..." You turn to see a massive fleet of Federation, Zeon, Britannian, and N.U.N.S. ships approach, spearheaded by ships of the Solar Vanguard.

You are Mira Ayana, and you sincerely hope you won't have to resort to violence to stop the current battle, but you seriously doubt it.

"Soldiers of Blue Cosmos! Cease your attack at once! Are you truly aware of the consequences of what you're about to do?" Lacus Clyne broadcasts over an open frequency.

"This is Admiral Johnson of the New United Nations Spacey! All ZAFT and Blue Cosmos combatants, cease hostilities at once, or we will be forced to intervene with force!" Admiral Johnson demands.

Nobody from either side bothers to respond.

"So much for that..." You lament.

"We all knew neither of them were going to back down from words alone." Lucia says.

"Well, looks like we're going to be in the thick of it." You say as you boost the Rose forward.

"Spread out the fleet! I doubt we'll be able to end the battle quickly, and I'd rather not be surprised by whatever that massive object in the shadow of Jachin Due is!" Admiral Johnson commands.

You immediately hack off the limbs of a CGUE after it fires on the Rose before jetting off further into the battlefield.

"Gah! Quit it with the nukes already!" Dearka says as he fires the Buster's combined anti-armor shotgun at a trio of launched nuclear missiles.

"Whoever's volunteered to pilot one of those Moebius units is either fanatical or just nuts!" Mu gripes as he fires the Aile Strike's beam rifle at more nuclear missiles.

"Focus on preventing any nuclear missiles from hitting the PLANTs!" Amuro orders, the Zeta and ZZ Gundams forming up alongside the Hi-Nu, the Strike Zeta and Fa's support ReZEL following close behind.

The Hi-Nu deploys its Fin Funnels, rapidly destroying Peacemaker Moebius units before they can deploy their nuclear missiles.

"What the hell is Blue Cosmos doing with Aestivalis frames?" Akito Tenkawa balks.

"So that's what they stole during that raid on Nergal's lunar facilities!" Yurika realizes. "Good thing they didn't manage to snag any Gravity Wave Antennae!"

"Small comfort when we still have to fight these things!" Patrick Colasour laments as one of the stripped down Aestivalis frames deflects his beam rounds.

Things rapidly settle into a macabre two-front battle: the first is the main battle line, with Blue Cosmos attempting to push through ZAFT's defense to have a straight shot at the PLANTs, while the other is a narrow corridor of space through which Blue Cosmos sends all of its Peacemaker units to try and hit the PLANTs with nuclear weapons. To defend this corridor, Blue Cosmos has positioned not only its stripped down Aestivalis units, but also many of its Delphinium mobile armors, which they don't hesitate to sacrifice to allow the Peacemaker units or the missiles they launch to traverse that little bit closer to the PLANTs.

Thankfully, between the Freedom and Justice with their METEOR units, and Londo Bell, not a single missile has managed to get through yet. You can't help but wonder if this is sustainable.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a group of Strike Daggers attempting to rush the Rose and overwhelm it with numbers. You simply shrug off their beam rounds with the Rose's barrier systems before destroying them with a combination of the Dark Lance and Energy Whip.

"These people are nuts! Who the hell wants to commit genocide like this?" Kouji laments as he smashes apart a pair of Blue Cosmos Aestivalis frames with Mainkaiser.

"Ask Murata Azreal. I'm sure he'd love to elaborate on his reasons why." Ryoma deadpans as Shin Getter 1 slices a trio of GuAIZ in half with its wrist blades.

And so, the battle rages on, with no end in sight.

Aboard Jachin Due

"Lacus Clyne is doing what? Hmph, very cute. And she's convinced the N.U.N.S. to try and play peacekeeper and mediator? Not a chance." Patrick Zala scoffs.

"Truly, sir?" Rau le Creuset asks with faux-concern only he knows is insincere.

"If the N.U.N.S. truly cared, they would have pressured the Federation to act after the Bloody Valentine." Patrick says. "As it stands, this intervention on their part is too little, too late. We won't allow anyone else to interfere with our dream!"

"As expected, sir." Rau le Creuset says graciously.

"Ezalia! Have our troops clear the blast zone. Time to show our true power!" Patrick orders.

You are Yzak Joule, and you've just received a concerning message from on high:

/// URGENT WARNING //
//// PRIORITY 1 ////
EVACAUATE ALL UNITS FROM
ZONE OF EMISSION
/// CAUTION///
G.E.N.E.S.I.S. : ACTIVATED

"All forces retreat from the zone of emission...GENESIS?" You say in confusion.

You are Mira Ayana, and it's impossible not to notice what just appeared out of seemingly nothing. It certainly explains why ZAFT started retreating unexpectedly.

"We just detected a massive object exiting Mirage Colloid behind Jachin Due!" An N.U.N.S. sensor officer says in alarm.

"That's...what that was?" Murrue says in horror.

"Move the fleet out of that thing's projected field of fire!" Admiral Johnson orders.

"Justice, Freedom, get out of there, they're about to fire GENESIS!" The pilot of the Duel Gundam warns over an open frequency.

"Move, move, move!" You yell, rallying as many friendly forces as you can and leading them away from the predicted blast zone.

ZAFT fires GENESIS

Allied fleet scatter roll
Mass Casualty DC 50
Roll 3d20 + 10 (Advance Recon) + 8 (Tactical Forecaster) + 4 (Side Entry Vector)
11, 18, 1

11 + 18 + 1 + 10 + 8 + 4 = 52

Critical Failures: 1 of 3

Result: Most of the fleet manages to escape the wrath of GENESIS, but the Zeon fleet takes massive losses, having pushed ahead in their zeal to prove their commitment to the new Federation and being unable to pull back in time as a result.

An enormous, hazy beam erupts from GENESIS, engulfing the battlefield. You wince as much of the Zeon fleet goes up in flames from that.

The beam from GENESIS continues onward, smashing through the Blue Cosmos lines and wreaking absolute devastation, the Dominion having barely managed to avoid the beam's area of effect through a last-ditch evasive maneuver.

For a few moments, there's nothing but silence as everyone contemplates the destruction wrought by GENESIS.

"L...Looks like Blue Cosmos is starting to retreat." Lucia says, her voice shaking.

"Wait, is ZAFT still going after them?" Yukari says in horror.

At that moment, Patrick Zala begins broadcasting on an open channel.

"Courageous soldiers of ZAFT! We can no longer allow the use of violence by those arrogant Naturals! They fired nuclear weapons at the PLANTs! This is no longer merely a war, it is a battle of annihilation! We can no longer forgive those Naturals, who think nothing of such terrible acts! This marks a-"

You cut off Patrick's broadcast out of disgust.

"Pot, meet kettle." You say, looking over the devastation of GENESIS.

"Stop! Don't go after those who have no more intent to fight!" Kira yells, ejecting from his METEOR and dismembering GINNs and GuAIZs attacking retreating Strike Daggers.

Athrun huffs before firing the Justice's Fortis beam cannons and his METEOR's secondary beam cannons, disarming or dismembering additional ZAFT mobile suits.

"Athrun, Kira, pull back! We've just received orders to regroup with the rest of the fleet!" You say.

A group of Variable Fighters covers Athrun and Kira as they pull back to the Eternal.

"Talk to me, people! How does GENESIS work, and what can we do to stop it?" Admiral Johnson asks in a joint call between the Solar Vanguard ship captains and the commanders of the other fleets.

"Well, I can definitely answer that first question." Erica Simmons says from aboard the Kusanagi.

A technical diagram pops up.

"Based on available sensor data, the beam appears to be composed of gamma rays. My best guess is that the gamma rays were generated by a nuclear explosion at the source within GENESIS, and then focused immediately into a coherent beam. Think of it as a massive laser composed entirely of gamma rays. If that thing were to be fired at Earth, the extreme radiant energy would burn the entire surface of the planet to a crisp, wiping out all life." Erica explains.

"That's worse than what Bodolzar's fleet would have done to Earth if they'd been completely unopposed during Space War One!" Admiral Johnson exclaims in horror.

Diana... you clutch your hand to your chest.

"Do you think they'd really fire it? At Earth?" Murrue asks quietly.

Waltfeld sighs.

"Essentially, the purpose of long-distance weapons of mass destruction is their effectiveness as a deterrent. However, in this case, they've already been used. Both nuclear weapons and...that." He says.

"So you're saying all bets are off at this point." Bright says.

"Unfortunately so. It's like the first time I killed another person in battle. I was told it'd get easier, and it did. To Patrick Zala and Murata Azrael, it's going to be the simplest decision for them." Waltfeld explains.

"How...how horrible! We have to stop them both from using such horrible things!" Yurika exclaims.

"I've called in for more reinforcements, but it'll take a hot minute for them to get here, considering what we already mustered was meant to end this." The Federation Admiral says.

"Ugh...it looks like ZAFT learned nothing from witnessing the One Year War and Gryps Conflict." The Zeon Admiral laments.

"There's nothing else we can do but try to end this as quickly as possible." The Katharon commander says.

"Well said. As for your other question, Admiral Johnson, I believe there is a weakness in GENESIS that we can exploit." Erica says. "It doesn't appear that ZAFT can fire it continuously, or they would have simply annihilated what's left of the Blue Cosmos fleet with a second shot after the first. Long range sensors have detected a superheated object in front of GENESIS that ZAFT is moving out of the way. I believe that to be some kind of focusing or mirror array that's essential for GENESIS to function. If we can destroy the next mirror array before ZAFT can put it into place, we can at least delay GENESIS' next shot."

"Yeah, we just have to fight past the entirety of Jachin Due's defense force to do that. While Blue Cosmos is also probably shooting at us." The Federation Admiral scoffs.

"We have another problem." Samsara says, a live video feed of her suddenly appearing.

"Ms. Ivy, to what do we owe the pleasure?" Sumeragi asks.

"I've detected intermittent Dimensional Distortions all across the battlefield. The Council's going to arrive in force." Samsara says.

"Damn rabble-rousers from the Council! Why the hell are they sticking their nose in this anyway!?" The Britannian Admiral exclaims.

"It's simple, really: they want to hijack GENESIS for themselves." Samsara states simply.

"Shit, if they did that, they could hold the entire Earth Sphere hostage." The Federation Admiral blanches.

"What do we do? The fleet is scattered from having to avoid the first shot from GENESIS. Rallying back into a coherent formation will take time we likely don't have." The Katharon commander points out.

"Hm...we're not entirely without options..." Lelouch points out.

A massive Council force is expected to appear next turn. Samsara says they will likely have ships in addition to the usual suspects.

Your own reinforcements are not likely to arrive until after the Council has made their appearance.

How do you delay GENESIS' next shot?

[ ] Celestial Being blitz
-The Ptolemios II will likely be able to evade Jachin Due's defense force through use of Trans-Am, and it alongside Celestial Being's Gundams can easily destroy the next mirror array just as it is being put into place.
-Will likely strand Celestial Being behind the Jachin Due defense line; they'll have to fend for themselves until the main force breaks through.

[ ] N.U.N.S. flyby
-Send a wing of Variable Fighters armed with Reaction Warheads to destroy the next mirror array just as it is being put into place.
-Use of Reaction Warheads will likely enrage Patrick Zala and cause him to turn his attention to the allied fleet.
-Very likely going to be a suicide mission for the Variable Fighters involved.

[ ] Super Robot charge
-Send every deployed Super Robot except the Rose to destroy the next mirror array just as it is being put into place.
-Will require commitment of ALL FIVE deployed Super Robots-anything less will result in failure.
-The Super Robots will have to fend for themselves behind Jachin Due's defense line afterward.

[ ] Write-in
-Fleet actions are possible, but must fight through Jachin Due first, with all of the casualties and time commitment that implies.
-Anything committed to this action will have to fend for themselves alongside whatever else is brought along afterward until the main force breaks through.

Which forces redeploy where to deal with what on the battlefield?

Friendly GROUPS are delineated as above in force composition. The Solar Vanguard group may be further split into Londo Bell (the Ra Cailum, all of the UC Gundam protagonists, and some of the Jegans, Stark Jegans, and Nemos), the Three Ships Allliance (Archangel, Eternal, Kusanagi, and all Gundam SEED characters and MS) and the Federation Fleet (all Federation ships, remaining UC Gundam mobile suits, and all the Leos). The Zeon fleet has merged with the Federation Fleet due to losses incurred from GENESIS. Everyone else is in the general Solar Vanguard group.

So, in total, available friendly groups are:

Solar Vanguard Group (can be used as one large group or as the divisions below indicate)
Can be subdivided into:
-General Solar Vanguard Group
-Londo Bell
-Three Ships Alliance
-Federation Fleet

N.U.N.S. fleet
Katharon battlegroup
Britannian Fleet

[ ] Select AT LEAST ONE friendly group to intervene in the main battle between Blue Cosmos and ZAFT

[ ] Select AT LEAST ONE friendly group to intercept the nuclear missiles Blue Cosmos is going to launch

[ ] Select ANY NUMBER of friendly groups to hang back and prepare for the appearance of the Council

A/N: I realized that drawing out the lead-up to the first firing of GENESIS would just be padding after re-watching this part of Gundam SEED considering that Patrick fires it almost immediately after the protagonists intervene, so the meat of this will everything after. Please vote, discuss, and critique!

Hmm... I'm tempted to send in the Super Robots. Sends the NUNs after the Nukes... And... Londo bell to deal with Blue Cosmos and ZAFT?

With the others hanging back for the moment?

I wonder if the mirror array is really our only choice in delaying GENESIS or if we can attempt to do something else here...

@theguynamedwafer, I'm not sure if the idea is feasable, but would it be possible to hack GENESIS and render it unable to fire for some time with something like a System Seizure (if Nadesico can actually do that)?

EDIT: Had another idea of questionable worth, but, depending on how grouped up the Peacemaker Moebius are, a few Reaction Warheads could cause a chain reaction and do major damage to Blue Cosmos forces, so that could also be considered if QM believes the idea is workable.

In regards to hacking, no. Not unless you parked the Nadesico within spitting distance of GENESIS to get past all of the Minovsky and N-Jammer interference, and that obviously comes with its own problems, namely that you'll be exposing the Nadesico and whatever you put as its escort to the entirety of the Jachin Due defense force. And even if you did, ZAFT's cybersecurity is really good, combined with the fact that most of GENESIS' essential systems are airgapped, which means the DC to hack would be very, very high.

You can use reaction warheads against the Blue Cosmos Peacemaker squads, but that's liable to either piss of Patrick Zala at all of the WMDs being thrown around and cause him to do something rash, or more likely piss off Murata Azrael and cause him to start targeting the allied fleet with nuclear missiles in addition to lobbing them at the PLANTs. Both are highly undesirable outcomes.

Throwing a plan into the mix. Opinions are welcome. No voting until I have a name for the plan and until I'm sure group assignment is fine.

Group assignments seems fine, although I was expecting more division of labor between the Solar Vanguard group. It should be fine though.

I knew it was fine in the sense that it's not doing anything forbidden. What I meant to say about the assignment being fine was waiting to see if other people were willing to chime in some more about how to split our forces and determine how to best split our forces (much as the thread doesn't seem all that keen on discussing things). I'll wait some more while I ponder the assignment myself, too see if someone does speak up.
