Throwing a plan into the mix. Opinions are welcome. No voting until I have a name for the plan and until I'm sure group assignment is fine.
Personally I feel like CB would be better to be sent into the fray since they are originally designed for missions meant to anhilate large numbers of mooks. In addition I feel like it would be better to use the Super Robots on the Council because we know from In Universe dialogue and statwise that the Council is both weak to Super Robots and has an obsession with them that borders on the idiotic so by putting the Super Robots on council duty we might delay whatever nasty suprises they have from being used against everyone. I feel like the Brittanian battle groups would be more useful in the main battle since SEED ships are very beam heavy and Brittanian ships might fare better due to having Blaze Luminous shielding systems

"If the N.U.N.S. truly cared, they would have pressured the Federation to act after the Bloody Valentine." Patrick says. "As it stands, this intervention on their part is too little, too late. We won't allow anyone else to interfere with our dream!"
I mean to be a bit cynical but Ptrick is right since this is a SRW where the UC stuff happened before. Like the Antartic Treaty is a thing and even when Zeon did multiple colony drops the EFF never nuked them in response. But when ZAFT is diplomatically agitating for independence they immediately get a nuke to the face.

I'm leery of sending CB to stall GENESIS, since they need to use Trans-AM to be able to pierce the defensive line. Once the 2 rounds of Trans-AM run out, the CB Gundams and the Ptolemaios II will be vulnerable against the ZAFT forces unless we rush hard enough to breakthrough the defensive line before Trans-AM runs out, which I doubt is feasable. The Super Robots would have an easier time fighting off the ZAFT forces, as their ways of getting stronger aren't something that is only temporarily active.

What if we gave them a screening force so they wouldn't have to use Trans-AM like Zeon or the Brittanians since they are already close or Londo Bell?

Not sure how workable the idea is until QM provides an answer regarding how feasable would it be for CB to breakthrough the defensive line and go for the replacement mirror without using Trans-AM.

Worked some more on the plan, opinions still welcome. While I have a name for the plan, I'd like to wait some more on voting on it to see the thread's opinion on the plan.

EDIT: Swapped around assignments to account for QM's latest clarifications.

Yeah, tbh this battle is quite tricky, since well, we cannot piss off enough of one of the genocidal maniacs without getting consequences.

Especially when said maniacs have weapons of mass destruction.

There is also the loose end of Rau Le Creuset who is still nowhere to be seen.

There is also some persons of importance we need to be careful off.

Like Murata ship captain rather sooner than later is gonna question enough that she gets shot.

There is also that we need to make sure Mu survives protecting the ship to avoid another one of destiny plots.

Been trying to think of some methods, but most of them is mostly hafl assing some of the given options, so I am fine with the plan at the moment.

Going to veto holding the Three Ships Alliance in reserve for the Council. They're the main characters of Gundam SEED, and for them to not actively partake in the Gundam SEED finale at this point seems...wildly out of character.

As for providing CB with help to get past Jachin Due, you would have to commit one entire group to help them break through without Trans-Am. And whichever group you send WILL take massive casualties.

I'm heading to bed soon. I'll see what the thread thinks about using one of our groups as sacrifice for getting CB through the defensive line so that they can destroy the replacement mirror without having to blow Trans-AM is preferable over using the Super Robots we have and other opinions on force assignment.

Aboard Jachin Due

Patrick Zala and Rau Le Creuset look over the real-time battlefield display.

"How is the replacement of the mirror block coming along?" Patrick Zala asks a subordinate.

"The engineers say they should be done in another hour, sir." The subordinate responds.

"Tell them to hurry up and get it done quicker." Patrick Zala says in an irritated tone before turning to address Rau. "What's the status of the Blue Cosmos forces?"

"No major movements yet, sir." Rau reports.

"Hmph. So they're still going to try for a big push without returning to their Lunar Base." Patrick Zala notes.

"I'm sure they're desperate after seeing such an awesome display of power. I imagine they're waiting for supplies and reinforcements. Should we attack them in the meantime?" Rau asks.

"No need for that. After we fire the second shot, it'll be over for them." Patrick Zala scoffs. "We've won."

"Then will you fire GENESIS at Earth?" Rau asks.

"If they continue to attack after we destroy their Lunar Base, yes." Patrick Zala says without any hesitation.

"I can't imagine that the Solar Vanguard and the Federation will stay quiet during all of this." Rau says with concern. "They were quick to avoid the worst of GENESIS' first shot."

"Bah. They can try to play peacekeeper all they want. They're not going to be able to stop the rise of the Coordinator's world, even if we have to fight the N.U.N.S. to do it. What are they up to, anyway?" Patrick Zala asks.

"We haven't been able to get close enough to do more thorough reconnaissance. We can only tell that they're holding some part of their forces in reserve, likely in anticipation of something happening." Rau says. "Could it be perhaps related to the odd dimensional readings Sextilis City reported detecting earlier?"

"Hm. Let those bastards from the Council of the Veil come if they like. I won't agree to be their pawn even if they reduce a PLANT to atoms as a show of force." Patrick Zala declares.

"Well said, sir. From what I've heard, the Council is even more despicable than Blue Cosmos, if such a thing is even possible." Rau says sincerely.

"Ha! That's a high bar to clear, but if you put stock in something like that, Creuset, I'll have to give it some weight." Patrick says.

As Yzak Joule wanders the halls of Jachin Due to clear his head, he spots his mother at the other end.

"Mother?" Yzak says in confusion.

"Yzak!" Ezalia says in joy as she walks over.

"Have you been here long?" Yzak asks.

"Yes, given the severity of the situation. The second shot from GENESIS will be fired in a short while. After that, this long war will finally come to an end, and the future will be ours." Ezalia smiles.

Yzak recalls his conversation with Dearka aboard Mendel.

"Uh, what will the second target of-"

Yzak is interrupted by his Ezalia moving in to embrace her son.

"I'm sure you must be exhausted from fighting so many battles in so short a time. I'll make sure your team is stationed further back." Ezalia says before kissing Yzak on the cheek. "You will have many more duties and responsibilities after this is over."

"Mrs. Joule." One of Ezalia's subordinates says.

Ezalia nods to him before giving Yzak another hug, and then departing down the hall.

Aboard the Eternal

As the allied fleet prepares to go into the imminent battle, Kira, Athrun, and Cagalli prepare to leave the bridge when Lacus grabs Kira by the arm. Kira nods at Athrun and Cagalli to go ahead. Athrun returns Kira's nod before closing the door to the bridge.

"Please, take this." Lacus says, handing Kira her mother's ring.

"Wait, this is-" Kira realizes before looking back at Lacus.

"Wait, you're going back out there?!" Athrun says in shock upon realizing what Cagalli just told him.

"What? You and Kira take crazy risks all the time in battle! Besides, it's not like I'm a bad with mobile suits, I'm way better than any of the Astray pilots!" Cagalli says.

"That's not the point! I-" Athrun is cut off.

"You think I don't want to protect you? Besides, I can't let my little brother die either!" Cagalli declares.

"Little brother?" Athrun asks with a raised eyebrow, Cagalli's statement having caught him off guard. "Not your big brother?"

"No way! He'd definitely the little brother!" Cagalli huffs.

Athrun can't help but chuckle before hugging Cagalli.

"I'm lucky to have met you. I'll protect you." Athrun says warmly before kissing Cagalli.

Cagalli returns the kiss as she puts her arms around Athrun.

As Kira leaves the bridge of the Eternal, Lacus follows.

"Kira!" Lacus says. "Please, come back to me."

Kira turns back and hugs Lacus before kissing her on the cheek.

"You be careful to, Lacus." Kira says before heading back toward the hangar.

"Kira!" Lacus says, before clasping hands together and muttering, "I love you..."

You are Mira Ayana, and as you deploy in the Rose, you give an encouraging wave to the departing Gunbuster, Mazinkaiser, Shin Getter Robo, Dancouga, and Dancouga Nova.

"Good luck in there guys." You say.

"Please, be careful." Yukari says quietly.

"Hey, it's us! ZAFT better not think they'll have it easy just cause they've got numbers on their side." Ryoma boasts.

"Maybe so, but we shouldn't get complacent." Shinobu says.

"Eh, we're used to fighting while outnumbered. Just not on...this scale." Aoi admits.

"That's why we've got each other's backs, right?" Kouji says.

"Don't do anything stupid, Kouji. If you die, I'm pretty sure Sayaka'll find a way to summon your ghost back just to yell at you." Noriko cracks.

"Ha, I better not die then! Well, we're off!" Kouji gives you a wave with Mazinkaiser before setting off toward GENESIS' mirror block with the rest of the group.

"Think they'll be able to destroy the mirror block before they can fire GENESIS' next shot?" Lucia asks.

"Oh they'll DEFINITELY be able to do that. It's not getting shot to pieces by ZAFT afterward that's going to be the hard part." Nina says.

"We can only trust that they'll be able to stay alive long enough for us to get to them." You say.

"And now for the hard part: waiting for the Council to show up." Nina grouses.

"Is it too much to ask for them just screw off?" Lucia wonders.

You settle the Rose atop the Nadesico while much of the Solar Vanguard group waits in reserve for the Council to show up.

Aboard Jachin Due, Patrick Zala smirks as he is informed that the new mirror block is about to be put into position.

"We win. Tell the troops in Area 7 to hold out a little longer. Then we can show these damn Naturals-"

"New contacts detected, closing fast! There's five of them! All of them are positive matches for Solar Vanguard Super Robots!" A sensor technician reports.

"WHAT!?" Patrick Zala bellows in fury.

A live camera feed of the incoming Super Robots pops up on screen. Gunbuster, Mazinkaiser, Shin Getter 2, Dancouga, and Dancouga Nova rocket forward, ignoring most of the ZAFT mobile suits attempting to intercept them.

"STOP THEM!" Patrick Zala yells. "Their target is obviously the mirror block!"

Unfortunately, there's not much ZAFT can do to stop the Super Robots from reaching their target, as they're moving too quickly to target with heavy munitions, and they're able to shrug off anything that can hit them while going at full speed.

In short order the five Super Robots reach the new mirror block and unleash a multi-colored barrage of beams, rapidly reducing the most essential portions of the mirror block to slag.

Patrick Zala buries his face in his hand before taking a deep breath.

"Drive those Super Robots away from GENESIS, and put the next mirror block into position! If we can destroy or capture them, so much the better, but we must be able to fire GENESIS!" He orders.

"Oh dear, I suppose I should go out as well, then." Rau Le Creuset says.

"Yes. And, Le Creuset? I won't tolerate any more of your blunders. The least you can do for not destroying the Eternal is making sure they can't attack the PLANTs with it." Patrick Zala says.

"Even if that means killing Athrun?" Rau asks.

"Of course!" Patrick Zala says with no hesitation.

Rau takes a moment to shake off his genuine surprise before bowing graciously.

"Very well, then." He says before turning and leaving the command center.

BATTLE

Super Robot Hold Out-Roll 6d10 against total armor DC of all five Super Robots, severity of damage depends on how much the roll is beaten by. Defensive spirit commands may be used in emergencies. Add 2d10 to the ZAFT roll every round until you break through to Jachin Due with the main force.

Group Armor DC 49 = 45 (Total Armor) + 4 (Gunbuster's Inertial Canceller)

Roll 6d10

6, 1, 5, 1, 5, 1
19

Result: No damage to friendly Super Robots this round.

You are Murrue Ramius, and you are determined to stop Blue Cosmos in this battle, one way or another.

"Deploy anti-beam depth charges! Aim Gottfrieds and Valiants! Target: Blue Cosmos Agamemnon-class ship Doolittle!" You order.

As you draw closer to your target, you give the order.

"Fire!"

The Archangel fires its beam cannons at the same the Dominion crosses into your axis of fire and fires its own Gottfrieds at you.

Damn it, Natarle! You think to yourself as the ship shakes.

"We've lost the starboard Gottfried!" Sai reports.

You take a look at the Dominion and note with grim satisfaction that your own shot managed to graze it, evident by the scorch marks and warped metal present on the hull.

"Keep firing with the remaining Gottfried, and ready the Helldarts for interceptive fire!" You order.

Your decision turns out to be the right one, as Natarle immediately fires a salvo of Sledgehammers at you, which are intercepted by a barrage of Helldarts and point defense fire.

Natarle...is it too late for you to see sense? You lament to yourself as you continue to duel the Dominion.

"Found you, Creuset!" Mu la Flaga yells as he charges at the Providence Gundam with the Strike.

"Ah...Mu la Flaga, my nemesis! We end things today!" Rau Le Creuset yells back.

"Is this what you were hoping for, you bastard?!" Mu asks as he fires at the Providence with the Aile Strike's beam rifle.

Rau lazily dodges Mu's shots before deploying the Providence's DRAGOONs.

"Not me! This is what the people dreamed of! What they hoped for! What they did!" Rau rants.

"Gah!" Mu flinches as his beam rifle is destroyed.

"To be stronger than others, to go farther than others, to go higher than others!" Rau continues.

"Get real!" Mu retorts, drawing the Strike's beam saber before charging forward.

"People compete, get jealous, hate each other, and end up eating away at one another!" Rau rants as he parries Mu's strike with a beam blade embedded in the Providence's shield.

"All of this is a result of your twisted logic! I won't let you make things worse!" Mu declares.

"You're too late, Mu! I am a result of this! That's why I know, that humanity will wipe itself out, eaten away by the darkness it's brought upon itself! Now, perish!" Rau yells as he sends all of his DRAGOONs at the Strike.

"Damn it!" Mu yells.

Mu is able to dodge the first salvo of beams Rau's DRAGOONs fire, but there are too many coming from literally every possible direction to dodge them all, and he ends up losing his Gundam's right arm and left leg to the seemingly endless barrage.

With his cockpit smoking, Mu has no choice but to retreat.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! YES! YES! FLEE BEFORE ME, MU LA FLAGA!" Rau laughs.

"Damn it, keep intercepting the nuclear missiles!" Bright Noa orders as Londo Bell and the N.U.N.S. fleet shoot down Blue Cosmos Peacemaker units and the nuclear warheads they manage to launch.

"This is Fern 3, Blue Cosmos Gundams are-aaarrrrrgh!" A Stark Jegan pilot cries out as his machine is destroyed.

"Drive them off, I don't care how you do it so long as we don't compromise our ability to intercept the nuclear missiles!" Bright orders.

"We're on it!" Amuro says as the Hi-Nu and Zeta Gundams break off, accompanied by a squad of VF-22s.

Amuro deploys the Hi-Nu's fin funnels, forcing the Raider to back off and join the wider battle. Kamille fires a pair of grenades at the Forbidden, distracting the pilot with the explosions before closing in and attempting to run a beam saber through the cockpit. The pilot of the Forbidden opts to retreat rather than duel the Zeta Gundam in close combat. Meanwhile, the VF-22s unleash a barrage of bullets and missiles at the Calamity, forcing it to back away into the wider battle rather than risk exhausting its energy and ammunition enduring the repeated salvos.

Bright lets out a sigh of relief as the N.U.N.S. Zentraedi ships destroy a salvo of nuclear missiles with a barrage of beam fire, the detonating fireballs illuminating the void of space.

"How much longer can they even keep this up? They're ordering countless men and women to die!" Banagher laments as the Unicorn Gundam slashes a Blue Cosmos Aestivalis in half.

"We can't let a single missile hit the PLANTs! If that happens, peace with ZAFT and the PLANTs will become impossible!" Admiral Johnson says.

You grit your teeth as the Ra Cailum fires a salvo of missiles at a group of Peacemaker Moebius units, causing yet another detonation of nuclear fire.

You are Kira Yamato, and as you disable both ZAFT and Blue Cosmos mobile suits, you receive and unwelcome bit of news from one of the Britannian pilots.

"The Blue Cosmos Gundams have been driven towards us by Londo Bell! They're out for blood!" A Gareth pilot alerts you.

"Incoming!" Cagalli yells as she dodges a bazooka shell from the Calamity.

"You guys again?!" The pilot of the Forbidden yells over an open channel.

"Tch! Looks like we'll have to deal with this, Kira!" Athrun says.

"Yeah. Cagalli, Dearka, stay close to us!" You say.

"Got it!" Dearka says, the Buster moving into formation alongside you.

You fire the METEOR's primary beam cannons at the Forbidden, which it deflects with its beam deflectors.

"ATTACK!" The pilot of the Raider bellows as he hurls his Gundam's mace at you, which you dodge easily.

"Stop this!" You yell at the Blue Cosmos Gundam pilots in a vain attempt to get them to see reason.

As you and Cagalli attempt to box in the Calamity, a haze of green and white in the corner of your eye gets your attention.

"Dimensional Distortions detected! All forces prepare for Council incursion!" The Federation Admiral says.

The entire battle enters a momentary lull as all present turn to gawk at the emergence of Council forces.

Instead of a horde of mobile weapons and Super Robots, the first thing to emerge from the Dimensional Distortions are ships. You rapidly spot three distinct models of Council ship. One is a relatively small thing, about the same length as the Drake-class escort Blue Cosmos favors, but wider, which gives the ship a distinctly blocky, rectangular silhouette. It doesn't appear to be heavily armed, but judging by the sheer number of them, it appears the Council typically deploys them en masse. The second distinct model of ship deployed by the Council looks like a cross between a majestic ship from the Age of Sail (sans sail, obviously, and also lacking the elongated prow), and...the first thing that comes to mind is an old pre-UE space shuttle, only supersized. It's about as large as the Ra Cailum, and bristling with weapons. The third class of ship is the largest, twice the length of the General Revil, and the most ostentatious in design: they look like they're meant to be modeled after some kind of aquatic life form, with curving hulls, 'majestic' protrusions, and jutting structures atop the hull that don't seem to serve any purpose. There aren't as many visible weapons, but numerous seams an cracks suggest hidden firing ports all over.

As more ships pop in, Council mobile weapons and Super Robots also start appearing alongside the ships, in addition what the ships themselves deploy. You note that a large number of them are heading straight for Jachin Due.

Unlike many other times, no one from the Council broadcasts any threats or demands over an open frequency. That's...oddly unsettling.

Rau Le Creuset is heading toward friendly lines. Who holds him at bay for the moment?

[ ] Pick between ONE and FIVE available named characters except Kira, Athrun, Dearka, Cagalli, and Mu. The Super Robots are also disallowed due to being tied up by ZAFT. Ships are also not allowed for this option.

With the Council attacking everyone else, do you start trying to break through to Jachin Due to reinforce the Super Robots sent there?

[ ] Yes
-Please specify at least ONE group to try and break through

[ ] No

Rau Le Creuset is going to get philosophical to try and get under your skin. How do you respond?

[ ] Write-in
-Rebuttal must be in character for whoever is picked to hold off Rau.

A/N: Remind me to not make the combined Jeeg/Dancouga Nova/Dragonar finale this complex. Or it might already be too late for that given what's involved. Anyway, please vote, discuss, and critique!

Hmmm...

As far as pilots who can hold off Rau Le Creseut and push back against his nihilism goes, I'm thinking our best bet is either someone like Setsuna, who can use their compassion/mind-linking mech abilities to acknowledge/address Rau's pain and despair...

...or someone with a mentality closer to that of the Getter Team* –– i.e., too bloody-minded or antisocial to give a s**t about Rau's sophomoric philosophizing.

*Alas, the Getter Team's currently tied up smashing Genesis Mirrors.

No, our best rebuttal against Le Creuset is to not only paint his cause as hopeless (after, he can't destroy the Council, so even if he wipes out all life, the Council just repopulates the galaxy and he still loses in the end), but to insinuate that he's just like Al da Flaga (in that all his pretentions regarding his plan as being something that is inevitable are wrong and this his core motivation for it all is spite, anger that the world would dare outlive him and that if he doesn't get to enjoy life, then everyone else is just as unworthy of enjoying life). For added punch, vaguely reference the Destiny Plan and how Durandal got inspired to carry out the plan due to Le Creuset proving his philosophy right ("It's no wonder Durandal thought the Destiny Plan was workable, when you yourself are the biggest proof towards its validity, given that for all of your rejections of being like Al da Flaga, you wound up just like him. Truly, you are a perfect copy of Al da Flaga.")

Now to see if what I want to write can be considered IC for at least a few characters.
