[X] Regretfully Goodbye, you cannot take the risk
We should be thinking about what our next steps should be with the Peabody situation here too. Remember that this is a side quest for a side quest. We came here to rescue some wizards that we've lightly(?) traumatized, and went for the elder vamp because screw the red court.
If we reincarnate however much land Mallko's body covers as hellbound territory and open a portal to the FCF are we going to need to park an army here tonight? Is the council going to blow a gasket?
If Magog charges the door sure, but Nicodemus has been doing this for two thousand years. He engineered the Black Death, which killed like ~15% of the human population by the time it was finally done.
When Harry, Charity, Murphy, and Thomas go to rescue Molly from Arctis Tor they just walked in because the Denarians had raided that part of the city.
I respect their competence and you should too.
It seems to me that this position that we can definitely handle all of this by default assumes our enemies are unmotivated, unimaginative idiots.
If Nicodemus wants in because he's got a plot and wants us distracted, or perhaps thinks he can harvest something useful from us, then I expect him to pack stupid levels of bullshit into whatever he does. Even if the ultimate aim fails he could still cause significant damage.
I'd bet on the FCF being able to hold that gate against 98% of all supernatural powers. The problem is that we're screwing with the last 2% and those guys are nuts.
We'll put up a set of five consecutive doors of imperishable brass; each set with five gems containing handcrafted demon gods, quenched in blessings from another age of the world, and etched with curses never seen on earth. Maybe patrol it with cybernetic demons wielding technosorcery marrying the unspeakable horrors of industrialized warfare with the reality bending wonders of magic in ways people didn't know they should've been afraid of.
Scare the locals right off and everything.
Then some shithead will spend 6 months designing an unmaking ritual that opens a portal directly to the Devil's throne room to beg for a cup of primeval annihilation or something and knock the whole thing over.
I'm not going to lie, this scenario would be totally sick.I'd bet on the FCF being able to hold that gate against 98% of all supernatural powers. The problem is that we're screwing with the last 2% and those guys are nuts.

Killing them as soon as they enter the dimension which respawns anyone who dies in it doesn't strike me as terribly useful. If it's a physical portal that is blocked by a heavy enchanted door on the Courtside, with the door being inside a WMD testsite bunker with a balefire bomb ready to go off, no they don't. Not really.
You forgot the open bracket on your vote.X] You are saving an ancient Peruvian God today and that's final, you'll find some way to guard the gate or sever it later
Fighting Fit tries saving the god without the portal.I would love to save that god really I would but the risks simply outweigh the potential benefits.
I'd prefer a cool victory to a cool defeat all things considered.I'm not going to lie, this scenario would be totally sick.
If this happens: a pitched battle where we unleash the full power of our billion-strong army, all the surprises and superweapons an E5 Infernal can come up with, plus our allies and favors and in return our enemies throw everything and the kitchen sink at us...
I would be okay with Molly dying in this, this would be a worthy ending for an Exalted and would create big shoes for the one who inherits our crown to fill and in the end, most importantly...
It would be totally cool to read.
That should be the most important thing in everyone's consideration: is this direction of the story cool to read? For me it is.
The point isn't that he'll pop down here immediately, it's that as we push the world it's going to push back. Nicodemus isn't stupid, our position on his existence is clear and the potential leverage we offer to his cause if exploited properly is obvious. It doesn't assume that our enemies are unimaginative or stupid it just assumes that we're not the center of their fucking lives. Nicodemus has plans within plans and his 2,000 years old if he's not on a scheme right now I'd eat my hat you think he's going to just stop what he's doing oh shit I better nip on down to South America and call in a bunch of favors that might help me against anyone else that I've made an enemy of in my fucking long ass life to Siege this portal that I might not actually be able to cross due to the Arcane rules of how the fuck my coin works.
Nicodemus personally doing anything sounds retarded as it'd be practically worse than storming Arctis tor for a fight. We literally have more standing soldiers than any army in the world and magic shit to equip all of them.We know it probably can be fixed, but have no idea how to start. It's functionally indefinite and there's no point in treating it otherwise.
My point with the linear sorcerer thing was that your comment about Prima Metallum didn't really move the needle. I don't think physically tough material is a significant barrier to the people who matter regardless of how tough it actually gets. Once you've created a mook filter level obstacle it comes down to other security factors.
Nicodemus is not going to be stopped by a thick door of all things if he wants to go somewhere.
As to who would do it? Someone looking to screw us over while we're sticking out nose into their business.
There is no such thing as foolproof.
It's an indefinite feature we'd plan to at some point research how to undo.
We're functionally talking about getting a tattoo with the intention of inventing laser tattoo removal at some point down the line.
Perhaps calling it permanent doesn't properly encapsulate that, but the implication of the situation is clearly that this will not be a simple clean up job. There's no reason to believe that it'll take 6 months over 6 years, and in any case our long term enemies are highly likely to have plenty of time to take a run at it when it suits them.
My point with hellfire is that there are actually some crazy forces out there and I think that it's unwise to assume that we know everyone's limits when we've mostly just scratched the surface of the high end.
As far as I see it Molly's hell planet seems like it should be able to handle most attention because it's an entire world too and has a lot going for it. The problem is that the opposition which will most want to exploit this opening are the ones who break the normal scale over their knees.
If the red king wants to march into hell I'd throw a welcoming parade for his execution, but nemesis literally exists to get around barred gates.
Banking on the Denarians not to cheat isn't a great idea either. Especially if they just fuck things up by coming up with some magical bullshit we didn't think of to blow the door down for someone else as an example.
On FPoR - it's basically BSM but with skill sets. Maxing it out is just a matter of doing three rolls in the same set as the skill you want to use. IC that's basically just leaning into the themes of the city Molly wants to mantle so it's not any weirder to deliberately exploit than bringing water for BSM instead of only using it while in the sea.
If we're rolling occult for targeting warm up with some considerations on the magical impact of what we're about to do, or an academics roll to remember the details of the area.
Okay this comes around to the when are they going to abandon the plans they do have already going to nip on down to South America. When are they going to learn there's a portal in South America because Nicodemus isn't a wizard level Talent the only denarian we see that is a wizard level Talent by themselves is Lashiel's second host so there is no sight or using mortal divination and if they use their intellectus they immediately let Uriel use his. So when are they going to learn of this portal in the ass end of South America no Reds are able to tell even their superiors at this point because some of them are just turned into bats and others into near human red things and all of them are still here. So where does this data breach somehow managed to escape back out.I'd prefer a cool victory to a cool defeat all things considered.
The point isn't that he'll pop down here immediately, it's that as we push the world it's going to push back. Nicodemus isn't stupid, our position on his existence is clear and the potential leverage we offer to his cause if exploited properly is obvious.
We're not the center of his life, but he'd be a fool not to be thinking about us as a problem and at some point he's going to notice the three knights of the round table and angry prehistoric volcano god we've picked up to ruin his day.
I think banking on a rule about our ability to keep them applying to their ability to enter the place is unwise. Even our intervention might not be guaranteed because a smart opponent would coordinate strikes to split our attention.
If I was them that's what I'd do; set up "head I win, tails you lose" scenarios where I go for multiple objectives and force us to choose where to commit resources.
To expand the scope to other opponents, we're almost certainly in the top 5 things Nemesis hates about this millennium at minimum. He changed his global game plan because we pissed him off that much. He does have opposition, he still gets shit done. Even when it fails it's still hilariously destructive to the people in the splash zone.
The world doesn't revolve around us, but it also isn't going to give us a free pass. We've made it obvious we support the knights, and they had to invent a new word for what we did to one of the Denarians' senior members. Nemesis wants to start witch hunts again to spite us and other outsiders are clearly concerned about us.
We're firmly on the to-do list.
Imma note we don't actually know nicodemus goals and saying something like it's beat God is kinda incredulous. Beyond you know working for those that rebelled against him being the only real connecting point to that. Like nicodemus it's been pretty clear even if we don't know his goals they aren't just evil for evil sakes he clearly has some mastermind plan he's doing his shit for.Okay this comes around to the when are they going to abandon the plans they do have already going to nip on down to South America. When are they going to learn there's a portal in South America because Nicodemus isn't a wizard level Talent the only denarian we see that is a wizard level Talent by themselves is Lashiel's second host so there is no sight or using mortal divination and if they use their intellectus they immediately let Uriel use his. That's what I was also saying the fog of War goes both ways we don't know what Nicodemus is currently doing in turn Nicodemus is not constantly aware of what we're doing. We've gathered allies even before we ever set ourselves against the denarians we got our favors from winter and summer before we made Tiffany's body. The knights and Embermane look like an obvious continuation of that trend from the outside because they don't know the conversations that were held in literally an underworld that has nothing to do with Christianity or a piece of the Never Never where we literally captured the silver spy so how is he supposed to know those are for him.
Nemesis has had to change his modus operandus but I imagine the course of his tenure he's not been possessing people who already have spirits in their body or know about him and aren't surprised when they get a screening before they can go back home. His whole shit is being an infiltrator and he's not a strong enough one to avoid our crown and he's not enough of a fighter to avoid our blade either. So on top of his limited number of slots and the weird being to see would be trying to possess on top of the fact that we can just screen everyone that comes through the portal before we let them go back there's no way for a vector to even get back into our hell and if we find him we will kill him as we have done every time we've found him.
The denarians To Do List also includes God, all three of the sword angels, Uriel, the white Council if they meet them, every other person they've ever pissed off which you know between Nico and his shenanigans that he's been doing over his lifetime how many powerful Elders do you think he's pissed off of the 10,000 the Reds the blacks the whites has recently fucked his relationship with mab there's a lot of shit that would like to see Archleone overextend in the middle of nowhere and would like to kill him. We are on the list but you know more pressing matters like how can this particular human denarian use their magic to live comfortably while fucking over this random efforts of God probably. I am being serious by the way they can only scrounge together half of the denarians to try and assassinate the archive and you expect me to believe that more or any of them really would come down because one of them was dealt a personal insult.
Yeah that's extremely true it's just the denarians end up boiling down to just Nicodemus because every other denarian we ever see would be immediately killed if they ran up against armed opposition that knew about magic or had magic of their own to the point where Dresden by himself and there is a lot of magical juice there no doubt but he kicks the shit out of one of them and nearly kills Nick on his own.Imma note we don't actually know nicodemus goals and saying something like it's beat God is kinda incredulous. Beyond you know working for those that rebelled against him being the only real connecting point to that. Like nicodemus it's been pretty clear even if we don't know his goals they aren't just evil for evil sakes he clearly has some mastermind plan he's doing his shit for.
Its true. Can you name characters from the sanctuary without looking them up??
Like they don't really matter and won't be a big deal if a few of them get infected. They don't do shit, they have no intiative in anything relavent.
Circles are pretty much unbreakable with enough power invested into them. Like it fan even bind angels if you have enough power.
Not really, we are just ad immune to it from the inside as we are from the outsideUh I don't necessarily care about specific characters from Sanctuary, but I do sure as fuck care that it's Molly's Soul and letting in a Nemesis seems...horrifically unwise in too many ways to count
We purge it then. We control our world and can exrocise anything.
I also prefer victory but like I think than my problem is that I'm getting bored with the quest, because before I agreed with being careful, but I got tired of several updates where we barely did anything and felt like: we say a word, a vote is needed, our enemies have a monologue, another vote, etc.I'd prefer a cool victory to a cool defeat all things considered.
"I... I see and yet I do not for they have plucked out my eyes long ago, my heart knows the truth of your words even while my mind has been made hollow long ago. Child your kindness begets danger, there can be no other way. I can reach across and be safe, a guest, but I... I cannot let go. I am of the land and the land is of me!"
*looks at split vote*A Gateway, he's talking about an actual Gateway to Sanctuary, right here in the middle of Red Court territory, one he doesn't know how to close, though you might be able to in time.
What do you say?

The sorcerer adorns a chamber with ritual implements reflecting the five elements, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the grave, then slowly focuses her Essence into a purifying mandala of absolute reality which splits apart any unnatural joining of matter and spirit.
but I... I cannot let go. I am of the land and the land is of me!"
Disagree.@uju32 I think it won't work because Sapphire's Exorcism is to bring things back to order, he being tied to the earth (which is what gets in our way here) is his natural state as a god with that nature. Our clone broke his bonds but he is not possessed or cursed.
I think the implication is that he's Bane writ large - a god of a place / land. I am fairly sure we cannot exorcise Bane from the apartment we made it in because there's nothing to exorcise / it would be exorcised into the apartment? Still, it's a very interesting thought.Disagree.
He's a god, not a genius loci.
The earth existed before he did, it will exist after he is gone. He's an aftermarket add-on, not a natural part of the earth as created. None of the gods or Great Dragons are.
He's not even god of the earth or anything, he's god of law, and in some stories son of the sun-god.
There's no intrinsic link to this place, just to the Inca people who lived here.
If we can exorcise the demons of unawakened Whampires who was born with it, or a Coin that someone picked up, or a Mantle of a Fae Court Queen, we can almost certainly do the same here.
IMO.
Now I really should go to bed.
The QM can rule at their leisure, but there isnt anything stopping us yanking him out and moving him.
He might not be a wizard, but the Denarians can get some wild cheating going and he has some people built like that going for him. He also has Hell's information network going for him. The simplest part of which is that his partner Anduriel hears everything said in the presence of a shadow unless an appreciable amount of effort is put into blocking him.Okay this comes around to the when are they going to abandon the plans they do have already going to nip on down to South America. No; see Harry and the Erlking. They provide leverage but it's possible to defeat them. It's even possible to be clever about it and deal with the problem by attacking the circle through whatever it isn't protecting itself against.Circles are pretty much unbreakable with enough power invested into them. Like it fan even bind angels if you have enough power.
I don't really feel the same way at all. We've done a lot of stuff to set up crazy stuff to happen in the future and that themselves have been interesting.I also prefer victory but like I think than my problem is that I'm getting bored with the quest, because before I agreed with being careful, but I got tired of several updates where we barely did anything and felt like: we say a word, a vote is needed, our enemies have a monologue, another vote, etc.
Especially since this damn arc seems to be going to spread even more than Vegas, since as mentioned before, we're in the side quest (saving the god) of the side quest (finding Morgan) of the main quest (The Black Council). This is after the Demonreach arc, which was also long and boring (especially the damn birds) and not long after Boston and Vegas.
My excitement has been in the trash for a while now and I just want to blow up an entire country with balefire bombs or something instead of spending five updates in a row just making constantly updated plans.
I honestly think @DragonParadox really got lost in making these huge arcs and doing so many votes for details that could let Molly IC decide.
