We did some sort of training for 2 out of 3 turns and we spoke twice to Otto already. I don't think talking to him again is a priority.

Probably should do some Syrax training next turn.

Rhaenyra was far too trusting of the Maesters in that scene. At least one of them is bound to have blabbed inadvertently (if only into his cups), even if none of them were bought and paid for agents of someone in court.

At some point we should disabuse her of that particular bit of naivete.

The Grand Maester is supposed to be fairly non-political and loyal to the Citadel and the King first and foremost, and Mellos has never given a strong impression of being anyone's lacky, Rhaenyra had no reason to expect any deception.

Roughly a fortnight after your conversation with your father, he announced to the Small Council that he had decided to take a new wife. The room watched eagerly, most of all Lord Corlys Velaryon, who had straightened up, a look of eagerness and satisfaction etched across face. After some hesitation, your father explained that he had been exchanging Ravens with Lady Johanna Westerling and that he had made an offer of marriage which she had just that morning accepted.
Ah my Dornish beauty...you were not long for this world, only a shadow of a possibility, but you shined brightly in all our hearts...

Action crunch is rather heavy though.
That is why I think that we should be fine with training once or twice per year... With so few actions per turn, the ones we take should have a pretty massive effect...

We want to keep at it, but we should avoid mono focus or worrying too much about it...
Studying diplomacy would've perhaps trained her better to suss that out, something to consider for next turn.
Or perhaps intrigue.
I kind of want to study music... It is a good and constructive way of releasing steam, and music and Targaryen go together like peanut butter and jelly... Let's be honest no matter how much of a goblin Daemon is this scene is on the top 3 of HOTD for a reason

There is something deeply funny about Otto's plans being completely derailed by someone who didn't even know he was scheming.
And we didn't do it for any political reason, Rhaenyra simply thought that our father marrying our best friend was too much...

Fine with doing either of these. Both have their benefits.

Though do think we should start talking with other Small Council members. Like Strong or Beesbury. Though talking with Viserys and Otto next turn also has benefits. Then there is Tarly. Should really get him on our side because the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard might get bias now.

We've been flat out told that we won't get actually good at knightly things with that little training and Tarly would very much carry a grudge if we go back on our word like this.

[X] Plan Impressions & Ambitions
-[X] Speak with Johanna Westerling
-[X] Speak with Viserys
-[X] Request a Role in the City Watch
-[X] Train

To be blunt, ignoring the awkwardness of the marriage for Rhaenyra and her unfimiliarity with Westerling traditions that may factor in the wedding to come, she's not really an arrange wedding kind of girl. I've watched from the sides long enough to know that their is a certain need for an eye to decoration and ability to whether a great many whiney and at time drunk guests, without resorting to duels, involved in such a role. It would be best to do something else.

Thus, we push our case on the city watch. Viserys will be eager for a distraction and grateful for Rhaenyra's recent aid, perhaps even a bit more respectful of her competence and maturity. It's a good time. Otherwise getting to know the mother of our future children and doing so in our fathers company are good moves.

Oh that reminds me

Achievement Unlocked: Canon Avoided
-The canonical events of the Dance of Dragons and the years that came before it are no longer possible. Rhaenyra has weaved a new fate for the whole Realm.
This is a bit ironic, because in terms of personality Johanna Westerling sounds actually far more like book Alicent then show Alicent does, the latter two being radically different from each other. In a sense the match with Westerling may make things more like book canon, in the sense that we will now have an iron willed step mother wholly dedicated to putting her sons on the throne, atop our corpse if need be, like book Alicent was.

I think I'll go with this option. Though we need to see Syrax more and learn more Old Valyrian lore with Viserys.

Those Legos won't build themselves, you know!

Finally, Borros Baratheon was primarily angry about the way the Targaryen's ignored him, and the way he felt Rhaenys and Rhaenyra just assumed that he would follow his father's policy and support them. He was taken for granted, and that chafed at him. By visiting him now, we cut that issue off at the knees and we of course get a better understanding of how he will react to us.
eh borros rated high enough that he got a prince as his personal courier instead of a lettler like so many others
and in the books he seemed to be unaware that he is actually related to rhaenys till luke reminded him of it

so again that looks very much like making excuses to do what he already planned to do anyway while putting the blame for the decision on the other side
Well, with a Westerling Queen, the situation has changed. Will the Lannisters be grateful to have a greater voice on the Council, or will they be worried about the Westerlings gaining power? We also should probably add the Craig to any visit to the Westerlands.
between tyland, the commander of the KG and joannas father the westerlands got three positions on the council , they have nothing to complain about at all

Book version too. I think if Rhaenyra had sent Joffery instead (he was unbetrothed) things could have gone differently.
doubt it, lucerys was just as able to negotiate a betrothal to one of borros daughters as his younger brother
joff being there would have changed absolutely nothing

Also spending time with Tarly is good not just for the sake of our own training, but also because now that the queen is of the same house as the lord commander, it may behoove us to have our own man in the Kingsguard checking for us if some funny business may be going on there. Remember how much trouble Cole caused in canon from his position in the Kingsguad? Harold Westerling would probably be able to do no less if the queen could convince him to.

...yeah. Another case of "Not the same people as in canon, but maybe the same dynamics". Eerily parallel by accident, I would say.

On the other hand, between Tyland, Harrold, Johanna, and Roland, they may start getting Ideas Above Their Station.

I may be too late, but I would like to emphasize that we need to commit an action per turn unless it is *urgent* on training. We picked a warrior build and we need to do the work necessary to become the best of the best and take full advantage of it. Rhaenyra is no shrinking violet, but an aspiring knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Interpersonally, meeting with Alicent is of course top priority, but honestly I don't care very much about our relationship with Viserys as long as it is amicable.

Oh come on, next you're going to tell me that we're going to marry Laenor, only for a scandal to start about the paternity of our children because we couldn't manage to conceive with him as our husband :p
