Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Actually, I think we only have Steel Skin up and not VLE. So kind of backwards. At least, the last couple updates called out essence spent on Steel Skin and not for VLE.

So @Azaus and @RXIV we already have that buff up no point in voting for it. We could use steel skin I guess. Not sure what our soak is right now with only Viridian Legend Exoskeleton and Shintai.
We alrealdy use this too:
You Lose 1 Essence -> Now at 9/15 (Steel Skin)
Ascendancy of Man takes 15 Damage -> Now at 15/35
We just don't know how many sucess we have, DP don't put the roll.

We just don't know how many sucess we have, DP don't put the roll.
Well we made the roll with I think -6 to our DC? So I expect enough to max it out.

Of course right now we are using a Shantai health bar so soak doesn't matter that much. In 15 minutes or so the health bar fades away in any case.

Oh, you get the max of Stamina 8 out of that, hard not to with the DC reductions you were under.
So our absorption has already a plus 8 (with Viridian Legend Exoskeleton) which, combined with examples of our absurd damage (even without the full strength of the Green Sun Nimbus) and our Shintai we can kill these monsters easily until the Gate closes.

No need to vote for anything else. Just attack.

[X] Fight as you are, you can deal with secrecy later, the cat isn't going to be easy to shove back in the bag regardless

I'm partial to throwing the bag away, not like it helps us.

We did activate it here... I think?

Is this a new scene? I thought that we put that up earlier?
Do we have VLE active? Do we have omnious chanting boss music going? I missed that, sorry (had to write and defend a proposal for the next six years of funding for the last week, and it wasn't very easy).

Anyway, the hounds seem fairly heavy hitters based on their response to Lydia's bolts, so we should keep the buffs and shintai. The witnesses aren't a problem - Tiffany can heal agg, and can certainly use a boost to her cult. We could probably convert them all, Tiffany could make some deals, and we could buy out whatever firm they are a part of. Not an issue, really.

We should probably also stunt using Shintai to convert this place into a pop up fortress. That would benefit us in the actual fight if they press the issue, provide cover for the bystanders, and mitigate the damage to their property.

Property damage isn't the most serious issue here, but crushing the home or place of business of someone riding the poverty line can put them in a literal death spiral.

We might as well just turn the area around the gate into that secure kill zone room we had installed in the palace.

The people here are not riding the poverty line, that is the better parts of the city. Here, in the place just on the other side of the veil from hell you would be lucky to find someone who is in sight of the poverty line.

Also fun thought, you guys got Open the Calibration Gate for New Years and it looked like you might not use it for a while, but the month was so packed that you did use it just before the end of January.

Man, it's still January?!

Talk about making the rest of us look bad. First month of the year and Molly's already made fantastic progress on her New Year's Resolutions: cutting off bad friends (giving Sandra to Winter), getting a good job (ruler of Boston sounds high-paying), cultivating a professional network (Mongolian Vampire and Vice-Chair of the Federal Reserve, oh my!), even making a good impression on her social peers (Yama Kings now know better than to throw hands with Molly).

This is gonna be a crazy year if things still this consistently insane.

That works, I'm not too particular beyond replacing the area so that when it snaps back after leave we won't leave any damage behind.

The problem is that this is the sort of thing that needs to be done with care and purpose rather than as a surprise. Especially since Nemesis wants to knock it over to advance its plans.

I think we need a solid foundation for the paranet and multiple major governments in a position to manage absorb the impact first.

Fair, but I think the same rationale applies.

Tiffany: When did you learn to do that?

Molly: Dunno, a few weeks ago maybe? Noticed it while watching fireworks. Why?

I wonder if we can get the same vein to pulse at the same time on Tiffany and Uriel's foreheads. You know, to help her connect with her estranged uncle like a good friend. :V

Grammar

The fallen in the coins are limited by the rules of the game to confine their influence to earth and to "subtle" uses of power. The lack of splat books declaring the number of dice to roll for their powers shouldn't be taken to mean they don't have them.
By the rules, and by active enforcement (and retribution) of people more powerful than them.
The Earthbound and Fallen were similarly
Post-Rebellion but pre-Abyss Fallen in the WoD were plot device powerful as well.

when did we learn michael kicked lucifers ass or is that a biblical thing your talking about?

Dacca is in Bangladesh. Thats the tropics. In daytime.
Eesh. PR as well as tactical implications.

OTOH?
Its only been a year and half since the events of Dead Beat had zombie armies fighting on the streets of Chicago, and Dresden rode a zombie T-rex through downtown Chicago .

The Iphone was just announced this January, Samsung Galaxy only gets announced in 2 years.
Cheap smartphones are not yet a thing anywhere, whether the First World or the Third World. And there are no security cameras on construction sites in the slums in the Third World.

If this is an active construction site, that means its daytime.
And Nergui, as a Yin-aspected kuejin, only gets a couple minutes of direct sun exposure before he begins to take damage, so he isnt going to be much help out here.

On the flip side, that same sunlight will have an effect on demon servitors and similar minions from a Yin-aspected Hell; they step out here, those of them vulnerable to sunlight are taking debuffs from the sunlight.
Any akuma will have to roll for Wave Soul because sunlight.

The only person who speaks it in the party is the ancient vampire on a horse made of his own cursed soul. He may or may not speak it in a manner that would not be out of place at the court of the Mughal Emperors.
Doesnt matter. Nergui has Authority.
• • • AUTHORITY

The Cathayans once held a mandate over mortals. Although Heaven seems to have annulled this mandate, the Kuei-jin have not forgotten it. With this power, the Kuei-jin displays the strength of his Hun by using it to awe and overwhelm other souls. Souls thus subordinated are quick to obey the Cathayan's commands, as if he were an emperor of old.

System: The vampire spends a Willpower point, then rolls Hun + Etiquette against a variable difficulty. If using this power against a mortal, ghoul or similar creature, the difficulty is only 5. If using Authority against a shen (Kindred, hengeyokai, etc.), the difficulty is 8. Kuei-jin cannot use the power against other Kuei-jin who have higher Hun or Dharma scores. The same roll is used to determine the power's effect against all creatures in the vicinity.

Example: A Kuei-j in with Hun 3 and Etiquette 3 rolls 3,1,9,6,6, 5. The botch cancels out the "9," so the vampire is left with 3, 6,6,5. He easily affects the mortal Yakuza gangsters near him, but has absolutely no effect on their Hakken werewolf oyabun.
If the roll succeeds, for one scene the Kuei-jin is imbued with Authority, which affects all present at the time of the power's manifestation. While under the mantie of Authority, the vampire's Charisma and Manipulation scores increase by three points with regard to affected creatures. These creatures also find themselves unable to lie to the vampire. In the eyes of affected individuals, the vampire is a person of rank and importance; victims obey him with little thought as to why. Most mortals do not even realize that the vampire's authority is supernatural, although wise ancients might suspect, and shen certainly know.

The vampire may give commands and expect to have them obeyed. To give a command, the vampire faces the person(s) to
be commanded (who must be affected by the Authority already |isablished), then vocally gives them an order. The victim
must be able to understand the vampire. The vampire rolls Hun against a difficulty based on the chart below. *

The mantle of Authority lasts for a scene.

Difficulty /Successes Needed/ Type of Order

5 /one/ Cease action, don't act, do nothing
6 /one/ Simple order, or one the victim knows is the "correct" thing to do
8 /one/ Complex order, order to do something "out of character"
8 /two/ Potentially life-threatening, violation of the victim's honor/principles
9 /two/ Self-destructive
He can burn 1 Chi and jedi mind trick all the mortals here to leave.
While Molly + Lydia + Lash defend the Gate.

-[X] Nergui uses Authority to clear the area of mortal civilians, and then gets out of the direct sunlight: 1 Chi
-[X] Molly + Lydia + Lash (+/- the rescues) defend the Gate until it closes
-[X]STUNT: "Get the civies gone, Nergui" you bark, deflecting a claw before half-swording a Hound through the neck, ripping its essence apart even as Lydia's bolts takes another in the face. "And get into cover." As you speak, two miles above your head the world bends to your will, concentrating a shaft of sunlight around your location, and through the portal into depths of the Wicked City that had never before felt its touch. You grapple the suddenly limp weight of the Hound, as Lash detonates another flashbang in the face of the attackers, and then you hurl it like a missile through the Gate.

RATIONALE
Its the tropics in daytime.

Nergui is a Bone Flower, hence Yin-aspected. He's an elder, so he undoubtedly has mitigations, but the direct sunlight is not great for him. And he speaks Bengali, so he can talk to the civilians. So disperse the civilians with Authority, then duck into a building and provide arrow fire.

Molly, Lydia and Lash have no trouble with the sunlight. Neither does anyone else.
And the three girls still have Physical Attribute 10 from Lash's buffs.
Molly specifically is at like Soak 21, Health 23/27. They can hold this.

Im half-inclined to let the attackers step out into the Sun and roll for Wave Soul because sunlight + Hell Queen + Demon + Death Exalt. But Im not sure all of the attackers have the standard suite of weaknesses that akuma do.
This would have been a great time to have the charm that gives you a magical chaingun.

Why not Shintai up a big reflective wall to bathe the corner of the wicked city we fled from in natural sunlight? That'd be fun to charge into as a demon and might do something screwy to the other side as a final dig at Mikaboshi.

I didn't consider the sunlight issue and I am guessing that DP didn't either. It certainly puts a damper on this whole gate defense thing. Most of the stuff that might come through will melt like sugar in rain.

Part of the reason the maskerade holds up. This sort of thing just doesn't happen in broad daylight.
