Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Would rather not bother with mind hand, and source code, and just attack.
Might I recommend Plan Systemic Elimination it has none of our party members flaring their anima putting on their godslaying armor or blowing our fucking only disguise or wasting multiple rounds putting up Buffs before we even get to the Target and also not indiscriminately attacking our fucking allies as well it's pretty good. As well as immediately attacking the enemy.

[] Systemic Elimination

Also worth noting: There's explicitly multiple blast doors between us and our destination.
We are going to have to activate Tool Constructs to blow through them, and thats something that will
a) Cost Essence, making us flare our anima
b) Display an ability no akuma or demon servitor has, while in the view of this facility's surveillance cameras

Any and all considerations about stealth went away once we went loud.
Its all about speed now.
I was wondering if being ID'd now would get higher class enemies being scrambled our way no matter the cost, but as you say it's too late to worry about that either way so
I expect they are being scrambled anyway, given the importance of this facility. This is just part of the local guard force.
Hence speed.

Would rather not bother with mind hand, and source code, and just attack.
These are puzzle minibosses with meat shields.
All of whom can apparently fly.
3x akuma, 8 drones. 11 enemy units in all.

Most of our war party dont even have ranged attacks. ALL of Lydia's golems only roll Brawl attacks.
Mindless attack just bogs you down.

@BronzeTongue why are you voting for Uju32 if you were in favor of speed then he has most of our party buffing themselves not making attacks he's trying to initiate what is functionally dialogue and you think that's going to be faster than a 12 second to 24 second combat.

You mean the plan that has Lash, who explicitly does not even soak Lethal damage when she is in normal form, not activating any of her defenses while there are multiple hostiles pointing ranged weapons?
Lash has 7 HLs and no soak in base form. You shoot her, she WILL die like a mortal.

You mean the plan thats trying to batter through the defenses of Wardens who have stacked elemental shields to take damage for them?

You mean the plan that has an elder Bone Flower using Demon Chi in a Hell while under the debuff of All is Poison?
You DO realize that once you activate a Demon Art, it locks you out of a lot of other Disciplines for the fight?
And that just the fact of trying to activate a Demon Art requires a roll against entering Shadow Soul?

Despite explicit Word of QM warnings, your plan is treating this random encounter like scrubs to be walked over instead of an encounter to be taken seriously.
I think thats a bad idea.

You do realize he has internalize at a high level right. Your plan requires Lydia to flare her anima for a circumstantial bonus and has her use her Javelin anyway at a Target that she probably won't hit. I do not believe our cover to be completely blown I think it is fully believable because there are multiple weapons that are kind of like Usum both Yin Prana and bone shintai provide weapons similar to it.

I'm of the thought that an attack made it with 26 dice at difficulty 2 will kill him in one hit it doesn't matter that he has 15 Health levels. Aggravated damage at that. Lydia if she uses Her Excellency and her spear with aggravated damage is throwing 25 dice at difficulty 8 hers is more uncertain but it's definitely going to massively injure whoever she hits with it.

On our Methuselah level friend I guess he could use Yang Prana to do the same but he has high levels of internalized and to be frank not that much Yang Chi based on his appearance so I thought demon chi would work better.

Basically this. I don't think people are really reading them.
[X] Uju32
I'm not treating them seriously really trying to kill them as quickly and as hard as possible without pissing our resources isn't treating them seriously trying to intimidate people that have sold the chunks of their soul is treating them seriously okay sure whatever.

For example, we already know that Wardens + Shields is 15 Wounds each, that's already 45 Wounds to burn through nevermind literally everyone else? (Even if we magically cut away the shields instantly that's still 30 Wounds)

So if we can get any of them not to bother fighting us that also counts as a win IMO
If they got 10 successes on their Dodge roll from us we would still do 15 dice of aggravated damage just in bonus dice to hit plus possible 10 strength and two extra from usum's. Due to hitting at difficulty 2 we have a 90% chance on every single dice of getting a success.

Lydia in the same vein with 25 dice for her Javelin would hit at difficulty 8 this is far more uncertain if they somehow managed to get 10 successes on their Dodge roll there's a large chance they would still end up taking six dice of aggravated damage.

The reason I keep coming back to that 10 figures because they would be rolling with their full dice pool and getting a success on every single Dice and would still be eating enough damage to put a mortal man in the ground completely eating through the elemental Shields within one round with a perfect roll black wind is not Celerity it doesn't Grant an extra dice of dexterity or anything like that it's an active effect.

This also depends on us intimidating people who have fucking drones that say your excruciations will be shorter and our little demonic friends starts crying. Not to mention the fact they sold the parts of their soul to the lord of the wicked City so if they run they can definitely expect extreme and unrelenting excruciations upon them.

I agree this is likely occuring as per SOP, but just to check our priors, do you believe that right now we still have stealth (defined as not recognised as Molly or associates), and do you think that our metaphorical encounter table will be upgraded if we are recognised as Molly?
I think we had stealth until around the time of our encounter with the technicians, but that we were still rated as powerful and valuable opponents running around the city's industrial heart with unknown WMDs. Once they got a clear look at us on camera we were at minimum on the clock and probably identified with reasonably high confidence.

Even if they haven't the response remains identical. Throw everything available at us to slow us down for a hammer blow. The resources present to do the slowing down part are the same, and even if we somehow tricked them into using a smaller hammer it would still be a significant fight that would drain our resources, use up our time, and position us for an even bigger one. That's a death spiral we could easily get trapped in; we're pulling a blitz here, we can't afford to stop.
@BronzeTongue why are you voting for Uju32 if you were in favor of speed then he has most of our party buffing themselves not making attacks he's trying to initiate what is functionally dialogue and you think that's going to be faster than a 12 second to 24 second combat.
If it works they flee and we save lots of time. If it doesn't we have everyone buffed to run and gun. Nergui's ranged attacks will have to carry the day as we sprint for the door.

1) We WANT them to run.
If they run, we dont do this fight and can go on our way. By the time they can get together some greater akuma to respond, we should be gone.
No. This is absurd. If they run, they bring in reinforcements, up to and including Mikaboshi himself. Them running away right now is mission failure.

What makes you think that the hightech Hell isn't aware of our presence and sending reinforcements to our possibly broadcasted/reported location as we speak? DP already outright stated that would be Mika's most likely strat to bog us down with hit squads so stronger units can show up and mote tap us. Why would these guys escaping be a requirement for that to happen?

Also was this thread acting weird for anyone else? I straight up couldn't reply for a half hour.

This is what I think Uju wanted to say in his vote, no matter who we are, servants of Enma or Molly, we are invaders who released a super weapon within his territory and we are invading a place of high security and importance, he will try kill us as much as possible by any means already. The only reason we were only facing these mooks and not a larger number is because they were closer to us, not because the supervisor of this facility thought they would be enough to deal with the with us.

1) You explicitly cant use a lot of Disciplines once you've used a Demon Art.

=====
2) Lydia does not have the Anima Control Merit.
That means she is flaring once she burns 3m or more, like your entire plan was on course to do anyway.
So this entire argument was an exercise in futility.

=====
3) Molly et al have a current ground speed of 50 yards/second, which is a little over 100 miles an hour.
That a rapid reaction force was able to intercept her means that we have been under continuous surveillance at least since we blew up the weapons turret after deploying Hopebringer.

=====
4) No it would not.

The Wardens are Akuma. They didnt give their souls away for free; they sold them for something or other.
These arent elders, but they are experienced.
Even restricted to non-elder Disciplines, you are still looking at heavily armored elites.

For example, assuming they have Stamina 5?
Iron Mountain 5 + Armor 5 + 3 pts of Chi on Bone Shintai 1: Corpse Skin + 1 Chi on Blood Shintai 1: Permeate + 2 Demon Chi on Hellweaving 3 is just 6 points of Chi. That gives them for the scene:

10 Aggravated Soak
+6HLs
-1DC to soak rolls
-2DC to all rolls pursuing the will of the Yama King they serve

And Im not counting any other gear they may or may not have that may or may not convey buffs.
Like those Elemental Shields.
You are significantly underestimating these dudes IMO.

=====
5)Nergui is Kuejin. He has no protection against All Is Poison without rituals or gear, both of which require setup time.
Even if he could use Internalize, he would be rolling it at a penalty of +2DC, going from DC6 to DC8 at best.
And he cant use Internalize after triggering a Demon Art.

=====
6) You were doing penny pinching in unwise ways. Penny wise pound foolish.

For example, Lash has NO soak against lethal or aggravated damage.
She is just as fragile as a mortal when she isnt in Apocalyptic Form. She has no defense against All is Poison either, so it applies to her rolls. She is not an Exalt; she does not stunt, she does not ignore 1s, and can botch.

If any of those Slaver Drones shoot at her, she's rolling 11 dice (Dexterity 10 + Athletics 1) for a dodge at DC8 (base 6 + All Is Poison 2). Average 2.2 successes, because 1s subtract sux.

A ranged drone with Generic Servitor(1000 Hells p100) attack pool of 7 dice( Dex 3, Brawl 4, so replace the Brawl with Firearms), an assault rifle (7L) and a scope for -1DC difficulty reduction gets to Strafe, adding +10 dice to their attack roll to make it 17 dice at DC6.

Thats 8 sux, 6 more than Lash's dodge roll.
They now roll 7 base damage + 6 threshold sux to determine damage, which comes to an average of 4 successes.
Lash has no lethal soak. Applied directly to Lash's 7 HP, that takes her from full health to -2 wound penalty in one hit.

A second drone hit will kill her. There are EIGHT drones, two for each member of our party.

My plan had her spend exactly two I focused on the people I thought were the most threat and the most likely to impede our movement that is it. I was being considerate of the fuel efficiency and our disguises I did not want anyone to flare and I wanted to dispatch the Akuma as fast as possible I didn't want to posture or threaten people that are definitely going to spend willpower to ignore the threat and fight them anyway immediately blow our entire disguise have everyone with any level of Supernatural senses be able to tell where we are this entire time as both us and Lydia flare on top of fucking Tiffany going into her High torment form this is going to be a cluster fuck no matter how you put it this isn't going to be a running battle this is going to be a fucking gauntlet.

With respect, thats not true.
By the time they go back, report, organize reinforcements and return? That takes TIME.
We wont be here.

And I give negative odds that Mikaboshi would personally stick his head in here anyway.
He didnt survive more than two millenia of conflict by getting into unnecessary fights. Nor does he have a reputation as a fighter, the way Emma-O, Tou Mu and Rangda do. Thats why he has minions.

That was never going to work.

With All is Poison active, Lydia would be attacking at DC7(base 5 + malus 2), and a 22 dice attack would give you 9 successes rounded up. Assume the target dont dodge or parry, and you get to add all that to your damage roll, which is Hunting Bolt 5 + 9 threshold sux at DC6(I'll be generous, and leave the All is Poison malus off this roll), which translates to 7 successes average.

The Akuma now rolls 10 Aggravated soak at DC3(Base 6 - Blood Shintai 1 - Hellweaving 3) for an average of 8 successes.
No damage.
You get to burn more Essence and continue a longer fight.

And that remains while Lydia is subject to the Shaping effect of All Is Poison.

And meantime the enemy gets to act on its own. And we get mauled.
Lash certainly dies, because mortal human physique at base aint soaking lethal or agg damage. Bakemono Bob follows.
Nergui has limited Chi, and cant use some things. You death spiral fast

The only person who has a guarantee of survival is Molly, because she IS that tough and still has shintai in her back pocket.

PS
Apocalyptic Form =/= High Torment form.
Respectfully? You need to refamiliarize yourself with some of these details if you're going to make vote plans for combat, or you'll make mistakes that will cost us.

The aggravated damage on Lydia spear activates for a scene not just a singular attack also we're just assuming they have 10 aggravated soak really random guards in a prison Ward has hellweaving three the direct interest of fucking the lord of the wicked City really they're not even full akuma.

I took your advice and altered my plan because I realized you are correct about the demon chi so I changed it to Yang Prana you also suggested a really good usage of storm shintai. I added them into my plan because they were good and matched my own objectives. But Tiffany is going before any of the Wardens and before Lydia the highest level damage box that a character has gets filled out first which means any bashing damage they take from Tiffany's also factors into Lydia's Effectiveness on her attack and our 10,000 Elder friend's attack.

When I say I was trying to eliminate as many of them as possible I meant it because you had a partial plan that matched that agenda I took parts of it I didn't want to try and posture or threaten people who aren't going to fall for that shit. Torture is enough of a stimulus to Spur willpower spending and they are in for a lot if they actually run to the point where it's probably better to actually die in combat.

I'm just of the opinion that relayed surveillance footage relay is considerably slower than active input from people chasing us and that not having any enemies at our back was also good. I didn't want to just go explosively louder from the start I wanted to kill quickly and quietly with no chance of any intervention. Now two of our combatants are going to spend a significant portion of this first turn buffing themselves we are also going to be buffing ourselves we are going to completely discard our disguise well before we even got to Joe's prison block I'm not looking optimistic about this.

They are not random guards, they are experienced akuma.
The QM explicitly said this.
  1. The fact that you do not know how fast those gliders are, they seem like they could be fast enough to keep up with you
  2. They are enslaved iron elementals and they are precisely what it says on the tin, shields, they add 5 wounds to each Akuma for a total of 15 unless someone takes the time to break their chains, breaking one chain takes an action unless you guys come up with some more creative way to do so
  3. They are about 30 ft off the ground and weight... about half a ton each. As for the drones they weigh as much as an adult human, so let's say 11 lbs
  4. Not this turn, you get all your actions and then we see if something else wants to come through
  5. Wardens are proper Akuma, fallen Wan Kuei and reasonably experienced ones that get the good tech, hence why it looks like it is actually from the future not the future's scrap heap like most things from the Wicked City. They are not elders, like the one Olivia killed, but they are not chaff either and here they are in a place that favors them. Drones and wardens both have some kind of high tech gun
  6. After everyone else, they are zombies, that means they are always at the end of the initiative order
Again, you are treating an experienced, well-equipped response party at a high-security facility like scrubs.

Arc 12 Post 74: When Time Breaks
When Time Breaks

28th of January 2007 A.D.

Thought becomes action in the span of an instant, thought becomes force, pushing against pressing against the presence, the twisted, violated authority of the bound elementals. —We were honored once, we were strong. We are strong for master. Please don't break us!— to feel the servos in that demon forged armor whine and buckle. Limbs snap like withered branches, chest caves over an un-beating heart.

Warden 1 Takes 20 Damage -> Shields broken, now at 2/7 Maimed -2 Dice

To your right light blooms, a flower of fractals that reveals the visage of an angel, no more upon wings of black but crystal bright, her right hand raised in rebellion to the cloying darkness of this place and to the blinking metal eyes unafraid, an avatar of rebellion., recalling things for which you have no words and then, almost unbidden they come:

[Servants-of-the-Tyrant Rejoice for thou are free. If thee know it and Blades-Turn-Purpose-Twist or know not and in ignorance/uncertainty perish Freedom envelops/is contained by thee!]
It feels right, somehow more familiar than the armor of stolen idols upon your shoulders.

Lost 2 Essence -> Now at 10/15 (Occult Excellency+ VLE)

Beneath your gaze slaver drones sputter and fail, paper thin insulators suddenly alight, joints poorly soldered opening like the sutures of of some failed surgery to spill out their contents onto the ground below. They scream, the servants of the would-be Demon Emperor, worshipers of an idol with feet of silicon and glass. They do not, will not hope, for to hope is to see their own damnation reflected in your shield. Even as one of their drones falls from the sky and Lydia raises a hand to smite the second Warden nothing but rage is writ upon his features. As one of the elemental shields flies to guard him, one plate breaking under the blow, another breaking.

All Slaver Drones Destroyed
Regained 2 Essence (MiM) -> Now at 12/15
Bonded Drone 1 Destroyed
Bonded Drones 2 and 3 at 2/7, Still at 0

Lydia loses 2 Essence -> Talisman at 0/3
Warden 2 takes 8 Damage -> Elemental Shields at 7/15

As Lydia draws back a hand of marble spun Nergui whistles, a sound half-man half-horse, the whistle becomes wind and the wind comes alive in rage. Those of your foes still able to control their platforms try to stay in the air, but in this the elder will not be defied. One crashes into th far wall striking a pipe that spews dirty yellow steam reeking of ammonia, one gouges a path though the floor and just barely manages to pull the platform airborne again, but the one you are already pinning well he is rather occupied to control his conveyance, as you let go he flips over and is driven into the ground like a nail into soft wood.

Warden 1 is Immobilized in the wreck of his platform (Strentgh DC 8 to Escape)
Wardens 2 and 3 take +2 DC to all firearms rolls due to being Shaken

Alas he had not paid as much attention to the drones as he should. Still your brace for them to shoot, they both have guns. What you had not expected them to dive right at you wings folded inwards a space... no time seemed to stre.. tch. Essence within flexes, about to cast off the shakles of tainted Yin that threatened to freeze you like a bug in tainted Yin when a stony hand grabs onto your shoulder and pulls you clear.

Remaining Drones Self Destruct -> Yin Bomb
Lydia Loses 1 Willpower (+1 Success to Warding of the Divine Ancestry) > Now at 9/10 Willpower

A time trap... that had been a time trap. A part of you, the larger and more sensible part to the sure, shuddered at the thought of something like that in the hands of Mikaboshi's jailers. Another part is sad they had blown up in the process. Only then as you turn your head do you realize the old warrior had been frozen, the other bomb had caught him. How long...?

Nergui Time-Frozen by Yin Bomb

Before you can do more than glance his way the akuma Lydia had struck takes aim at her again and fires, three bursts at once, each one of them a curse on flesh and bone... though thankfully not on stone. Between Nergui's mastery —please let him me alright— and your own proclamation he seems to be shooting more in rage than any kind of focus. You make sure that's the last thing he does too, arcing though the air, sowrd at the ready. Through metal and magic, amour and dead flesh..

Warden 2 takes 26 Damage -> Destroyed

As one three airs of chains snap, but the elementals do not flee. "[There in the smoke, see-see, there he hides/craven flees]" thus speaks iron once enslaved, in the Tongue before all tongues.

Three Iron Elementals Freed

What do you do?

[] Chase after the fleeing Warden

[] Try to figure out what the time freeze bomb did to Nergui (Wits Occult; Excellency still active)

[] Write in

OOC: Yes, that is in fact a bomb that congeals time. In the Wicked City Mikaboshi gets to break out the good toys, though even so this patroll was not ready for you to break out titan-speech to deal with the drones. No rolls for this one, there are just way too many.
