I think we'll want to go hard on martial adventurers while we're getting set up. Not all of them, just the ones that seem amenable to playing guard duty for a while. There's gonna be a lot of proverbial giant rats in the cellar without any mercenaries to cover for us, so we'll be relying entirely on them for security.

I would say 5 Martial adventurers and the remaining 5 divided between the other attributes. Since those martial adventurers are going to need skilled support.

Prologue IIIb - Adventurers & Treasures.
You wake to the morning of the third day to a little lustful surprise.

Rapunzel clearly felt the energy in the air and the spirit of ghur in her blood, for you woke to find her lips fastened securely to your jewels, a hand caressing the crease and curved tip of your lordly rod.
The suckling to follow was spirited, and the fucking thereafter left you sweating into her breasts, placing kisses on their peaks.
Nothing could spoil this moment.

After Rapunzel expended her morning vivaciousness and drained you of yours, a breakfast followed to refresh you both before the day descended into the adventure of securing Adventurers.

The good, the bad, the clinically insane.
Tears of rejection flowed from boys barely out of their shorts after you turned them away, and bitter barks of anger followed your dismissal of those without any rlevant skills at all. What kind of Postal Clerk would wish to expend his life for coin in Lustria?!

Finally you were left with a list of the interesting and the skilled.

  • The Jade Serpent Talisman: A small, intricately carved jade talisman in the shape of a serpent. Legend has it that this talisman was once wielded by an ancient high priest of a Serpent God, and it holds the key to unlocking the hidden temple deep within the jungle.
Rapunzel denotes this an artefact of Ghur, Ghyran and Hyshian magic, and seems quite enthused with the lovingly crafted curls of the -so she says- Anaconda depicted.
    17 Mo
  • The Map of the Forgotten City: A weathered parchment map depicting the layout of a long-lost Temple-City buried beneath the dense foliage of Lustria, West of the Colony's planned landing. The map is said to have been created by an explorer who stumbled upon the city centuries ago.
Rapunzel mutters something in an unknown tongue as she looks over the map, and reminds you with warning that the scaled masters of Lustria do not abandon their cities for no reason.
    20 Mo
  • The Crystal Eye of Tlaxtlan: A flawless crystal sphere imbued with ancient magic, claimed to have been crafted by the Astromancers of the rumoured Tlaxtlan. The crystal is said to reveal hidden paths and secrets within the jungle, leading to a secret hidden by Tlaxtlan's mists.
Rapunzel holds the gem up to her eye -using lead-tipped Ashwood tongs- with trepidation, claiming that the artefact radiated Azyr magic of such potence that she almost choked upon it, yet it seemed dormant. Sleeping?
    16 Mo
  • The Amulet of the Sun Priest: A golden amulet adorned with intricate sun motifs, once worn by a revered Sun Priest of the Amazons. This Relic seems to reflect an image when held up to the brightest of sunshine. An image of shimmering light pooling in the hollows of a sun-topped tree.
Something in Rapunzel's nature hungers for the amulet's destination, and she expends magic into a light cantrip that makes you yelp with stinging eyes in an effort to catch glimpse of the tree's reflection. After this she replaces the amulet and steps away with the air of a child scalded by a stove.
    19 Mo
  • The Luminous Orchid Bloom: A rare and exotic orchid seed with glowing sides that shimmer with rainbow, rumored to germinate only within a secluded grove deep within the Lustrian jungle. The orchid is said to possess magical properties, its tea granting the imbiber long life and immunity to many ailments.
Rapunzel giggles, then laughs aloud as she names this seed the 'oft-cursed prism'. Ulthuan's finest botanists and ghyran mages have apparently tried for centuries to germinate the few rare examples of this seed on the paradise island, and all attempts have bitterly failed. It is truly unique to Lustria, never Ulthuan's to covet, and many Asur despise it for that fact.
    16 Mo

You will be able to purchase up to 10 adventurers ('Hiring them') at an initial cost of 5 Mo each, with an upkeep of 1 Mo per Month.
Unhired adventurers will rotate through the colony via the tavern, travelling to your colony and to the others along the lustrian coast in pursuit of their goals.

You have 255 Mo as your treasury.

Expedition Treasures are Expensive, and essentially lead into potentially lucrative or Unique Expeditions when researched, however keep in mind that Unresearched treasures will essentially be big fat targets for enemy agents and saboteurs to come steal or break, and some factions will become a bit ornery about their existence -and pursuing their secrets- without careful diplomatic maneuvering.

The Vote will be Open Immediately, and go until 6pm UTC tomorrow.

Be Polite, Vote By Plan, Negotiate with each other.

After this Vote the Colony fleet will be leaving, and the 'Second Wave' vote will happen after the Colony is Planted and you have the lay of the land.

That means yes, the first Event roll of Flynn's Lucky/Unlucky life shall be after this vote completes. WOO!

I noticed you put Johann and Klaus together.

Does that mean we have to hire them both for 5 Mo (10 in total) and then pay them 2 Mo a month?

They're gay for each other and I will be writing explicit sidestories featuring that if you purchase them together.

It was a Typo.
Cool, great to know. :D

Um... and the mercs? Shouldn't we pick some companies to come along with the first wave?

What do you think about that plan?

Plan: Ready for the jungle and for infiltrations
Ludolf Van der Zee (Witch-Hunter, Intrigue)
Thyriol Tollendor of Saphery (Celestial wizard, Learning)
Hektor Schmidt (Scout, Martial)
Stephen Trevor (Ulrikan priest, Martial)
Klaus Steinberger (Sewer guard, Intrigue)
Elena Volker (Cartographer, Learning)
Selene Navarro (Explorer, Diplomacy)
Lorenzo Valtieri (Alchemist, Learning)

That's 8 adventurers, so we're paying 40 gold upfront and 8 per turn after that. We have a mix of most stats, with 2 Martial to explore the jungle, enough Learning to make use of it and Intrigue to hunt down infiltrators and cultists. There's even some Diplomacy to help smooth troubles with the Amazones.

They're gay for each other and I will be writing explicit sidestories featuring that if you purchase them together.
Please do so :V

[X] Plan Learning, Martial, and Pretty Flowers
-[X] Pandora the Pioneer (Estalian Trailblazer, Diplomacy)
-[X] Klaus Steinberger (Former Sewer Guard, Intrigue)
-[X] Arda Kohring (Noble Amber Wizard, Learning)
-[X] Elena Volker (Cartographer, Learning)

-[X] Anwen Starshade (Wood Elf Waywatcher, Martial)
-[X] The Map of the Forgotten City (20 Mo)
-[X] The Luminous Orchid Bloom (16 Mo)

Total cost: 86 Mo, +10 Upkeep

The specific adventurers picked here could be argued (though I think Klaus Steinberger and his adorable dog are a must-have, and I think the Learning choices are right as they include the available cartographer and the two least objectionable wizards), but given the situation I think 1 Intrigue/1 Diplomacy/3 Learning/5 Martial is about right. I'm tempted by more Diplomacy and Intrigue, but I do agree we likely want more Martial than anything else, and Learning coming in second (and available numbers of adventurers in each category bear this out). We should get more Intrigue and Diplomacy adventurers at some point, but in the short term this seems more correct.

For items, I think the map is very good, and the Luminous Orchid is good for several reasons (we have a botanist, it seems less likely to upset the lizardmen, and if it actually extends life Flynn and Rapunzel's relationship is less doomed on her end...the botanist one is the most important). A third item isn't unreasonable, but we're starting to gamble there, hence sticking to 2 here.

EDIT: Adding approval votes:

So, here is my plan. Is mostly Martial characters with both personal skill in combat and good leadership. This is because without mercenaries they will be the first line of defense of our Colony for some time.

The remaining adventurers are support staff, people skilled with gathering information, exploring, magical artifacts and diplomacy.

The two Leads are those i find more interesting. The Forgotten City might open numerous plotlines, while the mistical plant might allow characters to become more long lived. Both could reward us with immense riches.

That plan costs 72 gold, so we have plenty left. We have a mix of most stats, with 2 Martial to explore the jungle, enough Learning to make use of it and Intrigue to hunt down infiltrators and cultists. There's even some Diplomacy to help smooth troubles with the Amazones. Concerning the treasures, the Crystal allow us to reach Tlaxtlan and make the Celestial happy, while the Orchid is good for our botanist and can help prevent diseases.

My picks:

[X] Plan: Welcome to Lustria, ladies and gentlemen!
-[X] Thyriol Tollendor of Saphery (Asur, Journeyman Celestial Wizard, Learning)
-[X] Klaus Steinberger (Human - Empire, Former Sewer Guard, Intrigue)
-[X] Borin Ironfoot (Dwarf, Engineer, Learning)
-[X] Selene Navarro (Human - Estalia, Explorer, Diplomacy)
-[X] Elena Volker (Human - Empire, Cartographer, Learning)
-[X] Johann Klinger (Human - Empire, Dung Collector/Sewer Jack, Martial)
-[X] Jorl One-Eye (Dwarf, Burgher/Shieldbreaker, Martial)
-[X ]Marco di Pietro (Human - Tilea, Mercenary Captain, Martial)
-[X] Caelir Windrider (Asur, Sea-Guard Sergeant, Martial)
-[X] Anwen Starshade (Asrai, Waywatcher, Martial)
-[X] The Map of the Forgotten City (20 Mo)
-[X] The Luminous Orchid Bloom (16 Mo)

Cost: 86 Mo / 10 Mo upkeep

Like the rest, Martial is paramount in the opening turns due to the lack of any other military force.

Elves are usually better at their field of expertise than any other human, therefore an Elven scout, soldier, officer or magician will always have an advantage. Better to take them when it's possible. Add a few Dwarfs that can come in handy and we have our team.

I don't really see the point of Wilryn Stark compared to other more powerful or interesting Martial characters or an Intrigue character.

I mean, Warrior-Priest of Verena seems pretty useful...she's a Martial character who can do Learning stuff as well and can potentially do things like smite evil creatures, see through illusions, and ask her deity questions (all available miracles of Verena).

[X] Plan: Secrets of the Jungle
-[X] Thyriol Tollendor of Saphery (Asur, Journeyman Celestial Wizard, Learning)
