MOST.
BRUTAL.
REGIME.
IMAGINABLE!
They may not have more than around ~150 million people between them, but they are just that fucking horrific to live upon. You wanna know what their medical infrastructure is like? A dude that knows you need to boil bandages and clean wounds to keep infections out. And he has neither bandages nor clean water nor something to boil it.

It actually remains darkly hilarious how they've effectively achieved a Stack Overflow by being So Awful that somehow reality recoils away from them suffering Total Existence Failure.

Almost like the entire universe was designed to make their formation inevitable...

Anyway, all that aside, what would a hypothetical Super Crux perform like with Medium Double Hull armor and Two Arrays? Were there any major issues with its firepower or was the main problem just that they weren't quite chonky enough to survive the storms they provoked?

Actually, now that we've thrown down with the Sword-class, could we get an idea of how those are built now?

Sagittarius-Class Artillery Frigate
-Length - 1,700m
-Width - 400m
-Acceleration - 6 Gravities
-Armor - Single Hull
-Shields - Two Emitters
-Weapons - 1x Light Prow Lance, 2x Light Missile Batteries
-Equipment - Pure Lenses/Missile Swarms
I know we got feedback on the Sagittarius saying it's better not to give it Missiles if we want to use it as void artillery with the Lance, so is there a plan to give this a refit eventually as well? With just the Imperial Ship Study we could take out the Missiles and give it another Prow Lance, a Light Lance Battery and multiple other upgrades (Armored Bridge, SGE, better shields etc).

EDIT: Though obviously this is probably coming after the Taurus refit and getting more destroyers/another Andromeda.

Actually, I wonder if we can unlock some kind of Emergency Medicine at Med V, basic first aid/something that will decrease the loss of integrating new planets/etc, etc.

It's on deck, but I'd need at least 14 DP to account for the doctrine surcharges to get one to my satisfaction.

Ah, so you'd rather wait until we've completed the second ship research option as well.
Honestly we could probably get a decent build going with just 12, though I can't remember if Medium Prow Lances can be mounted on Frigates or not.
EDIT: Actually how strong are Light/Medium Prow Lances compared to the cost-equivalent Medium/Heavy Lances? The former are a lot less able to aim so I assume they hit harder to compensate, but it doesn't say in the description.

How much information does the general population of the Federation know about the Protectorate of Neon and what is their opinion?

You cannot, those are the Lamenters' ships, and they operate on "more ships > less ships" over "better ships > more ships."
You'll find out what the effects are once the Lantern Bearers go into combat! :V
And why should I tell you what the thresholds are for Bad Juju in overspending DP? :V
can't wait for one of the Ad Mech to start complaining on how the lamenters should stop lamenting and start taking care of the machine spirits more ( . . . oh, and the people, they exist too)

Better than the current Crux. The main issue was that there were too few Crux to soak up the damage.

Sword Class Frigate
-Length - 1.600-1.800m
-Width - 300-350m
-Acceleration - 4.4-4.5 Gravities
-Armor - Thin Double Hull-Medium Double Hull
-Shields - One Array-Two Arrays
-Weapons - 1-2x Light Lance Turrets/1x Light Lance Battery/Prow Ram
-Equipment - Armored Prow/Gravimetric Engine Calculations/Tuned Shields/Internal Security Systems/On-Board Supply Generation/Armored Bridges/Patrol Expert/Modular Frame
-Detriments - Short Ranged Weaponry/System Construction Variance (Weapons)/System Construction Variance (Equipment)
Actually how strong are Light/Medium Prow Lances compared to the cost-equivalent Medium/Heavy Lances?
Prow Lances are the second best in terms of raw damage delivered at once, only beat by AoE Void Artillery.

Pretty much what you know, and very, very low opinion. Especially among the Yeeni.
@HeroCooky the new reasearch option, Automechanical Augmentations, is that for people or for ships?
Your Mechanized Units. Added the [Unit] part to better show that.

Huh, a Super Crux would eat those for breakfast. Good to know.

Do they benefit at all from good mobility? Or is their role as a brawler making it somewhat redundant?

Oh yeah, Pinpoint Snapshots, would those be useful for Lance weapons?

Actually, on that note, do we even have any options for laser based macroweapons? That would be the ideal setup for a Sagittarius to have something to batter shields down to create openings for the prow lance, especially with high maneuverability and pinpoint snapshots to let it be able to take shots with the prow lance when most comparable ships can't.

If you ignore the effect of our Doctrine, I think that's roughly equivalent to the kind of Frigate we could design now?

Oh sweet. So if (if) we can ensure the enemy stays in front of the ship then Light Prow Lances are better than Medium Batteries or Turrets.

I don't think so. All the Lance variants are called out as having near 100% accuracy as long as you can get them pointed in the right direction, Pinpoint seems more useful for Macro-cannons.

Pinpoint is about getting good accuracy even on the move, rather than aiming better.

Wow, Thats a LOT of equipment. We can probably start to even that out once we can spare the action to get that standardization tech. We can make a better frigate in a pound for pound gubn sense, but all that equipment gives it a lot of advantages outside that. Onbord supply, the prow for ramming, Patrol expert, equipment to make boarding harder (Probably standard on imperials ships.)

Shot for shot we can make a better ship, But the sword is getting a LOT of bonus points from equipment bonuses that apply to corner cases/every day use.

Fortunately, it's not a huge deal for us yet because we don't have the space where we have individual ships that need to cover long patrols.

Indeed, We are not exactly in a position where are ships are spending a long time outside of pitched combat where they need to cover their expenditure with other duties, But it is easy to see how the sword managed to maintain it position as the go-to ship for the imperium, Its basically designed to be a logistical dream with the all laser armament, The On board supplies, The patrol expert, the internal security to prevent boarding and riots and the modular frame making it a dream to retrofit even for a faction as tech backwards as the imperium.

Pinpoint is about getting good accuracy even on the move, rather than aiming better.

Based on my reading, the Snapshot Targeting Solutions are about reducing the time it takes for weapons to aquire their targets, do all the math necessary to compensate for the 3d movement of 2 different vessels, which I suppose would count towards hitting 'on the move'? But it doesn't seem to boost accuracy in and of itself, more reduces the downtime between shots due to aiming-delay.

So I don't think they would benefit Lance Weapons, since they're basically just point and shoot weapons.

In order:
All Void Ships do.
No. Dodge Tank is valid way to brawl.
No. PS is for getting non-100% accuracy weapons higher accuracy.
No. You do not.

Thanks a lot Cooky! I have a great time with the ship designs, it's some of my favorite parts of an already excellent game.
