Because I want that military industry.

[X] Plan: GIRD THY LOINS

Because it's also good and the name is funny.

Edit: Figured I should actually add my own plan since other people want to vote for it.

…What is this plan? I'm looking around and it doesn't seem to have any actions I can see? It kinda just came from nowhere.

I think I like this better, because it gets us on the verge of a major fundamental improvement to our ability to just... wage war in general, but it doesn't actually neglect the navy.

[X] Plan: Buidling Up and Striking Out (Prep)
-[X] Military Infrastructure x1
-[X] Construct A Warp Ship - [Libra-S-Class]

The plan is the same as Prepping for a counterstrike. Just fyi.

I mean, apparently Mil Inf isn't what's hurting us, it's not being able to swing back while they just spool up to godhood apparently.

Then why does it lack any text in the vote tally?

It's still useful, and also it's not as if Prepping doesn't build up a military.

It's useful, but apparently not as useful as just... Knocking them on their ass. It does nothing in the short term evidently, while Infantry upgrades at least will aid our raiding efforts.

We'll have a bit more breathing space once we've let the boys and girls start doing their thing,

And apparently we're nowhere even remotely near even achieving parity with them, let alone surpassing them in this field. Mil Inf 3 should be enough to at least sustain a relatively short ranged "Punch them in the nose and loot them for all we can" campaign to cost them ships and industry while hopefully making viable gains ourselves in the process.

I mean, you say 'short term' but this is prepping it to be a single action from gaining a concrete advantage with mechanical heft. I don't think this is actually something to underestimate as drastically as you're doing. I feel like it's kind of very short-sighted?

It feels like it's still an overreaction to what HeroCooky said, and I get why it would be, that definitely fucked with my assumed priorities.

It's more "I'm hoping we can loot some off of them, because one of the areas in our strike distance is, in fact, a militarized world", and thus, I'm angling to achieve absolute quality advantage because they're just going to be Inherently Better at Fighting than us, so I hope to nullify that by putting our quality beyond what they can easily match.

We take Brotar, and we can raid two systems deep into Neon territory, that lets us clean out the systems directly adjacent to Brotar, and potentially take gains from whatever's behind them before they can reposition forces to counter us. If we can hit Brotar hard enough, and do enough damage before they fuck off to punish them. But that also means having better fighters for seizing the Brotar FoB, since I really don't want to be rushing a naval station in flak armor and laser guns.

Does anyone know why the Andromeda build isn't showing up on the vote counter for my plan?

Not that I'll likely win at this point, given I'm headed to bed now. Especially since loot evidently doesn't exist in the Quest's minds so there's functionally no reason to hear our infantry up.

<edit>
The square brackets around the shipclassname screw with the tally bot.
They are the only differences between Testplan and testplan2. Testplan2 (No brackets) looks as expected, Testplan (with brackets) only has one shipconstruction action
I guess the tallybot has some code to ignore everything between square brackets (usually: vote categories), so in the de-duplication step they look identical to tallybot and the second instance is culled as a duplicate of the first.

[X] Plan Prepping for a counterstrike

So anyway, a few things from the update that no one seems to be talking about:

First: the Neon Protectorate outright cannot put the bulk of their forces on us because they have other fronts to deal with.

Second: There's a high likelihood of at least one Forgeworld plus worlds aligned with said Forgeworld running in parallel with the Neon Protectorate.

Third: There is likely a Chaos-aligned force/state that is comparable to the Neon Protectorate and is powerful enough to stalemate the Protectorate. The Protectorate was likely trying to expand in order to feed their industry more resources to build up enough to break the bloody stalemate.
