I would like to advocate against Plan: New Age Navy. A single light rotary macrocannon isn't going to cut it as a line frigate- which is what we want for the frigate.

We need a frigate that can fight in the thick of it and dish out damage. New Age Navy's Nemean Lion class frigate splits its focus too much and has significantly less firepower than the Crux class missile frigate in the New Model Plan.

No, this is not the same as New Age Navy despite that plan's use of almost the same name.

So, I like the Circinus, I like the Lupus (tho I am curious as to why you decided on 2 60m dual tubes as opposed to a quad-80m tube) but I'm iffy on the Crux. It sits wrong with me to have a mainline anchor vessel running nothing but missiles. It seems kinda...vulnerable, I guess? To run a brawler-type escort without any macro cannons.

Also, just a question, but are we gonna phase out the Aries and the Sagitarrius or just go over the redesign for those classes at a later date?

Missiles are for brawling, apparently, while Macrocannons are all rounders which are best close in, but still viable at medium range.

The confidence is appreciated. I'm going to be voting for Alectai's plan, as it presents a coherent envisioning of how the fleet will fight that works well as a fleet, with the Light Cruiser design coming up next turn as the linchpin. Also, the sheer weight of missiles and torpedoes and strike-craft will thoroughly swamp the point defense capabilities of most fleets we might be able to fight at all in the first place.

I do like these designs despite how the Crux makes me feel, so I'll just force my brain to accept that we can slap a macro cannon or two onto the Crux-II a century or two from now.

The Nemean Lion is mostly all about toughness if you want a frigate able to be in the thick of things you need one able to survive.

Also you forgot the hanger.

It honestly depends on whether you believe dealing damage or survivability is more important.
