Well, whatever, I need to go to bed and it'll probably be resolved by the time I wake up. People can go with my plan or they can not. It is what it is.
I want to be ready to retaliate the instant the Orks launch a major offensive in here that we can repel, I don't want to give them another decade to make good their losses. That's why I want the Troopship ready to go right away.
I mean, we don't
need a troopship to launch a counterattack, we need one to
occupy the neighbouring system and permanently deal with the threat there, but once we smash this incoming wave of Orks we can still send our fleet over to smash all the Ork void-industry in the next system over so they can't rebuild anything meaningful for another 2-3 turns.
My thought process is:
-weather the Ork attack either this turn or next turn.
--if the attack happens this turn, launch the counterattack immediately next turn, and use the other 2 actions to design and build a dedicated troop transport and finish integrating Droma III
--if the attack doesn't happen this turn, next turn we integrate DIII, design the troop transport, and either build another battle frigate or maybe raise a unit of Ogryns or somesuch before weathering the Ork attack
-Once the Orks have spent their ships on the attack, we counterattack and smash their orbital assets and heavy industry in Unraka. If we have the troop ship already, send it in
after the system is secured to start occupation and cleansing, if not we can wait until we have it to send troops over
-once we have the system secure...idk. I suppose what we do with it will depend on how many humans might still be alive. At the least, building a space station to act as a supply and repair yard for whatever ships we post in the system long-term would probably be a good idea.
Anyway, here's the Pseudo-Sword class that I've put together
[X] Capricorn-Class Frigate
-[X] Length - 1.600 (+1)
-[X] Width - 400
-[X] Acceleration - 5.5 Gravities
-[X] Armor - Thick Single Hull (-1)
-[X] Shields - Two Emitters
-[X] Weapons - Light Missiles (Batteries), Light Lances (Tureted), Light Rotary Macro-Cannon (Turreted) (-4)
-[X] Equipment - Autoloaders, Armored Lifepods, Advanced Alloying (-3)
Dedicated combatant that's got lots of shooting and is decently tough. Simple enough.
JSYK, I'm making this design with the intent that our redesigned Aries-class destroyer will be a Torpedo Boat in the vein of the Cobra, since shoot-and-scoot ordinance skirmishers should be our smallest and fastest class IMO.
Edit:
[X] Sagittarius-class Frigate
I can also live with this design
