It keeps the Nurgulites away, and if you think that militaries don't need medicine and so on, I don't know what to tell you. :V
all I'm hearing is that you want to invite Slaanesh through giving our population free time by working less than 12 hour days :V
For real though, with the imperial drawdown we absolutely need to increase our defence efforts and the navy is the first line for that, like it or not. presumably we'll also inherit some PDF formations on Droma III when we integrate them, but I can't imagine that there's much left on the planet that can really stand up to an ork invasion.

We're going to also want to convert the desert planet too since otherwise they might go Chaos at being abandoned

Well, about that claim...

[X] Trading With Imperials - (Mandatory)
Weapons, Armor, Munitions, and Equipment from one to the other, IOUs, Currencies, Valuables, and Information from the other to one.
(Cost: Blocks any expansion of your Military at the current level.
Gain: Droma III is much better prepared to resist any Orks that make planetfall. You gain Imperial currencies.)

[X] Raised Them As Equals

+2 Food Production, -1 Civilian Infrastructure, -2 Heavy Industry, +1 Void Industry, -1 Medical Services, +1 Military Industry.
Assimilating Droma III will take 4 Actions.)
So I'm all for welcoming them into our fold but the hit to our heavy industry, infrastructure and medical services will have to be built up again soon-ish. The boost to void and military is very nice though given the orks are coming hopefully with these boosts we'll be able to build Light Cruisers to defend ourselves with and potentially larger army formations cause the two regiments we have aren't enough for when the orks arrive, And we'll probably need to raise an additional regiment or whatever alongside more ships.

You do. 2 Destroyers for 1 Action, 1 Frigate for 1 Action, and 1 Light Cruiser for 2 Actions.
Proper Logistics. They fuck.
ah, here's the post I was looking for: presumably this will advance with the increase in void industry, depending on how the numbers work it might be as much as 4 Destroyers, 2 Frigates or 1 Light Cruiser per action, but we'll definitely want to spend several actions just on construction before the orcs arrive, and it might be worthwhile to start with another level in void industry first to make the subsequent construction actions pay off more.

I mean, true I suppose? If I believed that two more Void Industry would allow us to churn out eight destroyers with a single action, I'd certainly be hyping up Void Industry more.

But I don't think that's the case.

we'll see what the actual progression is soon, and I doubt it'll be quadratic fwiw, but it'll be "more ships with more void industry" for sure, so the point stands either way. If the progression is slower that just necessitates more construction actions even more, cause we can't really go without a navy, either in the short or the long term.
Alternatively I also wouldn't be opposed to improving our Heavy Industry with an eye towards raising more troops, but either way we need more armament spending.
edit: or I guess I can be sniped by the OP right before posting, lol. Still, building more ships will be necessary and asap

So we should try to design a Frigate before the Orks arrive, but that's honestly probably all we have time for, tbh.
well, we can either have one frigate or four destroyers for the same two actions, since a frigate would need us to get another level of void industry first too. Assuming we'll want to fully integrate Droma III before the orks arrive we'll have five more actions (and assuming that integration actions can be taken in parrallel), which could either get us four frigates or ten destroyers if we did nothing else, but realistically we'll probably want to also get in touch with Droma VII, though full integration of them is highly unlikely in the time remaining.
