Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

And a modified plan for more Essence gain because I'm pretty sure we have 7 not 9 right now.
[X]Plan Walk Without Rhythm v2
-[X] Arlene is right it would be helpful to be disguised so that you do not draw anymore bullets or worse as you are wandering around in public
-[X] You should take a chance to rest and get some Essence back: One hour (4motes)
-[X] Dont split the party: Everyone goes to the temple
-[X]On way to temple, spend time in bottle of bleach to regen extra Essence: 15 minutes/1m
-[X]Crown Question: Focus RPG launcher 1: Identities of everyone currently suborned/mind-controlled by the person who ordered this weapon to be used in an ambush against us

Is it just my impression or is there less activity on SV (in quests at least) this January than usual?

Did anyone decide to use the internet less this year and is keeping to it for the first few weeks?

[X] Lydia should go with Oliver back to his temple, according to your vision whatever is in there is linked to the Final Dusk, maybe she can get the stones to share some insights
-[X] Everyone goes, no break to recharge, not when the Blampire will probably act this night
-[X] Spend the ride in a bottle, to regain at least one or two Essence

I'm assuming that going with this has us not openly revealing the bottle part to anyone.

Yeah, collecting a squad of highly augmented commandos from our Hell and pretending they're in costume seems like a good idea.

I mean, if the enemy is throwing around RPGs on the streets, then it's a bit late to worry about things getting a bit loud.

Actually, if we have them, something like armed stealth VTOL drones possessed by higher tier cyber-devils with actual powers would probably be possible. Just get the superhumanly strong cyber-commandos to carry them over. Or hell, a cyber-devil piloted loitering cruise missile we can have on standby.

I mean, I doubt that Sandra is expecting us to say 'I see your RPG ambush, and I raise you an airstrike', like she's the Taliban in the War on Terror.
I'd prefer to use demons here instead of commandos if we can.

This sort of operation is a good example of one where we can manage the risk of someone being permakilled closely enough to make the whole thing viable, but if we can get a strike force of people who don't stay dead when you kill them it seems like a better idea.

In the future I'm thinking we should try for a splendor to provide protection for this. They can do lingering curses after all, and have a soul theft option. Something like a symbol of the covenant of the empress to come that they swear to return to as well or something.

Arc 11 Post 59: When the Cows Come Home
When the Cows Come Home

12th of January 2007 A.D.

Running a finger along the lline of cold mental you pull the names of everyone who had been subborned as the hit men had been, eighteen names in all, more than you had hopes, less than you had feared. Alas it is not enough to restore your essence, though a brief rest to 'get flush out a headache' at least restores what you had lost

Lost 1 Essence -> Now at 6/15
Regained 2 Essence -> Now at 8/15

Between the flat top cowboy hat, the tight cotton and leather top that almost seems to evoke a corset and the wide golden buckle of your new jeans the girl in the mirror looks less Molly Carpenter and more like Jessie from Toy Story of single and ready to mingle, a sentiment which makes Harry flinch for some reason. Since he had not been willing to give up his coat for protection reasons his own disguise had come in the form of a three gallon hat and a pair of oversized aviators that take up such a large proportion of his face that you have to answer: "Come on space cowboy, we match!"

From the depths of a red hood there comes a vaguely Lydia like giggle. After picking up a curly red blond wig to hide her distinctive hair she had gone with Audrey Hepburn meets little red riding hood for her look while Tiffany had taken the dramatic step of divesting herself of most of her hair, bleaching what's left and taking up a jacket that has enough chains on it to make a suit of armor together with a pair of leather pants so tight they look spray painted on and shoes spiky enough to stab someone in a pinch.

All in all Arlene's people had done as good a job as time constraints allowed after which they sneak you into one of the main lounges where you can grab a drink, ice tea for you coffee for Harry, Red Bull for Lydia, plain sparkly water for Tiffany and then grab a beat up old Ford belonging to one of the club's employees to follow Adkin.

"I still say we should have taken a car at random to make sure nothing can follow us," Tiffany grumbles. "We could have paid them back later more than it was worth, a Vegas adventure. I'm sure they would have been into it."

Harry gives her a look, slightly blunted by the glasses as you pour yourself into a thermos and settle in to the dark hum of building power.

Lydia solicits opinions on whether she should have gone for stick-on nails and if the color of blush suits her or makes her look like a porcelain doll which gets Lash going into a eclectic barrage of advice starting with foundation and make up pairing and ending on what fabrics least show blood and other more exotic substances. Can't go wrong with natural fabrics apparently.

You Regained 1 Essence -> Now at 9/15
Lydia Regained 2 Essence -> Now at 7/7

The drive west through busy neon shrouded streets occasionally having to avoid the odd group of friends who have all had a bit too much to drink is suddenly broken up by a high thick wall. Horns are replaced with frogs and distant clashing music with the calls of night birds. There are still lights here of course, signs along the side of the road advertising a botanical garden and museum. In the distance you see a handful of adobe houses billed as 'sustainable living for the 21st century.' It all looks particularly odd with a pyramid in the middle, even though it does say 'greenhouse'.

Adkin gets out of the car, leaning on a silver-headed cane ahead and motions for you to follow him inside as people, guards or 'lay pallbearers' look at you with a combination of curiosity and carefully concealed dread. One thing you had not expected was a pair of them leading in a white cow with a sun disk painted between its horns in gold dust

Alas you do not have the chance toask questions The earth shakes, the glass panes shake as though a great wind had come upon them. The cow moos in panic adding to the pendemonium such tha no one but the four of you can hear Lydia's urgent whisper: "Er... Molly I think it's you, whatever lives in here does not like you in particular."

Tiffany nods.

What do you do?

[] Let the others go ahead, the last thing you need is more enemies with Sandra prowling around

[] Nope, you want to know what's going on here. Any Ra shaped rocks are going to have to deal with is

OOC: Lash gets her faith at dawn, she is not there yet.

A little offended that we are apparently more offensive then a death god or fallen angel. But I suppose that we are a corrupted/improved copy of the sun. A sun god might take offense.

Not in favor of splitting the party right now.

[X] Use your knowledge of etiquette to gain entry as a temporary ally against enemies of Creation
-[X] Etiquette excellency

There's nobody here to talk to though.
Actually, ok, true. So

[X] Plan the Allseeing Eyes
-[X] Use the current scene as a crown focus to learn why whoever is doing this doesn't like you in particular
--[X] Occult excellency to better understand the answer
-[X] Use etiquette excellency to placate them based on Crown's answer

The god is clearly somewhat present. Learn why they don't like us, then act on it. The answer should be an arcane secret, so it's not that expensive.

I want to use NWS on Ra.

It's probably not Ra though.

"By the voice in my heart at the speaking of the prayers, by wisdom of Wadjet revealed with her own words in living fire!" Oh there was plenty of fire in those words too, more perhaps than the old man had meant to reveal.

Lydia Uses 1 Essence -> Ghost Jade now at 0/2

Click... a piece of spent jade spun from Lydia Rhys' hand as she released it, spinning on its chain. "What do Ra's eyes happen to be made of at the moment? Stone, gold, gems? You're a Psychometrist aren't you?"

"And by that you call my insights false?" the old man scoffed and started to gesticulate. "I supose you should also tell the Catholic Church to empty out all the reliquaries of saints and cast the Shroud of Turin on the wind. I came with a warning for any who would heed it and I cam with a request for she who offers comfort to the dead. In your presence will be revealed the last preparations for the Descent."

Even though good things rarely came to stones pretending to be gods Lydia was curious...
At least Lydia thinks it's probably not Ra.

Maybe a Tulpa or other spirit that is getting shaped into something Ra-like by the Pallbearer's faith and magic?
Or he's just making himself believe that while taking psychometric readings for divine voices and there's something entirely unlike Ra behind this all?

Whatever it is, it doesn't look like the real sungod is involved, at least directly.
