The Door Across the Way
12th of January 2007 A.D.
If I was alone I could just outrun them, you think, thoughts of vengeful Greek Gods foremost on your mind then the penny drops. "Hang on!"
Lost 1 Essence -> Now at 10/15
"Hang on to wh... Whoa!" Lash's question trails off into an exclamation as you grab her Lydia and Harry under the arms and book it down the corridor the sound of grinding stone on stone echoing behind you.
One,
two doors pass in the speed of your passing, the first golden the second silver that would not look out of place on the Strip 'above' then a third door of bronze burnished mirror-bright and quite locked.
Of course it's locked Molly, it's a prison. "Darn, I'm going to have to carve this up," you shout, sword already in hand. The guard statues can't be more than a ten seconds behind.
"Not that one!" Lydia shouts. "Feels like... trap."
Tiffany curses, in some guttural, likely long forgotten tongue. "I've got this, close your eyes."
And so you do. A precious few seconds pass by, more cursing then see it even through your eyelids a flash of white light that settles down into a steady even radiance. Reflected in the bronze door, the
false door you now realize, is one across from it of iron though casual scrutiny reveals only a plain limestone wall. Using the reflection Lash reaches for the latch in the hidden door and opens it, giving you all time to duck inside just in time.
The room on the other side has limestone walls are painted vivid greens and browns, almost eerily bright blues making up a scene of the oasis in the midst of the harsh New Mexico desert that had given the city the name Las Vegas. Against this backdrop, sprawled on a bed that is at least half a bench to your eyes a man passed out. He is thin and pale with dark hair already showing a receding hairline, but handsome almost because of it than in spite of it, as a flaw might make a sculpture all the more intriguing: Kenneth Mayeda.
"What's wrong with him?" Harry asks, or starts to at least, the last word can only be guessed against the sound of stone claws screeching against the door
"We need to get out of here, come on!" Even as Lydia speaks the words you can feel the coiling of her essence on the air, starting to blast a portal back to the mortal world.
"We don't know where would leave us," you say, but she shakes her head and points at the door you had passed through.
"We do know where
that goes and it does not sound like a good time."

OOC: Alas very short, but that is kind of the nature of being in the middle of a high speed chase. For anyone wondering Harry would normally need only 2 succeses to open a way, but he is in the middle of a domain. Exalted do not have to deal with that since in exchange it runs you out of a limited resource.
