Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

For charity and Michael yeah no they're not living past normal human lifespans at least not without us or someone else doing shifty shit. Weird to even suggest it really. There's zero examples of a normal human living that long it's wizards, scions, changelings which now that I think about it are scions, and white court that have lifespan shit. I'm not even sure it applies to all Scions really. Oh and like certain kinds of werewolves and shit, I imagine there's an immortal here and there, and like strange case by case shit but it's not like the swords extend life span. Oh and denarians.

By the way nemesis infected probably count as non mortal enough they can't just keep summoning more outsiders right? Otherwise like it'd be game over right? Like I imagine they'd just be summoning outsiders regularly.

No need to get complicated or overly generous here, IMO. Lilly gave us the perfect reagent to use for this Splendor, so why don't we just use it for what she needs? That preserves our reagents and prevents anyone from understanding exactly what we're capable of, crafting wise.

OK so this is the errors spotted in 5 different chapters as I caught up to the current one. As always the underlined errors are in the order of reading:

I was worried about what you were going to say, but Iris told me not to, you translate mentally, restraining an urge to pet her case which would just confuses poor Clippy even more. In he end you settle on a simple: "Punishing you for failure would achieve nothing save to harm you. In the first heady days after her incarnation Tiffany had thought of targeting a church, the sort that handled pans and snakes with equal fervor, promised miracles even as they divested the desperate of their savings. show them what real miracles looked like, but as entertaining as that might have been to flex against, good sense prevailed. To strike at the truly hollow, the utterly heartless she'd have to go for the big boys and if some televangelist with five Rolex watches, four luxury cars, three mansions, two mistresses and a private jet got shown up in front of his congregation he would go on TV to bleat about it, it would get her noticed when she was already on notice. On the other hand if she went small time, someone just starting to walk the wide and winding two faced road of the false preacher it might get her noticed with unfriendly eyes Up Above. She shivered and not from the cold wind blowing in the dusty curtains. Harry should really get some more color in here, maybe red and black trim.

The apartment, unlike other places of its sort made no attempt to feel like a medical practice. It smelled pleasantly of lavender and mint, most open surfaces covered in green, broad leaves and carefully cultivated vines. The ninth floor Hanging Gardens of Chicago, Tiffany thought with more whimsy than scorn. There were worse places to spend one's time if it was about to be cut short. No sooner had the thought passed though her mind that she saw the boy, wan and wide-eyed the sweater hanging off him awkwardly, the sheer physicality of death struck her. He had a few months left in him. The woman sitting next to him who introduced herself as Mrs Ford, knew it as well as Tiffany did, she knew her son would not see another Christmas. Part of her was already mourning him, clear as daylight behind those dark brown eyes.

If you are saying that Tiffany's/Lash's faith endures in her purpose this is a very confusing way of putting it. Is it intentional?

Gusts of wind throw up the soft, unsettled snow into wintry ghosts crowned with light and draped in smoke over Navy Pier: vivid crimson. blazing white, writ in flame onto sky and over water the exuberance of the crowds below made manifest upon the celestial plane, awaiting with hope with fear, with daring or with dread another year. There is a particular energy or lack thereof to the first Monday back to school, freshmen shuffling their feet, stuttering excuses about missing homework, seniors peering blearily at the face of the morning sun as though it had personally offended them, the two guys passing out smokes behind the gym being too loud about it and getting busted by the the vice-principal, no doubt telling himself that this time he'll get them good. He won't and he knows it but everyone makes New Years' resolutions they can't keep, like Izzy resolving to kick her soda habit and lose ten pounds, which she does not need, or Alec resolving that he's going to... join the Navy? The hum of many voices fills the air, not all of them English echoes upon echoes treading until it might almost seem as though the station was in regular operation again, at least if one could ignore the slight green tint to the light and the very much non-standard pictograms marching across the walls. Dogs raise their heads in steely, blocks serpents coil around the edges, many armed figures take up poses of prayer and meditation, stencils and tags between them in hands less expert perhaps but no less enthusiastic.

People are moving in and out more now, agents of the Hand out on reconnaissance into the city, mortal Jade Dogs looking for work or, having found some in a place that does not inquire about their nonstandard living arrangements, going out and rebuilding what lives they may. When they are not redecorating kids are even getting home-schooled, much to their chagrin and the relief of their parents, with some help from Iris who finds that explaining simple concept until they have been absorbed is an excellent way to learn herself while also seeming less alien to the community she is not a part of. Not so different from her work with isolated tribes around the edges of Five-Courts trade routes and contracts.

Between stopping to ask the newcomers how they have been adapting, including feeding habits and any special needs they may have, settling a handful of small disputes of the kind that always pop up when people are thrown together and adjusting the light levels in a part of the complex to deal with a trio of ghouls who are particularly sensitive to it it's evening by the time you flip off the lights, turn on the music and transition to a place much more macabre, though perhaps in its own way just as hopeful.

The counter-argument is canon biblical lifespans. Noah lived for 950 years.

Ok, sure.

[X] Plan Exalted Effort
-[X] Use two foci to make a 3 dot splendor (Mystically fortified Protection against Possession, Mind Control, and Iron)

--[X] Head of Arianna Ortega (6th Generation Equivalent)
--[X] Red Court Elder Corpse (7th generation equivalent)
-[X] Use the foci for Crown questions before using them for crafting
--[X] Arianna: Where are the gods that this one stolen from held?
--[X] Red Court Elder: List of all covert Red Court agents
-[X] STUNT: The form the charm takes under your hands is a that of a small, burrowing owl carved out of a single piece of bone, so intricate as to seem alive and ready to take flight at any moment. The talisman, and it is clear that this is more than a mere decoration, hangs from a triple strand chain, links of your brass, summer fae gold, and human iron weaving around themselves in an alien facsimile of DNA, interlacing and reinforcing each other, all existing in perfect inseparable harmony. If one was to count them, there's precisely 125 links in each strand, threes and fives of Fates invoked together.
--[X] Talisman Mechanics: 3 Dot Adornment Splendor: Form of Dreams and Nightmares, Form of Portentous Moonlight, Form of Steadfast Earth, Sacred Protection,
Mystic Fortification (-2 DC on Willpower rolls to resist possession or mind-control including multi-element attacks)

@DragonParadox question concerning backround worldbuilding to alter the description above:
1) What is the metal associated with Summer Fae?
2) Does "threes and fives referencing Fates" make sense from Molly's perspective? She already associates 5 with Fates, but does she also associate 3 for their modern version?

EDIT:
More detailed design notes.
The main number of the design is 3. 3 is the number of Lily's souls - Hun, Po, and Mantle, existing out of alignment, and 3 are the number of Exalt's Soul, Great Maker's craft lending its perfection to the design. 3 are the number of Fates, of whom Summer Lady as a Fae Queen is a reflection, a piece, a shard. Thus, 3 are the number of chains that hold the talisman, interlinking in a triple helix reminiscent of DNA, which offers a threefold defense - against Possession, such as enjoyed by Celestial Exalts, against Mind Control, such as a mantle both grants and threatens with, and against Iron weapons of mortal men. On a meta-level, this is a 3 dot splendor, also lending further resonance to the design.
You should probably note the freebies from the forms in the benefits. +1 difficulty to affect the wearer with glamor, +1 soak, and the ability to passively interact with spirits/see across the gauntlet. Which she can probably already do, but this is effort free.

Edit:

Also, the minor cosmetic power of the form of dreams and nightmares.

Sure, added the list in. It's quite an extensive one, really.

@DragonParadox, the rules say that protection from Earth gives immunity to "being crushed, cut, or pierced by stone or metal". Is it reasonable to interpret that this grants protection against fae weakness to iron?

I think it would work in regards to cut, crush and pierce. Maybe somewhere in the middle between fae and human for general interaction with iron. Something like reddening on skin contact, maybe blisters but not full on concentrated acid?

Any thoughts on a minor power for it? I'm partial to the idea of having it always "happen" to be positioned in a way that lets it face the viewer alone regardless of how many viewers they are, because weird eye shit is Molly's mark. Seems about as impossible as ignoring gravity.

This feels like one of the places the rules should bend a little. It's divine protection where the fluff is that the craftsman defines what is not permitted to harm the user based on the form. Getting half way to covering the real problem posed by an element would be sort of lame.

Hmm... I would say it would make iron do leather rather than agg around her but it would still interfere with her magic, this is strictly about being cut or pierced.

Tangentially related, but what does that umbra benefit actually do in this context if anything?

WoD Umbral stuff has some weird rules about what can enter and leave, but the nevernever doesn't have all the same restrictions.

I think that's only for Fascinations:
As the basis for a Fascination, it may have one minor impossible feature such as floating in defiance of gravity, reflecting people's true selves when looked into, or aging backwards in time.
For Adornments it raises Glamour resistance.

So, it still interferes with her magic, but can't cut / pierce / crush her? Something like that? I was mostly asking about being poisoned from merely touching it.

It turns the damage from agg to lethal, she would still get hurt by cold iron, but only so much as a human being hit by an equivalent weapon.

? I thought that you previously ruled that if attack is one-element, then the protection remains absolute? Or is this because any attack on a fae using iron is a two-type attack (magic and actual iron)?

As far as what the splendor should look like, I suggest we consider ash diamonds. As in, diamonds artificially grown from the cremation ash of one of the vampire bodies.

I feel like adding protection from iron is a bit much. Also don't want to use our only 3 dot ingredient.

We aren't using a 3 dot ingredient in my plan. We are using a 2 dot one (Arianna's head) and an additional 1 dot one (Elder head). This is a bit of a hack, we are essentially making a 2 dot splendor, then immediately upgrading it to a 3 dot one.

I think Gossamer is our 3 dot ingredient and we are definitely not using that. Also, please note that for iron it's not perfect protection. Remember that this amulet is not just for Lily. This is us advertising our potential services to fae nobles. We really, really want to make a very good impression if we want further commissions.

I'm kind of wondering if there should be a thematic/mythic bent to it. By which I mean, the core element of the design is about retaining the remnants of Lily's mortality, so perhaps the protection from iron comes specifically from shrouding her in that remembrance of mortality. "A little more human, a little less fey, not for iron to so easily slay"

Edit: at the other end of things, I think partial iron protection is actually shit for advertisement because it seems unlikely to GET advertised. Iron still HURTS, just not as much. Not something to show off at parties

Well, using the burrowing owl form for a talisman is a private in-joke. I am not super attached to it - if you have a suggestion, I'm open to change on this one. I want to keep the triple chain of brass, gold and iron.

Also, as I understand it, iron won't hurt (to touch at least). The protection at least makes her no more vulnerable to it than a human.

It is also that I don't know if I actually want most fey to be even partial protected from iron.
True, but aside from that, this is also about letting Lily keep her humanity, and being able to handle iron is a part of that. Plus, as a three dot splendor, we improve her mind protection (against multifactor attacks) by 3 DC ratings. That's a lot.
