Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
It's the tie to our lineage trait after all, and that will be very prominent in the culture section with Hanyi who shares it.
It's also the project about knowing and understanding what we want, so that we don't destroy it by accident. Probably something quite worthwhile to be thinking about during this next bit of the summit.

I think Wind Thief might have more use for tracking down Still Waters Deeping? Might not have the same value with deciding what to do once they're caught, though.

Boundary better since while both relate to culture segment, Winter crown won't really give xp benfit as much as would in any other turn.

Mmm, so with @yrsillar saying on discord that he's only planning 1-2 more projects for FFS before G6 now, we do actually have leeway I think. My last estimate had us reaching G6 by month 23 barring any sudden drug drops. If we only have 1-2 more projects then we actually have ~2 turns of free space here.

We're on deck for one more part (The Cultural/Information exchange part), but what Part 4 looks like is apparently going to be heavily dependent on how many flags we've tripped and how many of the Investigation Phases we've cleared by then.

It's like the end of those Choice of Games titles, where depending on what you choose you might have a series of hard choices to try not to lose everything (because you're going to lose something) or a triumphant victory march through the thrilling climax. :V

Alectai pointed out on the discord that we ended Borders and Military with more White Plume points than we had going in.
That is hilarious.
The people of the Emerald Seas who know what Xia Ren is like: "How the actual flying FUCK is a Weilu weeb able to handle General "fuck the past" Genocide so well?!"

I was wondering if it's really fair to call us a weilabou given that the most hardcore Weilu faction around hates us with a passion, but on reflection I feel like that boosts our weilabou cred.

"If we succeed on the informational and cultural exchanges, we will be well placed to negotiate the foreign quarter notion properly… both as an expansion to the embassy and for future settlements in the Wall," Cai Renxiang said quietly, steam hissed, and she carefully poured her tea, dark, nearly black liquid arcing delicately into her cup.

So it seems like the Foreign Quarter is going to be the focus of last week's negotiations, but it's going to be greatly dependent on the result of the three previous sections.
We have done great on these two so far, so only one more to go before the final stretch!

"Hey, I'm not that bad, I'm just relaxed with you," Ling Qi said. And a little tipsy now maybe, she shouldn't have drunk that so quickly. She furrowed her brow and circulated her qi, kicking her toxin processing organs into quicker and more efficient function.

Thank you, Zheng Ascendant! For allowing even a winter spectre the chance to get wasted!

"How will we even advance a proper campaign?" Ling Qi wondered about the caves and the corruption. "What, is your Mother going to burn a borehole big enough for a division and its supply lines down into the earth?"

She chuckled, as did Gan Guangli. Cai Renxiang did not.

No comment. Well, only one: Holy shit. Shenhua doesn't fuck around.

"When the summit concludes I intend to apply for Xia Lin's permanent assignment," Cai Renxiang replied.

Yes! I really like Xia Lin character and she is already part of the core crew for me.
Maybe then we'll actually dedicate some action to her... I mean, the sheer amount of work and hardships we have already put her through.

Imagine if we had succeeded in convincing her on establishing shared military bases without losing WP's favor.
We would have caused Heart Demons on a lot of Ways, Xia Lin's the first.

About the vote, not nearly as invested as the last one (thank goodness, I needed a breather).
Boundaries was an awesome fit for the mind infiltration of this last act, but the moment is already past.
Winter Crown seems a far better fit for the Cultural section, especially since Hanyi's presence has been confirmed.

I'm also adamant about doing a FFS Project each turn so we can "complete" it, just to the point of fulfilling breakthrough requirements.
Even if mathematically we advanced at almost the same time, I would rather get it done with sooner so we have less factors to consider when choosing projects in the future.

…What are we going to do, after the summit, anyway?" Ling Qi wondered. She'd been focused on this for so long, she might have lost track.

"Spend time resolving some of the many issues about our land I suppose," Gan Guangli wondered. It would be good to solve at least one of the troubles."

Speaking of which, we haven't gotten this month's vote on fief management, have we @yrsillar?
Even if the crew can't go to Snowblossom, obviously, we should still be able to order the start of projects from here.
Maybe excluding projects with extra votes as the Luo herds or the Manor placement which work better narratively if they are on site? Just the plain "improve fishing/agriculture/quarry" projects.
Just kinda sucks to have an entire month without progress.

For reference, this was the winning plan last vote. And both the Granary and Docks should already be finished,

[X] Plan: Funny name
-[X] Subsistence Granary
-[X] Fishing Docks

I think we're retroactively going to get our Fief stuff at the end of the Summit, since the current plans I don't think were doing anything major.

We're not doing anything here because it would just disrupt the arc.

And also it doesn't matter since everything is being done offscreen anyway so things can be done retrospectively.

I'll probably put it on vote when I go to take my end of arc break and do it retroactively as the opener of the next section, to avoid breaking up the pacing.

Now I used to be a proponent of doing Winter's Crown during the summit, but, if we do want to utterly style on the Meng Elder with a gods defying technique no Green or Cyan should have any rights to possess then Boundaries Untrodden is absolutely the way to go.

That certainly isn't going to spook White Sky :V

I can't wait to see how the campaign unfolds. If I remember right, there's still going to be challenges with corruption and such, which has a bigger effect on more advanced cultivator. A lot of potential to establish ourselves as a war hero and lead the charge since peak green/cyan will be the troops with highest cultivation able to operate for long periods underground.

I like the summit and the cultural shenanigans, and especially all the spycraft, but it'll be good to go back to a relatively straightforward war. It would also let Gan Guangli and Xia Lin shine since it's their arena of expertise.

"When the summit concludes I intend to apply for Xia Lin's permanent assignment," Cai Renxiang replied. "Meng Dan… much depends on the outcome of your spycraft."

Ling Qi's cheer faded. "Shu Yue does not believe Meng Deming is the ultimate culprit but… what will happen if it is found to be someone among the Meng, an Elder even?"

Gan Guangli's expression grew troubled. "...It depends on too many details."

Her liege shook her head, expression pinched. "I cannot believe the clan as a whole would approve of this. The Meng's very conservatism precludes it."

I really hope Meng have nothing to do with this and they're just an elaborate catspaw. It's hard to imagine what the clan would gain from this action, and the risk is so huge (basically treason), that it should be immediately obvious. Even for a rouge agent, what is there to gain, really? From the motive angle the ith and sky nomads are the obvious culprits, followed by a leftover Hui.

"Oh no, it's more of a uh… fizzy taste,," Ling Qi said, taking another long drink. Best to drain it before it shattered the cup. She made a note to use a sturdier one next time. Maybe a metal lining?

LQ as a seventh realm: "Ah, this heat death of the universe really hits the spot! So bubbly!"

Winter's Crown: What ends and what does not. You have grappled with power and what it means to hold it, what it means for it to be held over you. What does it mean to choose to end, what does it mean to stay your hand. Winter cares not, feels not, but though you wield it, you both care and feel. You're ice is both beauty and horror, deathly cold and the promise of a new day beyond it. But without understanding power and why you wield it, there can only be brittleness and self deception. Seek the Want, the black lightless darkness from which all else emanates, and understand yourself. Advances Winter's Heart by 1. +1 XP to Want and Power. +30 Physical Cultivation XP. Unlocks 1 project. (0/5)

  • Boundaries Untrodden: To slip between, through and around, through the tiniest keyhole or the open window. Round the mountains or through even the veil of death. So walks the thief, who must bypass boundaries in the same way that a bird must fly. But to step across or through, one must understand that which they will violate. Alters and advances the Breeze in the Vault technique. +1 XP to Want and Mystery. Unlocks a new project.

The choice of arts right now are between understanding yourself (Winter's Crown) and understanding your enemy (Boundaries Untrodden).
