Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

But he will be. I don't think we have done anything that would change that.
We uninvolved him from and took care of the event that would have been his in.

So did Dresden for Marcone though that was probably him being counted as an emissary of Winter.
Harry wasn't Winter's anything at that time. He got Marcone's help and gave him support as a representative of the White Council in his role as Warden Dresden.

I just don't think anything else is in Molly's character, especially not "Imma go sit on the fancy chair!"
E: (Even though I agree it's the most dramatically appropriate action :p )
I'm voting for the throne in part because I think it's the best way to help them. Take control of the situation, and then order help for the friends and guests of the Empress.

yeah already realized that.

At this point I sort of expect that we might start to be offered bribes to join the Accords because our very existence without being a member devalues them.

But honestly the Accords don't currently offer us anything all the protections they give we can already enforce better then we can expect others to do for us. We don't need them for respect we already have that.

If a follower of ours says "I am under the protection of Molly Carpenter" that offers them about the same protection as quoting some law of the Accords.

Can I get a link for this?
Please?

Winter being a nation of hundreds of millions of people and entities to hold their position =/= Winter being a nation of hundreds of millions of square kilometers. Its the people and power they have access to that make. Not the amount of area they control. Most of Faerie is unclaimed even now, even though the Courts claim jurisiction.

Well, that and the travel paths they claim control over through Faerie.

I've dealt with bureaucracies before, enough to not be that charitable.
Call 911 before doing coronation forms.

We dont, actually. Medicine 0, remember?
I would assume that we would be able to notice any magic surprises left behind, but we havent actually spent any time on them yet.
Get some medical experts and send them off.

THEN you can face this shit.
You seriously think bureaucracy is gonna be slow in medical attention? Like they have to have these things here? I'm 100% sure people are heading our way already. Why would we run anywhere instead?

I mean no we don't have the respect at best we have unknowing fear we're still a largely unknown. Also you know its likely useful for shit like trade and information gathering.

To make something clear Molly has social excellencies and she is actually the demiurge who contains this realm, while taking the throne would make that clear to... everyone watching she is perfectly capable of communicating with Guardian of the Brazen Flower to get healers here on the double, it is just that for the audience (and there are cameras) her first action would be to pull down a screen and argue with security to get some healers in here. The question before you is twofold:
  1. How much do you think Izzy and Alec need the help?
  2. What kind of image do you want to strike upon your appearance, both to your people and to Harry and Michael?

okay so we just need to overreact and buy that charm that lets us put a taboo on a subject so no one will ever speak of the faux pass. :p

This Element creates a mystical "pocket" realm, accessible only through the Splendor. The Splendor must possess at least one Form Element with a character, which both defines the style and possibilities of the private realm, and defines the shape of the object which serves as means of entry to the realm. The Splendor must also possess a location-type Form element, such as Form of the Hearth. This dictates the size of the pocket Realm, rather than causing the Splendor to affect a widespread area as it normally would.
As an Adornment, only the user may enter this pocket realm. They must pay a point of Willpower while wearing the Splendor to do so. They leave a faint mystical imprint upon the world while in their pocket realm, and must spend another point of Willpower to return to the world at the point of that imprint.
As a Fascination, the Splendor itself serves as a doorway into and out of the pocket Realm, at least for those who know the trick of triggering Private Idaho to admit them. Those already inside may leave at any time through an obvious doorway, unless other Elements are used to confound such attempts.
If the Splendor is destroyed or banished (or, in the case of Adornments, removed) while anyone is inside the pocket realm, they are violently ejected back into the real world at their point of departure, taking (Splendor's rating) in levels of lethal damage.

This Element can only be incorporated into Fascinations.
The Exalt touches a spot of land and enchants up to several city blocks worth of ordinary wilderness, urban, or suburban landscape, or touches a single megastructure such as a skyscraper when summoning the Splendor. It exists as an enchantment cast over the entire massive building or defined district ("all of Compton"). The Splendor is coded with conditions and instructions on how to interact with the affected region. Root Elements such as Beautiful Lie (see p. XX) can then go to work upon any valid target in the area. Realizing that there's something weird about the enchanted area requires a Perception + Awareness roll against difficulty (4 + Splendor's rating).
If this is the only Form Element a Splendor has, the difficulty of rolls to resist it are lowered by one, and it manifests in the form of a feature that would make sense in the environment (a mailbox on a corner, a parked car, an old Xerox machine) but is slightly out of date or out of fashion.

So, cheapest pocket realm is 5 points, which is a two dot splendor. Highest is 9 points, which is a 4 dot splendor.

As long as we're following them, I dont think anyone is going to make much of a fuss.
Its if we start shading shit that its likely to become an issue.

I used to work in a hospital.
Like I said, I have zero faith in bureaucracy prioritizing people's health over their abstract procedures.

Yeah, Im totally happy with a first impression that says Molly prioritizes action and the wellbeing of those she's responsible for over formal protocol.

does make us look a little dumb when it looks like nothings happened to them. The problem may just be their essentially magically tired.

@DragonParadox, could you please clarify? The voting option
[] First thing's first, get Izzy and Alec to some kind of medical facility, you can deal with the rest of this later.
says get to the medical facility, so I assume Molly would not leave her friends until they are at least conscious, fully medically checked up and she comforted them and explained the situation to them, so quite some time until she is actually taken the Throne, upwards of several hours.

Yet this
everyone watching she is perfectly capable of communicating with Guardian of the Brazen Flower to get healers here on the double,
reads as that the healers would arrive into the Throne room and Izzy and Alec would be treated there, and Molly could get on the Throne and be fully recognized immediately after calling for medical help.

Which would it actually be?

[X] Ascend the Throne, he's right you can handle the rest of this later, but if people are waiting, if people are watching they should see a ruler, not a confused girl
-[x] Activate Leadership Excellency.

Overawe the residents with Molly's spender.

I should have made the vote more clear that is my bad. To clarify now, she would be calling the paramedics, which come with their own means of getting people to the nearest medical facility. Said experts would then roll medicine, what Molly does after that depends on their reaction.

-[x] Activate Shintai, and Leadership Excellency.

Overawe the residents with Molly's spender.

You are already in shintai, it is the first thing described in the update, specifically and also how the throne matches it

Thank you very much.

One of those can be destroyed, right? That seems like a glaring design issue right there.

Would you care about looking dumb over confirming the health of people you love?
I have personally seen people die because they underestimated physical signs.
I have very strong feelings about that sort of thing.

In this case, our friends have been in the hands of a naagloshii for an unknown period of time.
We have no reason IC to trust that he did nothing to them. Or even that he undid everything that he did while they were in his hands; he might have left that up to us.

What Seeker might consider a mild tweak of our nose might be nothing of the sort for our mortal friends.

Let me remind you: They are unconscious.

They remained unconscious through their transfer from a van to the ground, and through a dimensional transition. They are still unconscious while Molly has moved them to chairs and with four people having conversations around them.
Whether thats due to an ongoing magical effect, or something physical? We dont know.

Im significantly more alarmed than many of you appear to be.

[X] First thing's first, get Izzy and Alec to some kind of medical facility, you can deal with the rest of this later.

Clarified by QM I think this is best. We are setting the tone and "Practical and dealing with problems before her" is a tone that is reasonable to set.

All splendors can be:
Splendors are no more durable than their physical form would indicate (a Splendor which takes the form a wooden mask is exactly as sturdy as you'd expect a wooden mask to be). If destroyed, they are banished back to their owner's heart and cannot be re-summoned for the rest of the current story
The best defense as far as I can see is
The Splendor is shrouded in a psychic ward that makes it unthinkable to even consider harming it in any way. Anyone attempting to do so must succeed at a Willpower roll against difficulty (4 + Splendor's rating) and then spend a Willpower point on each turn in which they attempt to do harm to the Splendor.

They are in enchanted sleep. Unless we consider naagloshii stupid, he wouldn't have harmed them unduly, as that would have made trying to avoid fighting us futile. He knows we value them.

I mean they might be trapped in endless nightmares right now. That doesn't cause lasting harm and let's him scratch his sadistic itch.

1)You are assuming they are in enchanted sleep. They could just as easily have been drugged. Or first enchanted, then drugged.
And if so, we know nothing about what they were given, or the dosage.
Especially if it was one of his mortal minions that did it.

2)His carelessness could get people killed. His testing us could get them killed.
Do remember that his initial plan for delivering them to Molly was, and I quote:
He is planning to put Izzy and Alec up in the park in some way that is painful and terrifying, but not crippling, by the standards of Broken Seeker's kind a show of goodwill, by any humane standard torture, an invitation to ante up and pay him something 'for his trouble'. Well you are not going to let him eat some aspect of Harry that's for sure, but maybe you could offer the dark spirit a dead vampire... before the interest you have sparked in him will turn once more to thoughts of how best to how to murder and devour you.

Interest of one sort does not preclude the other, if anything they feed on each other.

What do you do?
He is a god of pain and terror for a reason. Even his goodwill is harmful to mortals.
The more so if it was one of his minions doing the scutwork.

In the worse case they have been given a deadly drug that will shortly kill them. In which case their bodies immediately reform. They are safer right now than they were in their mother's womb.

Someone with mental/psychic defenses should no-sell that.
IPM should certainly bounce that.

Do you genuinely think Molly values the trappings here over sparing her friends the experience or pain of death?

Note that she doesnt actually know just yet that immortality is a thing in her Hell.
So thats not even a consideration in her thinking yet.
