Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Thought we got a ruling on that so that non-combat applications wouldn't be totally screwed by time constraints. Was that just crafting?

Even if it isn't, we still need TTC for the ritual/setup.
We can use it for stuff like crafting, extending the use to essentially be scene-long, and I think even for path magic, but the rationale was that Ancient Sorcery specifically was special. You already need to be exalt-level to even access it, and so you couldn't extend the excellency beyond a few minutes.

The Yama Kings do get to participate in reality, though not as bad as in WoD because this world is less terrible. More persuasion less brute force, though in their dealings with non-humans like the Wan Kuei brute force is a lot more of an option since all of them are escapees from their fate.
Open Market has been digitized since the 80s, a trip down to the Chicago mercantile exchange. And Molly has better data them people that spend 200k a month to have a hardline fiber cables straight lined form the exchange to the build next door, for hyper algromems to scalp in the market in the micro second, lag it takes everybody else to respond.

Update to add the Hellscry check and willpower insurance in case that's a dealbreaker for anyone.

If that's the case then I'll just take it out and replace it with one burn for social reasons. The single extra essence probably won't make a difference overall.

[X] Bid them go
-[X] Activate intimidation excellency for the winter fey flex
-[X] Activate ATB and HC with essence, try to detect nemesis
-[X] Activate TTC and IPM with willpower
-[X] Spend willpower to ensure ritual success.
-[X] [Stunt] Drawing herself up, the glamor seems to sublimate from Molly like ice in a pan.
—[X] Surrounded by Winter's monsters and caught between two of its Queens, something boils out from behind her eyes. Invisible and intangible, but as demanding as the kiss of a branding iron on bare skin for those without the relevance to warrant acknowledgment.
—[X] Reaching out her hand, Molly grasped an implement from thin air as if it was always there. Unlike like so many others before it, this was no mechanical monstrosity - a special difference shown even by the hells to its purpose.
—-[X] At exactly five and one half feet long, it stood an exactly straight bar of steel. Every angle unnaturally perfect from the flattened cap to exactingly sharpened tip. The first tool, and first division of natural chaos into shaped order
—[X] Held just above the floor as she turned, it seemed to almost drag the shadows inwards without touching them, whispering secrets at her feet as they come.
—[X] With a smooth calm that seemed cling like smoke Molly spoke. " I think it would be preferable to clear the room".

Which means that, according to the White God's rules, they are putting their mortality on the line.

And given that its canon for Kindred of the East that a Yama King was killed as late as the fourteenth century for fucking around in the mortal world and having a group of kueijin fuck right back, leaving him vulnerable to his rivals, they are probably a lot more circumspect.

Nevermind Ravana who got his entire Hell of Lanka burned to the ground as a reprisal.
Basically we can be the world's greatest investor. Not because we know anything about tech or finance or even law, but because we are a supernaturally good judge of character.
Also because you can steal absurd amounts of information in a way no one mundane can track and do hilarious amounts of inside trading. The world is only going to get more digitized so it's only going to get easier.
And this is something that Molly AND Lydia can collaborate on.
Especially since Lydia has Intelligence 4 as a Key Attribute, and so can roll Intelligence + Finance + Excellency.
And thats in addition to simply giving some restless ghosts whose originals were stockbrokers something to do.

An investment firm of 2x Exalts with a coterie of cyberdevils and ghosts as business and market analysts and brokers is broken in ways that are probably new to the setting.

Mab can participate in real world and is only mortal-ish on Halloween.

I see the easiest way to make obscene amounts of money, and start of wide scale social reform, is Expression 9 xp 2 dots and excellency. 10 dice +2, -4DC, to write of book, poems, tv episode, average 5+ success. Just look at how much HP made, and that was probably only 3 or success on average.

To take another crack at this overall; letting them stay gives us reputational benefits because of what they will see and say. Under oath this is impossible, but they still know the information and can therefore be compelled by enemies to reveal it under some conditions. Which makes it all pointless.

Without the oath they can still spread information, so we get something, but it blocks us from trying to take a real shot a nemesis and gives free information to a crowd of strangers. Perhaps not a lot, but something.

The alternative is to kick them out, which reduces our reputation gain, but that can be mitigated.

A show like my stunt doesn't give away as much and still connects us to the events to occur reasonably well.

To my eye it strikes the best available balance of opportunity and benefit.

Really for something like this we should always have a stunt, so if you don't agree with me at consider adding one for what you do want.

In my decision calculus I take into account two things:
1) I want to at least try to teach Mab this Ancient Sorcery spell.
2) I want to use MiM on Nemesis. It's important to remember that right now it's Halloween. Immortals can be killed. So, the scary part about MiM (that it works always and absolutely if the conditions apply) won't get out anyway.

The Yama Kings aren't as universally imbedded because this is the DF. Plenty of guys are competing for the same space and the imports don't necessarily get to shove everything aside to assume the same levels of mortals influence they had in their base setting.

Not sure on the first, because that's our bargaining chip and Mab is still Mab. I think better of her than some here, but I don't think we should so lightly empower her.

On the second, your letting them stay pushes us towards breaking a promise but doesn't actually give us a real benefit. If that's all you want, then send them away.

If you want to split the difference, impress them first and then send them away. Much less risk and the same or similar rewards.

The point is that I want to spread Sapphire Ritual of Exorcism as wide as possible. Definitely to at least Titania, Mab, Odin. It's a good spell that is hard to use against us (yes, it can be used on cyberdevils and on fomori we make, but those would be easily dealt with anyway). I don't want us to be a single point of failure in the whole "remove Nemesis from its victims" strategy. I would much rather trade it for some ancient lore. Ideally, I want secrets of Mantle making.

Molly does not know about Halloween.

Ergo she does not know to even attempt to hide MiM's capabilities behind it.
If you don't want Mab to know, don't use it. It's the only way.

Used against us isn't the primary issue here. Ancient sorcery is serious business and exorcisms aren't always benign.

Someone exorcising the Archive would be catastrophic, for example, and who knows what else might be learned from it.

Limited duplication to avoid being the single point of failure might be warranted, but not simply as far and as wide as possible.

You're jumping to a cool sounding conclusion without playing all the angles again.

I would argue that that sort of media sensation is about more than a single roll, more than just writing rolls even. the cultural context, the quality of the adaptations, the way it was marketed, all that contributed.

The ritual could be used to exorcise a Fallen from the Coin.

Not from the host, but from the Coin itself. Leaving it free...

COMMENTARY
Never heard of thunder snow before; TIL something new
But a freak blizzard out of nowhere? Mab just ruined Halloween for a lotta kids, I suspect.
Depending on if it produced enough snow for snow fights

Mab's retinue might not have entered the bar, but they were about.
Good to know for security's sake
Bad to know that our senses didn't catch a whisper of them beforehand.

Interesting note that dogs and cats are sensitive
We really should get Rosie a dog by the time she gives birth.
Maybe encourage it among the members of Cauldron in general

Usum still has some way to go to civilization, doesnt he? :V
Maeve has Willpower 5? Thats it?
Girl, what have you been doing for the last half-century?
No wonder she was vulnerable.

Hmm.
If things might have gotten hairy if she'd made the Perception roll? That implies Nemesis recognizes us
We need to think long and hard about buying Black Mirror if we are anticipating a future need for gaining surprise

For example, I can see a situation where someone tries to exorcise a god we craft from a location or item its meant to guard. Or to free an imprisoned beastie from the item it was locked into. Like a Denarian Coin.
"Information wants to be free" is not a good principle to live by in the Dresdenverse.

Especially since beasties like shoggoths explicitly exist in the Dresdenverse, just imprisoned in a location.

EDIT
I mean, Odin has soulfire according to Jim Butcher. He uses it to resurrect/create his Einherjar
He doesnt share.
And while Uriel et al have soul fire as well, they dont give that out lightly either

Theres a reason for that.

Even if we do entertain the idea of a spread, that doesn't mean anyone benefits from sharing more details with anyone here now. Mab will already be present to see the whole thing. These winter fey groupies will get an earful at the proverbial door, but they don't offer anything for the price of admission.

Maeve is pretty shit at her job.
Not by mortal standards perhaps, but for being the third or fourth most powerful fey of Winter she's kinda unimpressive.

No superhuman social or mental skills that I've seen at least, no great will or commitment.

She's been a mix of bad and uncaring for her job since long before Nemesis got to her.
