Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Both sides make good points, so I will be an indecisive mollusk and approval vote. Everything will go all according to plan.

[X] Discuss the Zheng further, they at least sent someone, however lax and indecorous they are. And that means being able to understand and steer their interests was more important.
[X] Discuss the Jin further, they are close allies of the Throne, and through them the west, and their representative here was not the most available, for numerous reasons.

I'll vote this for the same reason I voted for being nice to the Meng and not the MoI last vote: We know enough about the other option to know their motives are too far from ours to ever be compatible. Also, funny monkey-blooded people lore told from a scathingly critical point of view sounds more interesting than Jin lore told from a mostly indifferent/ condescending point of view.

Imperial Menagerie: The representatives of the other provinces which have chosen to show themselves may not be a direct part of the talks, but they must be seen too and satisfied all the same. Luckily, what might be the most recalcitrant out of province faction is being headed by your best friend. That doesn't mean you can ignore the rest though. Bai and Zheng and Xuan, three of the most powerful families in the empire have their scions present, and you need to make sure everyone is on the same page, especially in case of unplanned contact. (Heads off potential negative events for the summit, keeps observers informed on your strategy. Characters, Xuan Shi, Bai Meizhen, Xiao Fen, Xia Anxi, Zheng Fu, Sun Liling
Western Marches: The west arrives in full panoply. A swaggering procession of soldiers accompanying their princess. Sun Liling is bright with power and life an unsettling energy about her. While you will give these observers the honors they deserve regardless, it might be a good idea to set aside more time to speak with them to establish boundaries and feel out intentions. Not only that but news from the West on her grandfather's nascent campaign could be valuable in ensuring you are kept abreast of all events which might affect negotiations. (Cai Renxiang, Ji Rong, Sun Liling. Gain further news and understanding of Imperial politics and events. Gain perspective on the West, and just what has changed in the Sun family and their holdings.
Umm, why is Imperial Menagerie happening before Western Marches? I'm probably missing something but to me it would make more sense to have Marches first.

I wouldn't worry too much about the turn, it's not like yrs doesn't have a plan. Here's a few thing he said on discord about that yesterday

I personally suspect that the imperial menagerie will be an overall success, but will require additional intervention specifically to handle the West... Might be linked to the event, too.

The trouble is that in doing Imperial Menagerie first, we don't really have any information or context on how to handle the West. We won't have figured out what The Deal is, which makes it tough to make choices/concessions/etc. And it's an awkward place to discover what Sun Liling's deal is, because it's a really crowded scene character-wise. Plus, if we figure out what her deal is in Imperial Menagerie, even a little bit, then that's a lot of the point of Western Marches gone.

It's a bit hard to see what the point of these actions is, in this order. What their purpose is. It seems pretty weird to me to for there to be an unknown, but known troublesome, quantity in Sun Liling/Western Territories presence and to attempt the general Ducal management effort that includes her before the action specifically geared towards investigating her/them with the intent of making their management more manageable. Maybe I'm missing something, but the order seems pretty directly swapped.

Really hope we don't wind up with a similar but worse silliness of A Land Dark and Cruel happening before Western Marches.

I could see a very good argument for doing a land dark and cruel before western marches if we want to prevent incidents during the summit: if we get what happened between the Demon of Flowers and the Jungle from Khadne, we can be firmer and more precise in what rules we demand the West follow if they wish to stay welcome, and what we can be more flexible about.

It's nearly certain that Liling herself doesn't know anything about the history between her new grandma and the tangled pines, but I wouldn't be surprised if she gets homicidal ideas the moment she or her spirits get a whiff off someone who follows Fryja's cultivation path.
