Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
So, who has motive?

The pine folk, to maintain their grip on a timber monopoly.

The ministry of integrity, to undermine a place where foreign cultivation would be seen as normal.

The Sun, to spike the Cai and Bai on the larger stage.

The Bai grumblers, to make the Cai look worse as an ally.

Some factions of the Jai, Wang, and others along the southern border, to spike the idea of peace.

The gnawers, to weaken their enemies.

Someone like the Iron King, trying to prevent outsiders from upending their plans in the south.

The duchess, to keep us on our toes?

[X] Is the mood among the White Sky's soldiers.

I don't really see how the soldiers' opinion matter more than the White Sky as a whole, and rereading the conversation, Meng Dan does not seem to have more detailled info for either option, so I'd rather focus on what they think.

...Is what I was about to say. But then I thought "well, if there wasn't anything to worry about regarding the soldiers' morale, why is that even an option?" Plus, we already know the White Sky's general opinion; it's the opinion of their component tribes we have to worry about.

Hmm. If there wasn't such a sudden surge of commissions I'd be fundraising for one showing some reactionary Ling Qi haters bitching about her daring to cast herself in the role of Tsu...only for someone to burst in, inform them of the spirit mine Qi just found, and how this has led to a number of people claiming that she has Tsu's/The Bountiful Earth's blessing.

@yrsillar I noticed a minor lore mix up while listening to the Audiobook. Nothing big, it concerns the Wang Clan and Wang Chao's lineage in particular. Sorry to bother, if this has already been brought up!
In the published version it says: (Threads-93 Diplomacy 2 on RR)
Wang Chao was that patriarch's grandson, but he wasn't particularly high in considerations of succession. One of his aunts was the head of the clan, and one of her adult sons was the heir. His father was one of their generals, and his mother was a courtier from the Celestial Peaks.
Wang Chao not in the main line, Father a General, Mother married into the Wang. Female Clan Head.

However upon meeting Wang Lian, in Threads 210 Opening Day 8, she is described as:
I am Wang Lian, third daughter of the Clan Head of Wang. You are Baroness Ling, who has provided my little brother with a great deal of assistance.
Wang Chao is now main line, Clan Head is now male since I doubt that role would fall to an outsider?

A fix, that could be applied to the non-published version, would be to move Wang Lian out of the main line. Her father is referenced twice as concerned with security, once at the Tournament and later regarding accepting a false surrender at summit prep, so him being a general still fits. I think her introduction is the only mention of her being the clan heads daughter, but probably worth double checking.
Probably, means that both our Wang contacts are now less prestigious.

Switching the Chao-Lian relationship from siblings to cousins could also fix the contradiction. That would mean her father is a general, her mother the clan head. This feels like a much more complicated retcon, since them being siblings is regularly mentioned in the text and would involve a quite a bit of combing through the text.

Otherwise you can just ignore the description from Threads 93 and have Chao be the son of the male clan head from the start. I doubt very many people will ever notice this.

Another issue I just noted with that quote is that the Wang have a matriarch not a patriarch. The Builder who is one of the heavenly kings is the matriarch of the clan.

The change to Patriarch was deliberately made in the published version, so I assume Yrsillar is already aware and didn't point it out. It also fits with Wang Chao mentioning his "grandfather's" favorite general being a former cloud nomad khan (or his son?).
Edit: Shenhua's support squad now had gender equality, I guess.

Based on what yrs said in discord when informed it seems like that was a mistake and it should still be matriarch.

I would still prefer the soldier's mood.
That's the kind of low-level info we can't learn through Jaramila or by our own.

It would be good to find out if the changes to patrols we negotiated with the General served to ease tensions between the two militia or not.
