Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

-[X] So, time, plus on call, plus expertise? Ballpark a rough sum. Something like 1k? Or services rendered. Want your consolation on his car, or perhaps a portable phone? You could get a Noika cellphone and make it so durable he could use it as a bludgeon.

Also, Peachbody likely knows most of that stuff already. He's got bigger fish to fry. It's a big deal he has it, but frankly he's got other plots atm.

:eek2:

Harry has already given the Book to the White Council? And Peabody for his grubby hands on it?

</internal screaming>
You are looking at it the wrong way. Think of it as bonus xp.

OOC: Just to be clear raising a City God would take a hell of a lot more energy than Bane did. Proper Exalted Crafting can do it, but Dresden does not know what that is and so his thoughts immediately go to darker places.
Every place, great or small, should have a god and the god in question should be doing its job under the threat of violence from nearby Exalted.

That is the order that propably still exists somewhere in an improperly scraped memory of Molly's Exaltation.

... Guys, you do know that we are, like, contractually obligated to raise the Spirit of Chicago now, right? I mean, there's just no other choice here. None at all. We have to do it. Let's see... Molly, plus Lydia, plus members of the Order (as many as we can get), in the Dragon Nest, with full essence expenditure at Halloween. Sounds perfect. Would it be 1 AP or more to organize the raising? @DragonParadox ?

Because yeah, ending techbane in the city-wide area and raising a city spirit that should be benevolent to mortals (since most of the city dwellers are mortals)... Even if Harry is instinctively against this idea, I think it's a worthy one. We might want to make lots of preparations, though.

Also, I think Porter meant Warden as in the title of the holder of Demonreach.

-[X] If he doesn't take money, argue for paying him with more knowledge. Papers on how to end techbane in a local area, and how to make soulgazing safer should be more than valuable enough

This took Dresden what... 4 hours? I say we pay him a cool 4000 and call it a day. 1000 dollars an hour for help on a personal project seems fair. High compared to his PI rate, but tiny compared to the cost to hire literally any other Warden.

...I will point out that our Essence comes from the Yozi, that for cannon ExWoD, corrupted the Yomi Wan.

Yeah. So making a God of Chicago may, just may, not end as we expect it to.

If you want to raise something as large as a City God you are going to need the crafting charm, but otherwise yes.

We probably need Constructive Convergence of Principles.

I think we need either the right Charms or some real high-tier Sorcery to do that kind of thing even halfway safely.

So let's say next year's halloween?

-[X][Stunt] You smile the gentle smile that your mom uses when she knows that one of her kids wants to argue, and that she has already won the arguement."Harry, you have three options here. The first is that you take my money. The second is that you name a favor from me. I would let you bank the favor, but we both know you'd never cash it in, so if you want a favor, you have to name it. The third is that you pretend that I don't owe you anything and I pay you back later, the way I want to, without any input from you."
"So what will it be, Do I pay you some pocket money from my diamond business, do you get the full knowledge that an ancient magical super weapon can acquire, or do I get to be as nice as I want to you for as long as I want."

Going by current rates, Harry probably charges $100-$150 per hour. Paying him an order of magnitude over his current rates would probably make him very uncomfortable. $200-$400 an hour for magical consulting is probably something we could convince him to accept without too much argument.

Also, completely agree that forging the god of Chicago is a great project.

Probably, yeah. At that point we should have several tens, if not hundreds of minions with occult 5, including those from our kingdom, pulling the power from multiple dragon nests, and might have more circle mates. I wonder if we'll be able to break 100 successes

It was almost, almost enough for me to take Peabody's offer to pull some strings and get the job done, he'd keep really impressed by the Big Book of Yomi Wan, called it 'a mark of rare courage and skill' and a priceless addition to the Edinburgh Library
Ah yes wizard Peabody I had almost forgotten about him, anyone else wondering how much damage he could do with the Big Book of Yomi Wan?

Remind me, what does the Book of Yomi Wan do again?

Also, we really need to stop giving stuff to the White Council. That place is leaking worse than my apartment roof on a fucking monsoon.

I mean that is what you guys wrote it for, to give to the White Council.
I think we just forgot that Peabody would be the first person to get a look at it. I know I did at least.

Really I'm surprised he turned it over all at once to the council at large rather than trying to trade it to an individual person on the senior council.

Not only because Harry trusts individuals more than he's ever trusted groups, but also because this seems like the kind of lore that makes wizards ask what the hell you've been up to lately and why.

If we want to do it reliably we probably need the proper exalt crafting charm.

I'm not enthused with the idea of touching Holden's crafting system, but using it to make gods could be worth it if we make a habit of sticking them into things as we go about our business.

That aside, I'm on board with igniting a city god. I bet it'd have all kinds of interesting effects, ranging from enhancing mortal action in the city limits to giving a bad time to supernatural creatures hunting its citizens.

And as a someone born, raised, and lived all her life there in addition to being the exalt that puts it together Molly would probably get way better service than most.

It'd be a bit awkward to explain to the ordo, but I bet we could get them sacrificing deep dish pizza and Chicago style hot dogs to it for magical shinies before the month was out.

Edit:

Should have refreshed the page before posting. :V

Oh, we'll absolutely need the charm.

As to effects it'll have... The Canon ExvsWoD celestial tier exigent is called The Metropolitan Exalt, Chosen of Cities. Chicago is not all cities, but it'll be the first city god of anew age, sitting at the metaphorical center of the world with lots of significant stuff in its area. So... if nothing else, we might be getting a new circle mate out of it.

If we're looking to make a new god, we have a candidate to recycle parts from wandering around…

I also think it might make sense to subvert Chicago's mortal institutions before we make a god. Holding the ritual to make it in City Hall and having the Mayor, City Clerk, City Treasurer, Chief of Police, Editor of the Chicago Tribune, Coaches of the major sports teams, etc as active participants would probably make a much better god.
