Yes, it boosted your Learning and gave you a negative trait. Lethal Duel would have boosted Prowess and given a different negative trait.

I just didn't want you guys to vote based on mechanical effects, I wanted you to decide what kind of person Fanriel is.
Mmm...well it worked with me and several others so I'd say it worked.

I'm not against you guys doing side work, but the main point of this Quest is being a mercenary. Retiring to be a lecturer at the Colleges would most likely constitute a Quest end.

So what's probably going to be the most frequent benefit from 'Master Lecturer' is that we'll get a bonus when trying to train up the other members of our mercenary contingent, right?

Honestly, I'm more inclined towards building up ourselves over a company. A company means we have responsibility for them, feeding them, taking care of them, making sure they're in good health, making sure we have high Martial to direct them.

Also, the Colleges canonically already have elf lecturers/supervisors from the White Tower, Teclis didn't just dip out and leave them alone for 200 years.
Yeah, that's probably something we could do after we had our fun adventuring. Or if we get into the good graces of the Ice Court, we could see if they would be open to us lending our assistance and knowledge over magic.

I agree with how you think, but I'm personally leaning more towards an elite squad. Sometimes there are things that you just need extra hands for, even though we could probably hire more hands later on (some Streltsi would be nice all rounders).

Yeah I'm definitely voting for Student of the Anvil regardless. Whether we're solo or we're in charge of a group, being able to make ourselves more magic gear will be super useful.

Might include ([X] [TRAITS] Avelornian Ancestry) depending on the state of votes, as I think extra diplomacy is always good, but I'd rather prioritise Sapherian Tutelage and Colonist.

EDIT: Switched Student of the Spear for Chracian Blood necause the idea of a buff elf and a one woman army appeals to me.

....And after thinking about AP hell, I have now decided to go for Avelornian Ancestry, instead of Student of the Anvil.

Mfw theres no option to worship or be somehow connected to one of the elf gods :(
How will we know what to do without some kind of god to guide us.

Well... we do have the curse of Khaine in our blood though we don't want him in our soul. And we certainly honour Hoeth since we're, you know, a Loremaster of Hoeth.

Personally I see it as an opportunity to shape up as an Asur with a full pantheon that we follow. We'll probably have a handful of deities that we honour on the regular because of who we are and others that we honour when it makes sense to. If Student of the Anvil makes it in we'll honour Vaul habitually. But, say, if we're on a ship, we'll certainly pray to Mathlann on the simple basis that it'd be very stupid not to do so.

Are you aware that you can pick three more traits if you vote Yes for the Blood?

Agreed, I'd personally rather not even have any starting troops/the minimum amount so we can get another artefact (the armor would synergize quite nicely with the Lightfang) or an awesome mount.

Yes. Or if you get hired to work alongside other troops you could use it to whip them to shape.

Edit edit: Student of the Anvil is the sort of thing that calls to me generally but its usefulness depends strongly on how it might be implementd - the power and amount of items we can make, and the amount of resources/time needed to do so. Due to oppertunity costs and the line of work we're going into I think I'll pass.
It's not going to let you make high-tier artefacts on the go, that would have required going down the Smith-Priest route. But it lets you do some smaller-scale stuff with some investment.

So while the gun looks spiffy I think we are better off leaning into our 'armoured caster' and fight on the frontlines.
To be clear, the Fireclaw is a magitech revolver, you can totally use it from the front lines. I'll edit the description to make it more clear.

[] [TRAITS] Chracian Blood

I wanna spec into being a one woman army, so Prowess traits FTW
I've always liked the idea of buff elves subverting the stereotype. :p

You are a Loremaster.

Of Hoeth.

The God of Knowledge.

Also the "Student of X" options are literally each themed after one of the High Elf gods.

[X] [BLOOD] Yes

Tall and Broad Elf wielding Dwarven Rune Sword because if we're commited to exile then we might as well go big or go home and conforming to expectations about what an elf of our background should be is not something I'm interested in... and in that vein:

Yes, Blood of Aenerion, I want our legend to be as great as our doom is terrible.

Reasoning:
Anti-chaos dwarven made lightsaber relic from the Golden Age that allows dwarven runecraft and elven spellcraft to worth together, enough said. That's incredibly cool.
Blood of Aenarion will give us a glorious and probably tragic end but if we have nothing left to lose but our mark upon the world.
Chracian blood because buff elves are cool, as is a boost to our combat skill.
Colonist I like because it avoids the arrogant elf stereotype being racialised (speciesied?) - we can get on just fine with humans, normally, despite the fact that our lives are wildly different it's just that we have very good reasons to not get on with the Dawi. I also prefer it to Averlornian ancestry because we're a Loremaster and we learned how to chat to humans, rather than just being really pretty through genetic lottery.
Tutelage because being one of Teclis' teachers is super neat, as is the fact that we found the experience a lesson in true humility. Very characterful.
Anvil student because magic items are cool and it's nice to have another side of us that's not inherently to do with war but still demonstrates the fact that we're a ridiculously educated Asur polymath and thus combines the learning of mutliple fields.
Dream student because we might not be the master of our fate due to Khaine's curse but we are the captain of our soul if we have anything to say about it! Also I just love the cool spiritual meditation vibes, it fits well with a Loremaster of Hoeth.
Holy Flame as I and others pointed out above and then Blackout elaborated upon is a cool intersection with canon, Teclis again and being the Blood of Aenarion. (Also suck it N'kari).

Edit: Avelornian Ancestry added on the basis of DeadmanwalkingXI's strong arguments
