Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] All things made Easy
[X] Plan: Kick a Fallen Angel

the cyberdevil ally dots has me kinda uneasy. I would prefer to get some more experience with them before we start summoning them en-masse.

So, to check and clarify: if we make an ankle bracelet equipped with a shocker strong enough to cause our leg muscle to seize, and sturdy enough that breaking it requires as much effort as breaking a door, would it be able to trigger CCC?

The idea is either to link it to Clippy, or have it equipped with sensors that can tell if we move enough to trigger a "don't allow us to leave unless X" condition.
I really don't like trying to game that power.

If it casts out Fallen Angels I don't see why it wouldn't cast nemesis out. It's Exorcism YES by the standards of the DF setting is the prevailing understanding in the thread.
That will be a fun thing to learn, but I'm almost looking forward to the shadow curse more.

Just because we'll be able to ping every nemesis infected person on the planet at once, and taking away its ability to hide as long as we have a target in front of us.

Exorcism is annoying bullshit to the outsiders, but taking away their stealth is a full on record scratch moment.

Though we should probably wait to do either of these things until we can retreat into our personal empire surrounded by hundreds of millions of demons, mages, and high tech military forces before we try either of these things.

Or to be gained through roleplay.
Like your supposed to gain backgrounds.
No, thats a QM determination thing. Some QMs only allow Backgrounds via roleplay, some only if you pay XP, others use a mix
If DragonParadox was a roleplay only QM, we would have neither Demon Guide 5 nor Mentor 5.
Both are Backgrounds we got without roleplay; we paid points for them in chargen.

@uju32 how do you feel about the technology increase?
As an aside. You do seem interested in the cyberdeilvs side of things.
I just really feel like The low technology score is holding us back. Quite a bit.
Tech 2 is nice to have. Not essential at the moment.
We already have Technology 1; we can wait before buying a second dot.

No it isnt. HMP is Charisma 3 + Tech 1; we have 4 dice combined. Tech 2 raises it to 5 dice; significant, but nothing huge.
And HMP is so far the only thing we've used Technology for. We'll need it higher when we get into the Last Station renovation, but that will take at least two months, which is plenty of time to buy a second dot.

They're safe to use in whatever quantities, and their loyalty is fiat-backed.
This was established in the fluff and by Word of QM back before we even bought the charm.

Do we have an estimate for the action cost of putting them everywhere, including any satellites that pass over Chicago?

If the city doesn't glow hellfire green under mage sight then we don't have enough cyber devils yet. :V

[X] Plan Primate Murder

I am very sympathetic to the focus on difficulty-adjusting charms, but I think we really do need to start spinning the information-gathering web. We need those devils.

Meh, since my plan isn't getting any votes I'll add a vote for a front runner.

[X] Plan Subaquatic Supremacy

[X] All things made Easy

Cyberdevils are annoying to use with our current dice pool. We need to try a bunch of times to get them permanently. Remember when it took us three tries to even get one on Agent Wright's phone? Tech and boiling sea mastery will help with that.
So right now we can work on spreading them out and putting them in strategic locations, and then unlock hacking next time.

sorry. i was not clear. i am not worried about their loyalty. im worried about them accidentally fucking up and drawing attention. or even not fucking up and getting found.

i want experience in giving them running orders and understanding their capabilities and limitations before going whole hog on them.

there is also the weirdness that we have to spend xp to get them and not time and that seems weird to me.

I don't think they'll easily get caught by accident. It seems like you have to be pretty good and/or a specialist to just notice them, based on how Matthews immediately notice Clippy but Harry didn't notice Burny until Mouse used him.

As long as we make sure they confirm their screwing around to the internet we'll probably be fine on the other front as well.

It isn't really our problem if they fill every inbox on the planet with boner pill ads and Nigerian prince scams or whatever as long as they don't leave an obvious trial back to their location.

[X] Plan Primate Murder

This plan works best out of the current options for me. And to everyone wanting another dot of Technology, you do know that an Excellency would be a bigger boost, right?

Although next spending spree, let's drop 6 XP for an Excellency and a second dot. That would basically solve our Technology needs for the medium-term.

It's a little late at this point, but do we have any MA purchases to consider? It'd be a shame to waste the exp reduction we paid in AP for. We can't really advance with taking dots, so we'd just be delaying things another arc.

Was that soak booster we were training for better than, or at least competitive with, any of the tank items we're getting? It should only be like 1 exp to get with the reduction, and even freeing 2 exp up would be enough to get tech dots in the same plan as cyber devil allies.

I don't know what any of the options are for MA purchases.

They're spirits, not viruses.Norton Antivirus is not going to find them on an antivirus sweep. Sweeps might find evidence of what they've done, but I will point out that its fifteen years later and we're literally still having police departments and pipeline companies getting hacked by ransonomware from anonymous authors.

There is enough illicit activity on the web that they'd literally have to scream their identities from the rooftops to stand out.
And they do follow instructions.
We dont really care if they spend their free time shitposting on 4chan and darkweb forums.

By Word of QM we're paying XP to allow them to translate their life experience to skill at navigating the Internet and computer systems. Essentially the same thing we do when we spend XP to buy Ability dots.
Its magic.

Nope. We havent finished training for any of the techniques, and we're currently training Steelskin(I think)
Until we finish training, we cant buy any MA techniques.
And even if we do and have no XP, we can bank it until we have XP to match.

Honestly we are way to AP starved for the expenditure of time to be worth learning from the monk. We can just go on adventure for 1 AP and just get the XP to learn the MA faster both in and out of universe.

And it is better then VLE +4 stamina = +4 Soak and other benefits.

My bad there, I forgot that we still needed more successes to be allowed to spend exp (and what the base price was).

Not even remotely, no.
That's not strictly true. Steel skin can boost our soak as much as VLE can right now, and would do it as most half the price.

The trouble is that it's swingy since we roll for the bonus.

Yeah, we need to spend the AP just to unlock the ability to buy it with XP.

And it's not only better than VLE, it also makes VLE better, because how much we get from VLE scales with our Stamina, and Steel Skin boosts Stamina.

I thought we had the first point already, which would let us buy it. Realized I was wrong when I went to look at the related chapters.

And yeah they go well together, what I was saying was that alone they're at least competitive with each other. Which would have let us sub in the cheaper option and spend the freed up points on adding both the tech devil options to one vote, without compromising the rest of the planned buys.

But we still need 4 successes to buy it, so it's a moot point.
